App and developer identity

This Privacy Policy applies to the Gurmat Darbar app and related website services operated by Gurmat Darbar Team.

App name: Gurmat Darbar. Developer or entity name: Gurmat Darbar Team. Official privacy, support, grievance, and deletion contact: [email protected].

Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Gurmat Darbar collects, uses, stores, discloses, secures, and deletes personal information when you use our website, mobile app, contributor tools, and support channels.

It is designed to support Google Play disclosure expectations and our current obligations under applicable Indian and international privacy frameworks. Where mandatory local law gives you stronger rights, that local law will apply.

What data we collect

  • Account and profile data such as your name, email address, Google account identifier, profile photo URL, role, status, login timestamps, and account activity metadata.
  • Session and account convenience storage such as session cookies, user-data cookies, login redirect storage, and consent-preference storage.
  • Contributor submission data such as uploaded posters or images, program title, optional phone number, optional description, contributor identity, IP address, user agent, referral URL, and additional submission metadata.
  • Support and feedback data such as your name, email, message content, feedback category, device details, browser details, page URL, referral URL, network metadata, and account link when you are signed in.
  • Public listing data such as samagam details, Gurudwara and venue information, Gurusewak profile details, public contact references, social links, and public team contact details that are intentionally published.
  • Location preference, current-location, nearby-event, and location-selection data when you use nearby discovery, including city, region, latitude and longitude where available, browser storage state, selection identifiers, IP address, user agent, and related interaction logs.
  • Analytics and product-performance data if you consent to optional analytics on the website.

Google Sign-In data

When you sign in with Google, we receive basic account information such as your Google account ID, email address, display name, and profile picture.

We use this information to create and maintain your account, remember your role and status, and help keep sign-in secure across supported devices.

Location data

The website can request your device location only if you choose to use nearby discovery features. We do not require precise location to browse public listings.

If you allow location, the app may use your latitude and longitude to find nearby samagams, reverse-geocode a readable city or region, store recent nearby-search results in browser storage for a short period, and keep a location-selection identifier so the product can understand location-choice reliability.

Current-location and nearby-event browser caches are intended for convenience and expire after a short operational window. Location-selection analytics may also be logged on the server with IP address, user agent, referral URL, city, region, and source details to prevent abuse and improve location discovery.

If you do not grant location access, you can still browse samagams manually by search, listing, or region.

Analytics and crash or diagnostics signals

On the website, Gurmat Darbar uses Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics only after you opt in through the analytics consent banner.

These tools help us understand usage trends, page performance, feature reliability, and aggregate interaction patterns. If you reject analytics, GA4 and Vercel Analytics are not loaded for that browser unless you later change your choice.

At this time, the product does not claim a separate dedicated crash-reporting service such as Crashlytics, Sentry, or PostHog beyond operational logs and consent-gated analytics-style diagnostics.

Third-party SDKs and service providers

The current product stack uses third-party services including Google Sign-In or OAuth, Google Cloud Storage for uploaded media, Google Places or Maps-related prefill services, Google Gemini OCR for poster text extraction, OpenStreetMap or Nominatim reverse geocoding, Google Analytics 4 after consent, Vercel Analytics after consent, and hosting or infrastructure providers.

These services may process account, submission, uploaded image, location, mapping, infrastructure, OCR, or analytics data only to the extent needed to deliver their respective functions for Gurmat Darbar.

How we use data

  • To authenticate users and keep accounts working.
  • To let contributors submit posters and for admins to review or manage submissions.
  • To operate public event, Gurudwara, and Gurusewak discovery features.
  • To respond to support, feedback, legal, privacy, safety, and grievance requests.
  • To protect the platform from abuse, spam, fraud, unauthorized access, and harmful submissions.
  • To improve platform quality, accessibility, moderation, and reliability.

How data is secured

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and operational measures to limit unauthorized access, misuse, loss, and disclosure of account and submission data.

That includes authenticated account flows, scoped infrastructure access, and moderation or support controls intended to reduce abuse. No internet service can promise absolute security, so users should also protect their own Google account and device access.

When we share data

Gurmat Darbar does not sell personal information. We share data with service providers only where needed to operate the service, such as hosting, storage, analytics, identity, mapping, or infrastructure support.

Current examples in the product stack include Google Sign-In, Google Cloud Storage, Google Places or Maps services, Google Gemini OCR for poster processing, OpenStreetMap or Nominatim lookups for reverse geocoding, Google Analytics 4 after consent, and Vercel-hosted analytics tooling after consent.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect users, the platform, or the wider community from harm.

Retention

We keep account data for as long as the account remains active and for limited periods afterward where needed for security, fraud prevention, debugging, legal compliance, dispute handling, or continuity of public community records.

Session and user-data cookies currently last up to 30 days. Current-location, nearby-event, nearby-city, and nearby-requested browser caches are intended for short convenience use and currently expire after about 6 hours. PWA install-dismissal storage is currently kept for about 7 days. Analytics consent, location preference, onboarding, installed-app, and related preference keys remain until cleared, replaced, or no longer needed.

Support, feedback, location-selection, and submission records may be retained for shorter or longer periods depending on whether they are needed to investigate abuse, maintain published listings, support users, or comply with legal obligations. Valid account deletion requests are targeted for completion within up to 30 days unless a shorter period is required by applicable law.

Account deletion

If you want to request account deletion, use the Delete Account page at https://gurmatdarbar.com/account-delete or contact [email protected] from the email linked to your account with enough information for identity verification.

When Gurmat Darbar processes a valid deletion request, we aim to remove or anonymize account-linked personal data that is no longer needed. Some limited records may be retained where necessary for security, fraud prevention, published listing continuity, or legal compliance.

International use and transfers

Gurmat Darbar may use infrastructure or service providers that process data outside the country where you use the service. By using the platform, you understand that data may be transferred and processed in jurisdictions with different data-protection regimes.

Where required, we aim to use reasonable contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards for those transfers.

User rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, consent withdrawal, complaint handling, or other privacy assistance. The common request channel for this release is [email protected].

We may request reasonable identity verification before acting on rights requests that affect account-linked information or deletion outcomes. More detail is available on the User Rights page.

Your choices

  • Do not sign in unless you want an account.
  • Do not grant location access unless you want nearby discovery.
  • Do not opt in to analytics unless you are comfortable with website analytics processing.
  • Email support to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy help.

Cookies, local storage, and website analytics preferences

The website uses essential cookies and browser storage for sign-in, session continuity, login redirects, PWA install prompts, location preferences, onboarding state, featured-event and nearby-event convenience caches, and to remember privacy choices.

Essential storage stays on because the site cannot provide those requested functions reliably without it. Optional analytics storage and scripts for GA4 and Vercel Analytics are activated only if you opt in. For more detail, see the Cookie Policy.

Inclusive access

Gurmat Darbar is built as an inclusive platform for people of all ages, backgrounds, religions, regions, and communities who want to discover or share respectful community information.

Account actions, contributor submissions, and sharing another person's information must still be done lawfully and with appropriate permission. If you believe personal information has been shared without proper consent or authority, contact support so we can review and act.

Privacy contact and grievance details

For privacy questions, rights requests, grievance-style complaints, or account deletion assistance, contact [email protected]. This address is also the current public grievance and policy contact for the service.
