Join Visual Vengeance Thursday August 15th at 9:30 PM for another over the top insane slice of cinema… RAT SCRATCH FEVER with director Jeff Leroy in person for post screening Q&A and after party! Where do I even begin? How about with giant rats from outer space invading earth and completely fucking shit up! We got explosions, we got spaceships,  we got questionable CGI, even more questionable practical effects, and more heart than most films with 100 times the budget… oh yeah and giant rats! Can’t forget those. Jeff Leroy’s Rat Scratch Fever is less a movie and more an experience. Best had in a theater with a crowd of like minded film freaks, and what better place than Visual Vengeance at Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg. Yes we will embarrass you and ourselves in front of the audience, yes there will be live rats in the theater…. just kidding!

When a doomed space mission brings an army of savage and super intelligent giant rats back to Earth, Los Angeles becomes ground zero for survival as the ravenous creatures descend upon the city with an insatiable hunger for flesh and destruction.

From low budget genre auteur Jeff Leroy (Creepies, The Witches Sabbath) comes the mother of all giant rat movies, a gore-drenched sci-fi / horror / action movie stew that’s a homage to the nature gone amok genre of the 1970s, only wired on crank and really pissed off. Leroy crams every frame of the movie with a dirty, dark sense of dread, pitting his cast against not only the monsters, but each other, until every set and character is literally torn to shreds in one way or another. With it’s ample use of practical effects, miniature work, non-stop action and black humor, Rat Scratch Fever is a B-movie masterclass on how to get every penny and drop of sweat up on the screen.

Join Visual Vengeance at Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg on June 20th for a night you soon will not forget… FEEDERS with director Mark Polonia in attendance for a post screening Q&A as well as meet and greet at the after party!

Two buddies on a road trip in rural Pennsylvania encounter the early days of an all-out invasion of Earth by pint-sized, flesh-eating aliens.

The Polonia Brothers are back, in their most popular SOV outing since Splatter Farm (1987). This time John Polonia takes center stage on screen alongside frequent collaborator and co-director Jon McBride (Cannibal Campout, Woodchipper Massacre) and both share the directing duties with John’s twin brother Mark. Feeders packs a much more polished punch but is not one ounce less offbeat, charming or gore drizzled than fans have come to love from the magical magnetic tape kingdom of Polonia.

You have the right to remain stupid!

Join the Visual Vengeance crew on Thursday April 18th, 9:30 PM at Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg for one of legendary shot-on-video director Donald Farmer’s finest accomplishments, VAMPIRE COP! Expect giveaways, an after party with live DJ and a post screening zoom Q&A with Donald Farmer himself! If you were there for his Scream Dream Q&A you know this is not to be missed. ACAV!

Tough as nails police officer Lucas only works the night shift — because he also happens to be a vampire! Armed with supernatural strength and a thirst for justice (and blood), he’s locked in a deadly game with crime boss Hans Gieger in hopes of cleaning up the streets. But when investigative reporter Melanie Roberts starts getting too close to the story, Lucas’s secret is on the line, while Gieger aims to create his own vampire army. Lucas and Melanie must take the ultimate bite out of crime and stop him.

SOV superstar Donald Farmer’s (Demon Queen, Scream Dream) slow motion smothered, toothy tale of street justice and juicy jugulars is overflowing with dreamy analog visuals and delirious dialogue that would make even the lowest budgeted, dime store-fanged Dracula recoil as if scorched by the rays of the sun.

Get ready to check your brain at the door, cause this month at Visual Vengeance you sure ain’t gonna need it! We got legendary Italian schlockmeister Bruno Mattei’s Zombies The Beginning and that’s all you need to know. Of course we’re gonna make you do something stupid in hope to get some cool prizes, then we watch this insane flick and after that down to the bar where Horror Boobs’ will be DJing. Sounds like a perfect March night.

An evil corporation sends a team of marines led by the sole survivor of a previous attack on a rescue mission to a remote Pacific Island following a zombie outbreak stemming from nefarious scientific experiments. It all goes bad really fast.

Plot sound familiar? It should, as this is the final film from legendary Italian horror director Bruno Mattei (Hell of the Living Dead, Zombie 3, Rats: Night of Terror) who made a career of high energy knock offs of Hollywood hits featuring his unique splatter signature.

In the final years of his career, Mattei made several shot-on-video movies for the international market, and this was one of the best of them – featuring the plot lifted from James Cameron’s Aliens, mixed with elements of his own 1980 knock off of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. What follows is a third world acid trip from hell, with Grand Guignol gore, high-caliber weapons, mutated rugrats and goopy tentacles all colliding in a Calabrian casserole of spaghetti sauce-slathered greatness.

