What a week...

Notice some things missing from this picture like my ceiling, wall and kitchen cabinets?

Well we've had an eventful last few days at my house. On Saturday morning I got out of the shower and came downstairs to discover that my shower had leaked while I was in there. There was water all over my counter top, computer that sits on that counter top, floors; dripping from the ceiling and through the kitchen cabinets. Soon discover it is also dripping down through the crack of the wall and baseboard to the finished basement.
We called a neighbor that is a laborer to help us. He couldn't do anything because we couldn't get our water to shut off at the main in our house. So we call our other neighbor who is a contractor. He comes and can't get the water to shut off...although it appears to be. So he is trying to take off the leaky, corroded pipe in the shower and it busts off and water starts exploding everywhere. I have to call the water co. on a saturday, pay $80 and get them to our house to shut off the water. Ahhhh...that was where it all started. I will spare you all the details in between but it has not been pretty. There has been one problem after another. We've had plumbers, the water co., the insurance co., a restoration co., our neighbor, the water co. again, the plumber again...it's been a mess.

And to top it all off, we figured everything would be covered through our home warranty. Well because we had a contractor come in and replace the pipe... in the middle of a GIANT leak where we obviously had to do something fast...we're NOT covered. So now we're going to be out our $1000 deductible through our insurance co. and our rates are going to go up. Plus when I called the home warranty co. I was on hold for 45 minutes before I even spoke to anyone. Do you know how much water would have been pouring through my house by the buckets full in 45 minutes? They don't care about that.

So in summary, my house has lots of water damage, my upstairs bathroom is out of commission, I'm out A LOT of money, my house is a construction zone and my computer is broken and i can only pray we can recover all the files we had saved on that computer. What a week.

OHHHH NO!!

Where in the world did my great sleeping boy go????? He started out an amazing newborn. Calm, sweet, mild tempered, a great sleeper, then he turned into a boy!!! And I've been trying to work with his Jack Attack ways...but this is more than I can handle right now!! He started out sleeping like this:



Then he started climbing/falling out of his crib all the time this week. He ended up in my bed a few nights and I really didn't want it to continue. So we tried this: (with a mattress, of course, I took this picture tonight!!)


But, he was still VERY hysterical every time we even went anywhere near his bedroom or his crib. So this is what we have tonight:

(don't mind Kate's crazy blanket over her window...my kids in my classroom made it for me for her when i was pregnant with her...and I like it to be dark in her room!!)

Here's to hoping any of us actually get any sleep tonight!!

Is it potty time???

I guess not...

While on vacation last weekend at a cabin Jack would grab his diaper and say "uh uh" or "uh oh" when he had to go potty. So I would run him into the bathroom and put him on the toilet and he'd pee. He was so consistent with it that while at walmart the next day, I decided to buy him big boy undies. :) He wore them that day, had a few accidents but nothing major...peed on the potty or outside all day and night. The next day and every day since, he seems to hate the potty and has refused to go even once. I don't want to force him but I don't want to give up. I guess for now i'll let it go until he stops hating the potty so much. :) Hopefully he'll change his mind soon. I guess until he can at least talk...we should keep wearing diapers!

Kate's dance recital

Kate had her first dance recital this weekend. It was so cute. :) She did such a great job. I am so proud of her!

Almost 2 weeks ago Kate hit her eye on either the kitchen counter corner or the doorway from the kitchen to the living room (she couldn't remember??...) And we went to a friend's house that is a Dr. and he put this butterfly stitch on. She was hysterical. I guess you wonder how your child will handle a situation like this...not good.




Then after having it on for 9 days it was time to take it off. Well on Tuesday while I was at Cedar Point and Kate was being babysat, she hit her eye again (possibly...she doesn't remember doing it...) and it was bleeding a little again. I took the butterfly stitch off anyway and it was definitely not healed. So we have to wait for it to heal. But no more stitch or bandaid or anything. Dr. says just to leave it alone.

Splash Lagoon Vaca

Tomorrow we are headed to Erie, PA for our family vacation to Splash Lagoon. Its an indoor water park. Kate is ridiculously excited!! It's 11:05pm and she is just now (hopefully) going to bed. She keeps coming back down to ask me questions like, "When I'm in the water am I going to have my hair in a ponytail or long?" And "Am I going to wear my earrings or take them out?" Then she came down and watched The Biggest Loser with me. So she'll probably just be too tired tomorrow for me to enjoy...but we shall see! :)

Baby Ava and Mother's Day

My brother Justin's wife just had their first baby, Ava Grace. I am so excited for them. :) She is simply beautiful. Kate and Jack LOVE babies! They loved going to visit her. Jack just kept kissing her over and over again!

I took the kids to get their pictures taken today...Kate's 4th birthday pics and a picture of the 2 of them in Easter/spring clothes. They turned out so adorable. They both did a great job!! I planned on just getting one package of each so I could replace the ones in my frames...but of course I ended up with a few more cuties!! Here are some of my favorites. (They came on a cd...I didn't buy all of these!) :)
