Deep Listening: The Crow and The Crone

Art by Corrine Bayraktaroglu    Crow and crone share dusk— black feathers, silvered hair meet, time bows, listening.   I have talked about this before on my blog a long time ago , a practice called dadirri, deep listening. I can’t do traditional meditation and focus on breathing. I don’t mind doing breathing exercises but sitting for an hour focused on my breathing absolutely freaks me out. Dadirri was a game changer for me. What is it? Dadirri , pronounced da-did-ee, is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning inner deep listening. It’s a cultural practice that teaches you to listen deeply, sit in stillness, reconnect with ourselves, others and the land. It doesn’t require classes, or something to be packaged, exploited or monetized. I pretty much practice dadirri anywhere, preferably outside , but if I'm at a doctor's waiting room , or stuck somewhere it very calming.
