In one hour and 12 minutes, the new year will be upon us. As my husband is currently busy with his brothers and the new play station, I thought I'd try an entirely new something for the new year: thus, my first blog entry. We're here in California for the holidays and our vacation is drawing to a close.

We've eaten till we're ready to burst, eaten some more, and eaten some more. Ryan's whole family was here, a first in years. It's been a great vacation. Some highlights of our Christmas holiday:

*Christmas eve reading Luke II together and talking about our blessings
*Eating at our favorite Pizza joint: Gianni's Pizza in Monterey
*Seeing Todd enjoy time with his Uncle Kalen
*Eating at PF Chang's and not once having to beg our boys to eat--they loved it!
*Trying to fly the new kite at Moss Landing beach--not enough wind but plenty of laughs
*Watching Ben and Filipe (cousin) play together. They are going to be deviants for sure
*Watching the grown up boys play games together
*Seeing Ashley happy with her fiance, Cody
*Italian coconut cake made by Kathy
*Devil's food chocolate chip cake made by Liz
*Todd going for a training run with Liz
*Ridiculously good salad made by Liz
*Celebrating Jordan's 19th birthday
*Shopping for sales at Kohl's
*Sleeping in--thanks to Ryan
*Commiserating with Lucy about our husband's McMillan-ness (love them though we do)
*Laying tile at 1:00 a.m. with Lucy, Glenn, and Ryan--it looks great

It's interesting to me that even though Christmas has become such a commercial holiday, my favorite things about Christmas don't have anything to do with the commercialism.

We've had a great time but we are ready to go home and get back in our own bed and our own routine. I think maybe I'm finally an old person, because I've reached the point where I love to travel and see family, but I love going back home.
