11 Months in a couple of paragraphs!!

Wow am I a slacker! School is finally out and Summer is here. It was quite the first year of teaching. Growing up in a family of teachers I knew it was a busy job but I guess it never really sank in until I got my own classroom. I had a darling class of first graders that I'm sure I will never forget. I loved the team of teachers I got to work with and learn from. In April I recieved a letter stating that they were going to give me a contract to teach the next year. I was so excited and grateful that I was being blessed enough to have a job next year. Then life got interesting, turns out they didn't have as many teachers retire as they thought would and they weren't sure I would have a teaching job next year. I was a bit of a basket case. I carried on teaching my darling students for a month stressing inside about the next year then word came that I did in fact have a job they just weren't sure where it would be at. I found out in May that they were losing two teachers at Lewiston Elementary and that I was one of them, I figured this would happen but I was so sad to be leaving a wonderful principal and staff and most importantly good friends. When the principal called me in to give me the news she gave me my new assignment by asking what I thought about 4th grade, My response " I'm sure its a great grade to teach, however I'm not quialified to teach 4th grade because I'm only early childhood certified" She just sat there stunned by my news and said "well this makes things a bit complicated, I will make a call and we'll see what we can do. As for now your just kind of floating." Wow that was bit of a shocker, I supposedly had a job but then kind of didn't. It was only a couple of days but it felt like months and I was told I would be teaching 2nd grade at Birch Creek Elementary (the new school in Smithfield, Utah). Though I'm a little nervous to be teaching 2nd graders I'm totally thrilled about my new job. I already know the teachers I'll be working with and it will be a blast.
Now to the excitement of my summer. I had about two weeks left of school and I found out I had a hole in my heart. WHAT? You read it right a hole in my heart. It wasn't anything new really in fact I have had this hole since the day I was born, Actually we all are born with a hole in our hearts (this was new to me). Apparently these holes are supposed to close up by the time we are two years old, Huh? Two years old, so I've been walking around with a hole in my heart that shouldn't be there for 28 years? Totally crazy!! So we scheduled surgery for June 7th to fix what is called a PFO, and the last two weeks of school was a roller coaster.
I didn't want to travel to Salt Lake early on the morning of June 7th so my mom and I decided to head to Salt Lake the night before so we could get up and not feel rushed to get to the hospital. It was a totally good idea and it was so relaxing and to be honest with you I wasn't nervous at all, I was just ready to get it over with.
Now I know this sounds terrible but it wasn't an open heart surgery, Modern medicine is truly AMAZING!! The doctor made a little incision in a vein in my leg and they went up and put a little device in my heart, except when they got to my heart the dr. realized I didn't have one hole I had two holes! WHAT? TWO HOLES. So they put two different devices in my heart and hopefully in about 6 months my heart will have grown over them and filled in the holes and I'll be good to go.
Tomorrow will be three weeks since my surgery and things have gone pretty well. I don't feel any different, in fact I feel pretty much the same except for a couple of weird things they say are normal.
Well, I know this is a lot to read especially since I haven't written anything on my blog for about 11 months and well to be honest things have been pretty boring until about May. So now you are all caught up on my life, no that you really wanted to hear it all.
I hope all of you are doing well and I'm really hoping to do better at keeping up this blog thing.

First Grade!!

Image
Okay so last week was my first day of teaching first grade and let me just say WOW!!
It was tons of fun but totally not what I expected, I'm so glad we started on a thursday because by day Two I really did need a break. I'm teaching first grade in Lewiston utah, and it is my first year.

My room isn't the greatest room ever, becasue I am the new teacher so I decided to spice it up a bit. The room was completely white so I decided to paint it. I wanted to have a theme also so I decided a western theme. Awesome I know. I totally love it and it is way way cute. I have had a lot of fun with it also, I have taken the theme and completely ran with it in everyway possible. The children say "howdy" when entering the room, when I need them to sit down they "saddle-up" and we eat lunch in the "chuchwagon". It has been really fun and only two days. I have some really cute kids and I think it will be a good first year.

Most of my summer and this past year has been spent studying and working as usual, but I'm finally done with that and can finally focus on setting up my classroom. I have three weeks until I will be teaching my darling little first graders.

