Here is a great website! Â There are tons of problem solving resources using the CGI framework, which is the designated CCSS math problem solving framework. Â There are tons of other great math resources on this site as well.

Here are some great resource to teach volume. I  We have to try and use a variety of ways to teach volume so that the students get it. Think of at least 5 different ways to approach it using the theory of Multiple Intelligences.  Remember that volume is a 5th grade critical area.

Here is a great way to get your students excited about learning math facts.  We should  emphasize  composing and decomposing numbers, flexibility and confidence.  Here is a school that is doing just that!
I would have the students  working with each other to get efficient and fast.  They are only really competing against themselves but practicing individually, in partners and in groups.  I would also have them do some practice at their level with me in guided math groups.  Remember that the CCSS has 3 levels of efficiency (see the math progressions operations and algebraic thinking p.6)

Common Core Math Progressions: Detailed Guided Math and Center Activities
The Common Core folks have put up Math Progressions, which describe each domain in detail. Â They only have progressions up for Operations and Algebraic Thinking and Place Value right now. There are pictures, diagrams and lots of good information. This is a must read for everybody!
