Doing her own laundry at the age of 2!

Alexis got a play washing machine for Christmas and we caught her last night actually doing her own laundry! She had gotten clothes out of her closet and was running them through her washing machine. Jonathan got her a basket to put them in when they were clean and a fabric softener sheet and this kept her busy forever last night! Doing her own laundry at the age of 2, it doesn't get much better than that!

Christmas Day!

Jonathan is usually the one that I have to convince to go back to sleep and that it's too early to get up and open presents but I was lucky and this Christmas he actually slept until 7:30! He & I got up and opened our presents to one another and then got started making breakfast since we invited my family and good friend Lori over for breakfast. Alexis then woke up around 8:00 and was ready to start the present unwrapping!

ImageShe was so excited to see her new kitchen! Her favorite part about it is the cell phone and fridge. She has already cooked us a lot of good food!

ImageWe headed back over to my parent's house so that Alexis could open gifts from them and also my brother Taylor called us from the Dominican Republic! Alexis LOVED to unwrap presents, it didn't matter to her if she got to keep what was inside it. So basically this Christmas no one was able to unwrap any of their own gifts, Alexis did it for them and then just showed them what they got!

ImageShe got her very own computer from Grandma & Grandpa Anderson and she hasn't stopped playing it since Christmas! She knew exactly what it was the second she unwrapped it! We are just hoping that this will keep her off of our computers!

Christmas Eve

We had a great Christmas Eve, we had breakfast and a movie with the Jensen's and then we went to my grandparents that night for dinner and a program and then off to my parent's house to finish out the night.

Image
Alexis was an angel in the Anderson Nativity. She refused to wear the angel headband, she only wanted to wear the crown!

ImageThis is her Cars racetrack from Grandma and Grandpa, she was excited to play with it!

ImageIt looks like Grandpa and Alexis have had a long day! Jordan gave Alexis a Dora dvd so this is how the 2 of them ended the night!

She's still liking Santa

ImageAlexis was lucky enough to visit Santa again before Christmas! Our neighbors were nice enough to convince Santa to make a "home visit" and invited the neighborhood kids over to sit on his lap and get a little treat bag from him. Alexis was so excited to be able to sit on his lap and once again, just jumped right up there and talked to him without a problem. We were happy to hear that she has now decided that she would like "Pooh Bear and Tigger" for Christmas and we have those items already secured! Merry Christmas!

Santa Claus

ImageAlexis went to visit Santa Claus at the mall last night and she was such a big girl! She sat on his lap without a problem and talked to him and told him that she would like "Elmo" for Christmas. (unfortunately she is getting nothing "Elmo" related this year)

A day at the hospital

Yes, we had a day at the hospital yesterday! Tuesday morning Alexis managed to get a hold of some of my medicine and I caught her in the act of eating a pill. I called Poison Control and they told me that there is the possibility of her experiencing a seizure with this type of medicine so to take her to the ER. Jonathan rushed home from work and we were on our way down to the ER. Once in the ER they made her drink a charcoal drink that would help absorb the medicine before her body absorbed it and we hoped that we would be on our way home, but little did we know the hospital had other plans for us.

They told us that she could experience a seizure up to 12 hours after the intake and that she would have to be admitted to the hospital for the duration of the 12 hours so that they could watch and monitor her, so we were off up to the Pediatric ward of the hospital. Alexis was having the time of her life with the special treatment the hospital was giving her (2 stuffed animals, a new blanket, a hat, all the ice cream she wanted, and cupboards full of movies) and Jonathan & I were trying hard not to go stir crazy in the hospital room, not to mention chasing Alexis up & down the hallways and trying to entertain her in her room.

I am happy to say that Alexis is completely healthy and we luckily never had a seizure scare. We were preparing for the worst case scenario and we are so happy to not have that happen. We finally were able to discharge from the hospital around 11:30 last night and head back home to our own beds and get a good nights sleep!

We are very lucky, this could have been a lot worse and I know I have learned a lot from this, I'm just praying that Alexis has learned her lesson too! After going through an experience like that it makes me realize how blessed we are to have a healthy little girl. And a big thank you to all of the doctor's and nurses at Mountain View Hospital in Payson for all of their work and attention that they gave Alexis, not to mention her awesome pediatrician who stopped by last night to check on her!

SNOW!! Watching & Playing

It finally started snowing again on Saturday morning, and Alexis sure was excited to see it! We had to bring her chair over to the sliding door so that she could sit and watch it fall.