Long long time

Okay so it has been a really long time since I updated my blog, but I haven't had a lot to post. After taking a summer off I started back at Utah State. I'm doing my Level 3 in the early childhood education program which means I had 9 weeks of classes and I'm at the tail end of my 9 weeks in my practicum. I have been helping out in a First grade classroom and it has been a great learning experience for me. I have a great cooperating teacher that has given me many opportunities to teach and take over the class. I have really enjoyed this time I have had to be with these cute little first graders and though I'm still shooting for teaching Kindergarten or Preschool I am going to miss these cute kids and I have enjoyed being in the first grade classroom.
I will be done with my practicum on December 11 and get to have a pretty good Christmas break then it will be onto my student teaching and hopefully I'll be able to graduate in May.
That is pretty much the update here, I'm still working as the director of the day care at the Sports Academy and loving it there also, though I haven't been around too much and I am sure missing all the darling little kids that come there.
I hope all my friends are doing well and that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Summer fun at Lagoon

My brother Darren's work always does a Lagoon day each summer and he is always so sweet to let me tag alaong. This year Bre and her kids came and it was so fun. My nieces and nephew Kylee, Kenley, Berkly, and Braxton all hung out togther and usually I hang out with them and go on all the rides with them but I had just got back early that morning from my trip to Yosemite so I wasn't feeling so well from lack of sleep, so I just watched them ride the rides in the rain. Bre and Steve and Daxton and Corban hung out with my Brother and Sister-in-law and my niece and nephew Boston and macy. It rained like crazy and it was so cold but the kids didn't seem to mind one bit.

We decided to do the bounceback a week later since we were so wet and cold most of the time. Unfortunetly most of the kids were so busy with other things so the older kids didn't get to come but we got to take Bailey, Braxton, and Berkley and my good friend Kydee came with Bre and her family and the rest of us. It was so warm and so much fun, I did realize that I wasn't just tired on my last trip to Lagoon, unfortunetly I think I may be getting to old for rides because after the fourth ride which was the collases I was so sick I couldn't do anymore the rest of the day but it was still a blast. Berkley, Braxton and Bailey are my Hero's because they did the sky coaster and that was way fun to watch the three of them lean on each other's bravery and ride it and they had a blast and it was really fun to watch them.

Yosemite National Park

I just got back from an amazing vacation to Yosemite National Park. I went with my dad, stepmom, and my half brother and sister. We left Saturday morning the 13th of June and got back at 7:30am after driving all day and night on June 20th.

On Wednesday my oldest Brother Rhett and his family joined us for the rest of the week.

My Brother, his wife, and their oldest two boys along with my dad and brother hiked Half Dome on Thursday (an 18mile hike) so while they were spending the day hiking I got to spend the day with their youngest two and my sister and step mom hanging out at the hotel pool and also certifying them as "Junior Rangers". It was a ton of fun and after seeing them all return from the hike sore and way tired I wasn't too sad I missed out on the hike. The following slide show is after my brother and his family showed up and most of them are taken while I was with the younger two and the others were hiking.

So I just had a birthday and well, most of you know I'm not big on birthdays and I don't do much to celebrate them especially my own. Thanks goodness I have a sister who loves to celebrate. My sister and her cute kids and I went to the fun park to celebrate. Daxton kept on insisting that I wanted to go bowling and play lazer tag for my birthday. I didn't really care what I did as long as I got to play with them it didn't matter and especially cause I wasn't at work; even though they threw a pretty awesome party for me there as well. Anyway we went bowling and played lazer tag and some video games and it was a blast.

My way cute Friend Kydee came along with us. It was fun having her there though I'm pretty sure she didn't know what she was getting herself into when she agreed to come cause she was then stuck with us the rest of the night. After hanging out at the fun park for a couple of hours we met up with my mom at the Olive Garden for dinner and that was a ton of fun and it was good food as always. They had them sing to me and bring us these new delicious doughnuts they have with chocolate sauce can I say Fattening but worth it.
It was a great day and I want to thank everyone for making it so great I really appreciated it. Kids Klub girls you were great thanks for the gifts and the decorations and the party I really had fun even though I wasn't there very long I really enjoyed it and appreciate all your hard work I love ya tons.
I love ya Bre and Kydee and my cute little nephews and niece for a fun day as well and making it memorable.

These last set of pictures are of me and my sister, we get a little silly when we get together and sometimes out of control but that's why I love her.