Visual Vengeance is back at Nitehawk Williamsburg on Thursday February 15th at 9:30 PM with THINGS! No, not the Canadian THINGS, the American THINGS! Produced by the legendary David Sterling, mastermind behind hundreds of independent direct to video exploitation and horror films! Sterling will be joining us for a post screening Q&A and a meet and greet at the after party. Giveaways, live DJ, you know the drill… Bust seriously, you will not wanna miss this one.

They are creatures created by the evils of men!

In this sick and slimy SOV monster anthology, a man’s mistress is trapped by his gun-wielding wife, who subjects her to two tales as a twisted form of revenge. In the first, a would-be brothel owner and crew face off against a puritanical mayor with a mysterious box housing an ancient creature he uses as punishment. In the second, a woman’s nightmares about her abusive husband slowly come to life as she tries to escape the real monster growing inside him.

From prolific indie producer David S. Sterling (Camp Blood, Demonicus, Witchcraft) and directed by Jay Woelfel (Beyond Dream’s Door), Dennis Devine (Fatal Images), and Eugene James (Dead Girls), Things spares no exploitation trope or gross-out practical effect in telling it’s tawdry and oozy tales of inhumanity in all its analog glory.

If you go to one Visual Vengeance event this month let it be this one! Everyone’s favorite Hawaiian SOV psychopaths the Cosuins Brothers are back. You loved Slaughter Day and you’ll love Loose Cannon. Watch another mind melter, then get to pick the brains of the creators, and wash it all down with a drink and some tunes in the Lo-Res. You’ll need to after this one!

Presenting the most obscure analog gems salvaged from the video store era, the VISUAL VENGEANCE series highlights the peak of homemade genre cinema between 1980 and the early 2000s, and includes many forgotten, lost or never seen remnants of the direct-to-video boom. Whether it’s horror, action, sci-fi or just an unclassifiable stew of SOV psychosis, this series salutes those movies cobbled together by some of the most resourceful filmmakers to ever pick up a camera.

Loose Cannon

A rogue cop in rural Hawaii uncovers a conspiracy to kill the vice president and is forced to battle an old friend working for a group of terrorists in this SOV martial arts and gunplay extravaganza 25 years in the making!

Helmed by do-it-yourself wunderkind twin brothers The Cousins Brothers, and made hot off the heels of their gore-soaked SOV tour de force Slaughter Day, Loose Cannon ups the ante on the action and insanity their fans have come to adore – with severed limbs, homemade rocket launchers, reckless stunts, hand to hand combat and more punch than a volcano full of nuclear weapons.

Hosted by Matt Desiderio of Horror Boobs and Rob Hauschild of Wild Eye with free giveaways of Blu-rays, DVDs and collectibles. Followed by an after party in Lo-Res where Desiderio will DJ an all-vinyl set.

It’s almost winter break but you still have one more class to attend! Visual Vengeance presents Reanimator Academy December 21st 9:30PM Post screening Q&A with director Judith Priest via Zoom.

The fraternity brothers at Delta Epsilon Delta are your typical red-blooded American party animals, that is except for Edgar Allen Lovecraft. He’s locked up in his room trying to cure death and finds a serum that works on the severed head of a recently deceased comedian. When a mafia hood steals the serum to use on his murdered squeeze, her reanimated corpse goes on a campus killing spree – let the corny puns and one-punch decapitations fly!

Reanimator Academy was produced down and dirty for the booming video store rental market by legendary producer David DeCoteau (Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama) and directed by the equally renowned Bret McCormick (The Abomination), under what is possibly the best pseudonym ever used in a film. This silly send-up of Lovecraftian lore and cinematic tropes will leave you feeling as hungover and headless as a three-kegger blowout.

Hosted by Matt Desiderio of Horror Boobs and Rob Hauschild of Wild Eye Releasing with free giveaways of Blu-rays, DVDs and collectibles. Followed by an after party in Lo-Res where Desiderio will DJ an all-vinyl set.

In rural Texas, several farmers are transformed into bloodthirsty, chatty zombie killers when a mysterious mist from outer space infects the earth. A young couple must warn townsfolk and try to escape before inept government officials drop a bomb and nuke them all out of existence.

Glen Coburn’s hilarious, gag-and-gore filled homage to 1950s horror and sci-fi classics has remained a fan favorite for nearly four decades since its VHS debut in video stores across the country. And it remains one of the best, most successful examples of low budget regional filmmaking and 1980s gross out horror comedy.

