October at the Borups

Here's how October went down:

Homework....I think I hate homework more than the kids.  This is how I do math too.  Fingers totally work!

Spelling?  Who needs it?  They're Borups...I mean, really....will they ever be "great" spellers?  It's not really in the genes.
Image

Making lunches the night before.  It's nice to have slave workers put in some overtime at night.

Weston got to go on his first official preschool field trip.  He's been on many before, but none that were considered his own.  He loves preschool!  This field trip was to Linder Farms....a fun place to get a pumpkin, go on a hayride, play in a corn box (like a sand box, but with corn), go through a hay bale maze, and climb through tires.  Fun, Fun!!

Crazy hair day for school!  She wouldn't dress up crazy, but she let me do her hair crazy.
Image

Got their very own deodorant!  I wish I had my camera out when they first came down and saw the deodorant and I told them it was their very own!  Oh, they were so happy and excited.  They've been begging for it for a while.  Greg has a soft spot for kids that want deodorant.  You'll have to ask him about his own journey to acquire his stick of deodorant when he was a young boy.

Hayden's first Priesthood Session of General Conference.

We canned salsa Conference weekend.  We also canned peaches and pears.  And I dried apples and pears.  It's a lot of work!

We took our own family to Linder Farms for FHE one night.  They had so much fun.  We went through the corn maze with everyone.  And the greatest part of it was that I didn't walk away from this experience telling myself, "I will NEVER take all 6 kids out in public again!"

Hayden played football for the first time this year.  The beginning was rough but by the end I think he liked it.  Don't know if he will try again next year but I'm glad he tried it!  He got to wear his jersey to school on game days.

Pumpkin carving...

Hayden trick or treated with friends this year.  I think he has plans for next year...isn't he too old to trick or treat next year??  I thought he was too old this year.

The trick or treating crew.  We had a lady bug, dragon, Rapunzel, Dracula, and a beat up basketball player.

And then there was this guy.  I never know who will come out of our house Halloween night.

The Party Girl

We didn't even celebrate her birthday until the Saturday after her actual birthday.  We had too much going on during the week.  She was quite the diva at her party.  There was a lot more crying at this one year old bday party than any of the others.

She started out happy...

Ava gave her a naked Barbie!  Awesome!  She wouldn't let go of that barbie either.  We had to pry it out of her hands.  Which made her cry...
Image

She loved her baby doll too!  We had to pry it out of her hands in order for her to "unwrap" her next present.  Crying fit #2.
Image

Greg set her skirt on fire.  He quickly put out the fire by pounding on her skirt.  Crying fit #3.
Image

She was upset when I took the rest of her cake away.  Crying fit #4.
Image

She loves pushing around strollers.  We didn't try to take this away.  She's happy now!

You Know You Have a 1 Year Old When...

A friend of mine originally posted something like this.  I adapted it for our little one year old.

You Know You Have a 1 Year Old When . . .

- there is more food on the floor than on the table

Image

- you can't see out your windows because there are so many sticky finger prints on them
Image

- they are always at the door crying because they want to go outside all day long
Image

- if you need some toilet paper you get it from a big pile on the floor instead of from a roll
Image

- messes are being made faster than you can clean them up
Image

Image

Image

- you try to keep the toliet lids down and bathroom doors shut at all times

- at bathtime, there is more water on the floor and walls than in the tub
Image

- you can't load the dishwasher without a little one trying to climb in it

- you have little helping hands all the time
Image

- you say the word 'no' way more than you would like to admit

but it's all worth it because:

- you get the best hugs and kisses in the world
- always have a little friend to keep you company
- are number 1 to somebody
- get to giggle, tickle, and wrestle
- you snuggle up to read a book with a little warm body for a blanket
- their smile or laugh melts your heart
- they have so much energy they keep you going even when you're down
- they remind you to enjoy life as they get excited over the smallest little thing
- they can cheer up a grumpy 12 year old just by looking at him
- they need you and you need them

We love this little girl!

Blessing Day

We blessed Annalise over Thanksgiving at Greg's parents house.  All of Greg's family were there.  It was so nice and stress free.  I love doing blessings at homes.  It feels more personal and family oriented for me.  She looked so beautiful.
