mmmmmm......beach

ImageSouthern California.

Or as the cool kids call it... So Cal.

I'm glad I'm not one of the cool kids so I don't have to say things like that. In July we went out to my sister's house in California. She recently moved from Laguna Niguel to the small town of Bonsall about an hour south of Laguna. She and her husband bought a two and a half acre property in a subdivision that is all horse property. My sister has a horse so it was ideal. We took Rayce to Sea World and went to the beach. It took him a few minutes to get the whole ocean pulling at his feet thing, but once that was down he loved it. I would have to say that watching him run up and down the beach as the waves came in was the best part of the trip. It is refreshing to watch something so simple amuse him for so long. He could hang out for hours doing nothing at all which was sweet because then I get to do nothing at all. He would make a friend at what ever beach we were at and he even put one into one of the sweetest fits I have ever seen over a little toy car. That's my boy.

Back at my sister's house he loved helping out with the daily duties of picking up horse poop and getting the horses fed. He didn't even hesitate around the horses and he and Lez walked my sisters horse from the barn to the turnout with Rayce leading the way holding the lead rope. The other horse that my sister boards was very interested in him and would lower her head to try to sniff him and he would grab my hand and tell me "Rayce is okay dad" and then stand face to face with this 1200 lb. animal. It was amazing to watch. How many two year olds will do that? None that I have ever seen. It must mean my son is much smarter and all around cooler than all the other booger eaters out there. Yep, that's it.
