EXPLORE Nice wave developed today. Waist to chest and glassy. Frigid though. Water hi 30's, air temp about 5.

LATE-DAY SURF Waves picked up nicely yesterday afternoon. Waist high, glassy long lines. Not a lot of power, but nice to get out and surf. Cold, air about 20, water 40.

REMEMBER: Be nice to the Plow-truck drivers.

Imagine having to dig out after surfing a couple hours in freezing temperature.

OFF PATHI've been exploring beyond the usual breaks.

Getting away from the crowds and routine.

Breaking a few rules along the way.

Finding some great coves. This was chest high, breaking over shallow rock.

And some sketchy ledges. At least head high, if not bigger.

Waves were waist to head high and glassy.

The air temp was about 5, the water low 40's. Made for some great sea-smoke on the water.

Guys would go out, catch 4 or 5 waves, and run back to their cars.

Knee to waist and glassy with bigger sets. Grey and cold, in the mid-thirties.

20 MONTHS, Joey Radford's surf short was in the "Proven in the Northeast" film contest. Great film! This film has some of Maines best unknown surfers at some of Maines best unknown breaks, you are privileged to see of these waves on film. Great job Joey! I am not sure what he wins, but vote for it here.

GULF OF MAINE Pulled this image from the GoMOOS (Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System) website. A great resource for swell and ocean information. Unfortunately they are removing some of their buoys due to funding shortfalls.