We have Todd Sheets coming all the way back to NYC for the Visual Vengeance viewers. Todd will partake in a post screening Q&A and will be hanging downstairs in the Lo-Res at the after party eager to meet fans and sign autographs!

Violent New Breed

A new deadly drug named ‘Rapture’ has taken over the streets of New York City, and a pair of cops have been tasked with finding its source. Little do they know that the drug was created by an army of demons that live under NYC, who have also just conjured the Antichrist. Now the cops must rescue the spawn of Satan and get it across town to Pastor Williams (Rudy Ray Moore) in order to baptize and exorcise the baby beast.

Perhaps the most dense and extravagant effort from prolific SOV madman Todd Sheets, Violent New Breed features multiple plotlines, countless characters and a juicy helping of his trademark gore that all twist together into a unique stew of satanic panic horror and summer tentpole ambition on a camping tent budget.

Hosted by Matt Desiderio of Horror Boobs and Rob Hauschild of Wild Eye with free giveaways of Blu-rays, DVDs and collectibles. Followed by an after party in Lo-Res where Desiderio will DJ an all-vinyl set.

Visual Vengeance presents TRASHCANS OF TERROR Thursday, AUGUST 17th @ 9:30 pm. Director Chuck Handy will hopefully join us via zoom for a post screening Q&A.

After a chance encounter with a female bodybuilder – who is also an alien – loner and reluctant hero Percy “Spider” Leibowitz falls madly in love. She soon goes missing, and he turns to his military pal to find her and battle the army of deadly, intergalactic trash cans who he thinks are responsible – trashcans that also happen to be hell bent on taking over earth.

This wildly obscure, never-released homemade sci-fi opus from Oregon’s Chuck Handy is stunningly hypnotizing in its simplicity and weirdness, dropping you into a lo-res otherworld from the first frame and leaving you there to marinate in the thick, hazy syrup of a one-of-a-kind consumer grade VHS universe.

Hosted by Matt Desiderio of Horror Boobs and Rob Hauschild of Wild Eye, with free giveaways of Blu-rays, DVDs and collectibles. Followed by an after party in Lo-Res where Desiderio will DJ an all-vinyl set.

Visual Vengeance presents The Abomination Thursday, Jun 15 @ 9:30 pm: Director Bret McCormick joining us for Q&A following the film via Zoom

A TV evangelist excises a tumor from the body of a loyal worshipper, who soon coughs up the growth. Unknown to her, the cancer is actually a carnivorous life form that slithers its way into her son Cody while he sleeps, growing inside him until he is completely under its control. Now Cody must feed the beast fresh victims to keep them both alive.

One of the most legendary and notorious VHS releases of the video store era, Bret McCormicks’s Super 8 splatter spectacular remains the definitive document of the gore-soaked 1980s independent movie scene.

Hosted by Matt Desiderio of Horror Boobs and Rob Hauschild of Wild Eye, with free giveaways of Blu-rays, DVDs and collectibles. Followed by an after party in Lo-Res where Desiderio will DJ an all-vinyl set.

If Evil Dead Rise doesn’t fulfill your need for demonic insanity this month’s Visual Vengeance will. Get into Vampires and Other Seterotypes! Director Kevin Lindenmuth will be making a rare appearance, doing a post screening Q&A, and will be hanging at the afterparty. So let’s get weird!

Whether it’s horror, action, sci-fi or just an unclassifiable stew of SOV psychosis, this series salutes those movies cobbled together by some of the most resourceful filmmakers to ever pick up a camera.

In Vampires and Other Stereotypes a pair of paranormal investigators are making their nightly rounds on the seedy streets of New York City when they encounter a group of party-hopping girls looking for a warehouse rave – who have also just accidentally opened a portal to hell. From prolific 1990s Shot-On-Video writer, producer, director Kevin J. Lindenmuth.

Get ready for some March Metal Madness with this months Visual Vengeance screening of Scream Dream!

Donald Farmer’s Scream Dream is both the perfect example of a regional Shot-On-Video film, and one of the best heavy metal horror movies of all time, made during the height of 1980s ‘Satanic Panic’ in the USA.When frontwoman Michelle Shocked is fired from her band for bad press related to Satanic rumors, she proves everyone right by transforming into a bloodthirsty demon who embarks on a spree of killing and possession. Scream Dream overflows with rubber monster action, gore-drenched murders, unisex teased hair and more bar band metal music than you can shake a studded wristband at.