Image

Image
On Sunday after church Jonathan and Alexis finally got a chance to go outside and play in the snow for the first time this year. She was so excited to get on her coat, hat, gloves and boots!

ImageShe loved to just grab the snow and throw it up in the air.

ImageIsn't she cute!?

Our first Utah Flash game

ImageLast night we went to our first Utah Flash basketball game and we had a lot of fun! We went with Melissa(Taylor's girlfriend) and her brother Gustav and they were really nice to help me keep Alexis entertained! We had seats right back the Flash bench so we saw all sorts of "behind the scenes" stuff. Jonathan was lucky enough to snag Kyrylo "Fess" Fesenko's wristband after the game which made his night. Alexis thought the best part was the Flash Fox mascot who came and visited her a few times and she gave him high five. She has now been talking about him since then to anyone who will listen!

Image
Alexis couldn't even take her eyes off of the game for the picture!

What a BIG girl!

ImageImageNEW HAIRCUT!

I finally decided that Alexis' hair was getting too long and stringy and that she had proven that her hair does grow and grows very quickly. I was stuck in the "baby hair" mind set where I was just grateful for every hair on my little girl's head and wouldn't cut it for fear of it never coming back.

She was so great and sat on my lap for about 30-40 minutes while my neighbor cut it. The only thing she did not like was the blow drying, round brush and the razor on her neck.

I wanted to make sure and capture her haircut today while it is still looking done because lets be honest, I'm not sure how many mornings I will actually be able to round brush her hair, my hair barely gets that sort of treatment!

Doesn't she look so big!? I guess I don't have a baby anymore, she is officially a big girl now! (besides not being potty trained, we're working on that!)

Signing Time!!

Image
On Saturday we went to the Provo Towne Mall to see Rachel with Signing Time! Alexis LOVES the show Signing Time and constantly amazes us with all of the signs that she knows and uses.

Rachel & Alex were at the mall and did some story telling as well as autographed items and took pictures. Alexis didn't know what to think with Rachel right in front of her and was very excited to have a book signed by both Rachel & Alex. We have a lot of fun!

Girl's Night

ImageTonight was "Girl's Night" for Alexis & I. Jonathan went out for a "Guys Night" at the Jazz game with a few of his guy friends so it was just Alexis & I at home tonight. We decided to order pizza and have a picnic on the floor in the family room and watch a show.

Alexis didn't know what to think about this. When the pizza came she went right to the table and sat down. I told her that we were going to do something fun tonight and go have a picnic in the family room. She didn't believe me until I brought everything into the family room and then she realized that I was serious. She was so funny because she had to sit exactly how I was sitting and would put her plate and drink where I did. I also had a lot of napkins there just in case anything happened and she used all of them cleaning up her hands every time she took a bite, it was almost as if she didn't want anything bad to happen so that I would never let her do this again.

She always keeps me laughing and it's amazing how quickly kids learn and pick up on things. I am lucky to have her!

Our Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend and thought that we would post a few pictures to let you know some of the fun things we did!

Image
Thanksgiving night
We had Thanksgiving with the Anderson extended family and it wore Alexis out, as you can see by this picture!

Image
Friday night
Mandy & I decided to go and enjoy ourselves at a movie and left the kids home with Gavin & Jonathan for the night. The kids had a blast playing together and the guys barely survived the night, thanks Gavin & Jonathan for giving us the night away.

Image
She makes her Dad so proud! Jonathan's favorite thing to do lately is play Guitar Hero on the Wii and Alexis has picked up the love of it. She looks good, doesn't she!?

Image
Saturday afternoon
Jonathan is a big BYU fan and the Jensen family has both BYU and Utes fans so this was a big game. We went to my parent's house to watch the big game with them and we all wore our supportive clothing for BYU. It was a good game and we were happy to come out victorious.

Potty Time?

ImageAlexis & I have slowly been working on the whole potty training experience. She LOVES to sit on the potty but hasn't quite figured out that she is supposed to do something while on it.

On Wednesday Alexis & I locked ourselves in the bathroom and I had her sit on the potty while we read books and sang songs, hoping that she would go on accident and I could point out to her what she just did and make a big deal out of it, but that never happened.

Tonight she wanted to sit on the potty before she went to bed but instead of trying to do anything she just kept asking for more and more books the whole time she was on it. I guess you have to start somewhere right!?

