Weekend Getaway

for memorial day weekend we headed to las vegas...not our usual vegas trip though. we took the kids and spent the whole time with sean's brother and sister in law and their family. we had so much fun! the weather was perfect. we took the kids to a splash park, did some shopping, went to dinner, got to see their new baby ezra who is so darling! i can't believe you guys have 3 kids! it was so fun to spend time with them, we don't see them nearly enough. quincy was stoked about getting to go to las vegas too. she has been before, but we usually leave her home. after traveling all evening and finally getting to our hotel she said, "i can't believe you brought me to las vegas!!!" she loved the strip and all the lights, rides, fountains, and especially the statue of liberty at new york new york and the excalibur, which looks like castle. it was fun to see her so excited. west loved it there too, but was a horrific traveler. literally flipping out most of the time in his car seat. Q may get to come again, west may get left home next time.

BFFs

this is one of Q's very best friends. she lives up the road in our old neighborhood and their little friendship is one of the reasons i am so glad we didn't move very far. they are the cutest little friends. their new favorite thing to play is "pajama party" and the last time they played this it involved putting lotion all over her friend's family's bunnies. quincy told her mom that they were conditioning the bunnies hair. :) girlie girls, these two.

they played with photo booth on my computer a while ago and took like 30 pictures. i laughed so hard looking through them later. cuties.

This Is What You've Missed.

west turned 1 on october 13th!!  he had ear infections, so his birthday was not so happy for him. we had an airplane themed family party for him. which was actually perfect. turns out he loves airplanes! our sweet west. so grateful he's in our family!

halloween is always a favorite at the hadlock house! we did all the fun fall activities. cornbelly's and the pumpkin patch and picked out our pumpkins at our favorite farmers house. quincy had a little party with some friends. she had said she was going to be a witch for months and of course, the minute her friend grace walked in as cinderella, quincy had to change into her cinderella dress too. then her friend winnter had a halloween birthday party...quincy wanted to be a "fairy ballerina" that day. (still hadn't worn the witch costume). sean's sister and mom had a cute party for all the cousins. i was out of town and have no pictures though! sean and i had a dinner party with some friends. homemade chili, of course. our halloween tradition. then cards, separated by guys and girls. we like it that way. then finally on halloween we did a little trick or treating with the kids. and by little, i mean maybe 4 houses. it was raining and cold. but quincy wore her witch costume!! i was so glad. and west was THE cutest tiger in the world.

Image

i have no thanksgiving pictures??? what was i doing? oh wait, i do have one. we texted this to sean to tell him we were on our way. so pretty.
Image

our tradition is to open our christmas pajamas thanksgiving night. west looked like a little grandpa in his and that one of quincy posing by the tree kills me.

as soon as santa hits the mall, we visit him! provo towne mall is always our favorite. santa magically made it snow from the ceiling while we were there. there is a train that drives around the bottom floor of the mall and Q and i took a ride. such a fun time!

all the christmas shopping was a bit much for west. i love this picture. so him. he is the type to just lay down and relax anywhere. :)

we had a great christmas morning at our house. sean's parents came over to open gifts with the kids. later we went to harris's to open more gifts and hang with my family. jodee has some pictures that i just tried to steal from her blog, but apparently my sister has gone private without inviting me...hmmm, weird.

right before chrsitmas we started packing up our things. we got the keys to our new home on december 27th and were all moved in by new years weekend. this was the main reason i had our all christmas decorations up before thanksgiving. i knew we would probably move right after christmas and i wanted to be able to enjoy our last christmas in that house. we only moved a few minutes away, still in the same city. we miss our old neighbors and love our new ones. moving is bittersweet and i never want to do it again. seriously. it was the worst thing ever! we are going to have to die living in this house.

the 2nd weekend in january, quincy had her first ever dance recital. it was a proud moment for sean and i. :) she was great. i really am proud of her. she loves dance so much and even though she is up to a year younger than all the girls in her class, she keep right up. she is filled with talent, this one.
Image

these two have become bffs. i love it. she is motherly and kind to him and he thinks no one is funnier than she is. love that they are so close.

sean and i and his mom and sister took quincy and her cousin kaja to the cinderella ballet at byu. they got to meet all the dancers before the show. it was a dream come true for them. :)

disney on ice with rasmussens. quincy convinced her dad to buy her a blue snow cone. she always chooses blue treats that turn her lips, teeth, and tongue blue. always great for pictures.

march 28th, quincy turned 3 years old. i can't believe it. she is so precocious and funny. she always asks to wear make up, get her ears pierced, and ride a bus to school. she talked a lot about turning 3 before the big day, asking what kinds of things 3 year olds get to do. i think she thought turning 3 was the end of being "too little" for things. her favorite books are fancy nancy. does that surprise you? so we decided on a fancy nancy party months before. it turned out darling. she loved having her friends over to celebrate and be fancy! love her so much!

april 15th, sean had a birthday! 36. he's getting up there. :)

i got to go on a girls trip the weekend of sean's birthday. what a nice husband/ bad wife, huh? it was glorious! so needed, and so much fun! we stayed in beverly hills. we ate great food. shopped. had some pool time. the weather was just right. a perfect trip!

i decided to try yarn twists in quincy's hair. my friend beverly had done them on her tein girls that are quincy's age. she explained it to me and sent me the you tube link. so i chose a day when we could be home all day and we went for it. we started at 10AM and finished at 9PM. i could do about 3-5 braids and then we needed a break. plus lunch, nap, dinner, and potty breaks. we ended with almost 100 braids! she was a trooper! but we were both SO GLAD to be done by the time we finished. after we were done, i hated them. i thought i did a bad job, that they looked weird on her and made her look too old. but they have grown on me. it's so good for her hair to be in them too. and easy! we spray with a leave-in conditioning product and that's it! they have been in 4 weeks now and she still loves them. i need to take them out soon. she'll probably make me do it again. :)

since we have only had a handful of nice weather days, we have taken full advantage of them. west is dying to go outside all the time. he'll bring me his shoes and say, "go!". if anyone heads for the garage door, he comes running! he'll be thrilled when it's summer and he can play outside everyday.

may 27th quincy had her end of year dance recital. she has done so great all year and it was so fun to see her perform again. she is a natural!

i didn't say much about west and all the milestones west has hit. he is a talker! he repeats everything now. he likes to run full speed all around the house. he loves airplanes, cars, tractors, trucks...anything that goes. he is the happiest little boy i know. i'm completely obsessed with him and already never want him to get married and leave me. :)

and that basically catches you up on some of the things that have gone on since i was a blog quitter. we have been happily busy.
