The Story Behind the Trim Puller: From Home Project to Award-Winning Product

A Simple Home Renovation Sparks Innovation

InventHelp-Intromark is pleased to announce that the Lenart Trim/Molding Puller is now available for purchase at select Lowe’s and The Home Depot stores, as well as on The Home Depot and Walmart websites. These international brands are recognized throughout the world as leaders in the consumer goods and hardware and tools industries. Combined, these stores and websites receive millions of visitors per month.

Edward Lenart, the inventor of this innovative hand tool, developed the Lenart Trim/Molding Puller while performing renovations in his own home. He attempted to remove the molding and trim from a couple rooms while keeping them intact for re-use, a task that proved to be much more difficult than he initially thought. After developing and improving upon a few prototypes, he felt ready to bring his invention to market. In July of 2009, he approached InventHelp and purchased their services in the hopes of finding a company interested in licensing his invention.

How InventHelp Assisted the Invention of the Trim Puller

Fast forward to January 16, 2014, when a licensing deal was executed between InventHelp-Intromark and Partsmaster, which is a division of NCH Corporation and a well-known manufacturer and distributor of hand tools. Partsmaster’s exclusive licensing deal for the Lenart Trim/Molding Puller provided them with the flexibility to create more prototypes, conduct field testing, research manufacturing costs and engage in market research. From there, they were able to secure a distribution deal with The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Walmart.

The Growth of the Trim Puller Product Line

What started as a single invention has since grown into a full Trim Puller product line. The original tool has inspired several variations, including:

  • Trim Puller Mini – for smaller, detailed jobs
  • Floor Lifter – designed for removing flooring with less effort
  • 10” Self-Prying Pro Bar – the newest addition for 2025

In 2023, the Trim Puller earned the PTIA Tool Innovation Award. According to the organization, “the Zenith Trim Puller will pay for itself the first time you use it.”