Happy Meal Head

ImageTonight Alexis decided to use her happy meal box as a hat while she ate. She insisted that she wear it the entire time. We think it's a good look for her.

We love this game!

ImageMichelle and I were lucky enough to get away from Alexis for an evening (thanks Aunt Ginger) and go to a Jazz game with Michelle's parents. The Jazz kicked the trash out of the Kings that night which was awesome! I love the Jazz and basically watch every game. Michelle likes to go to the games but does not like to watch them on TV, so she and I have made a deal that I can watch the games if I keep track of Alexis while she goes into the bedroom and watches one of her hundreds of TV shows (thank goodness for DVR's!). I think it's a pretty good deal.

Nap time?

It was time for a nap and this is how Alexis came into the room. Doesn't she look so glamorous for her nap?

She is such a big help!

Image
Alexis LOVES to help me with the laundry. We were on the bed and I was folding her clothes and she decided that she would like to help and "refolded" her clothes. She was sincerely thinking she was helping so I just couldn't say anything to her because it was so sweet. Needless to say I had to entertain her with something out of the room so that I could refold them!

We finally painted!!

After living in our home for about a year and a half we finally decided that it was time to commit and get rid of our white walls! My mom and Melissa were so helpful and entertained Alexis for a few hours (since a toddler isn't the best thing to have around when painting) and Jonathan & I got to work.

ImageHere's Jonathan hard at work! He was dreading this, but loves the finished product!

ImageMost of the work was all of the taping and moving our furniture out of the way. The painting was the easy part!

Image
Here is a closer look at the color after it's dried and all of the tape is taken off.

Image
The finished product! It has changed the whole look of our house! We are going to tackle the kitchen and laundry room next weekend!

Alexis' First Shiner

Image

Day 4
(Wednesday, Nov 7th)
sorry for such a close-up!

Image
Day 3
(Tuesday, Nov 6th)
Alexis thinks taking pictures of her eye is funny!

Image

Day 2
(Monday, Nov. 5th)

Alexis had a run-in with a bar stool last night and has a nice shiner/goose egg to proof it. She scared us last night, but it could have been a lot worse so we are very thankful. This picture was taken last night about an hour after it happened. Tune back in for updated pictures as her eye becomes more black and blue as it sets in.

Going shopping

ImageAlexis was able to go to Toys R Us today and pick out a toy with a gift card that she was given. She picked out a shopping cart and she has LOVED it today! She had to bring her Dora purse and baby doll with her while she shopped.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

ImageAlexis was so excited to officially go trick or treating! She thought that she need both her candy bucket and her Dora purse. She is such a girl!

ImageI try really hard to remember to get pictures of Alexis & I together since I am usually the one behind the camera taking all of the pictures! Can you believe how old my little girl is getting!?

Trunk or Treat!!

Image
Image
Our ward had a Trunk or Treat on Saturday for Halloween! Alexis loves Cookie Monster and mimics him eating cookies so we thought it was only right to be Cookie for Halloween. She now thinks that every time she tells me Trick or Treat that I am supposed to give her candy. What have we started here!?! She doesn't look too thrilled in these pictures but we had to fight her to take the costume off! Happy Halloween!!

It's Carving Pumpkins Time!!

ImageWe carved our first family pumpkin on
Friday at my parents house. Jonathan did all of the work we just cheered him on! Look at what a good job he did carving Dora the Explorer for Alexis! Absolutely anyone who knocks at our door she has to show them her Dora Pumpkin on the porch.

Sunday mornings

Image
Image
We are lucky because Jonathan made us breakfast on Sunday morning and as you can see the hot chocolate was a hit with Alexis. She is so funny because she always props her legs up on the counter while she eats, pretty flexible huh!?

Checking your heartbeat

Image
Alexis is very good at giving doctor check-ups(since she has been to so many doctor's in her first year of life!!). She loves to check your heartbeat and she even makes the "boom, boom" noise of your heart while doing it. She cracks us up and is always coming up with something new!

Painting her 1st picture

Image
ImageAlexis LOVED painting with water(we don't dare give her anything else yet!). As you can see she concentrates very hard and she is a perfectionist, like her dad!

Alexis & Sammi

ImageAlexis was so excited to have her friend Sammi come and play last Friday night! They are so much fun together because they are finally both at the right ages to play together. We love Kenyon, Amber & Sammi and we are always so happy when they come to visit from Ogden!
