Update Part 2

I have been collecting vintage powder compacts for awhile now and wanted to incorporate them into my cross stitch. I have turned them into needle holders by putting a piece of white sheet magnet where the powder used to be. Each one is different from the others and may have a flaw or two, but that’s the beauty of them. Some even have initials or a name on them. Thanks for looking at my new project. 🙂 The picture is clickable for a larger one 🙂 Oh, these were Christmas gifts for some of my stitching friends – I’m still working on more 🙂

Catching Up, Part One

I collect the white jars that used to hold facial cream. The old bed spring makes a good flower/vase holder. Up the other way you can put an old hankie in it in a cone shape. The beautiful doll pincushion was a gift from Sharon as well as the tiny sunflower pincushion and the lower right white jar. The basket was from an antique shop and it seems brand new and was a great price even with the signature. All pictures are clickable for enlarging.

Updates on Bed & Breakfast in June.

The last of June 10 family members went on vacation in Palacios, TX, and stayed at the Peaceful Pelican B&B. Thanks to a wonderful nephew, we had run of the entire 3 story, 5 bedroom house. Across the street the men spent a lot of time fishing. For a small fishing town, Palacios has several nice thrift-type stores where my sister-in-law and I amused ourselves 🙂 I didn’t get the FISH pictures on here because they just wouldn’t show up :(.

Framing Frenzy

Awhile back I took some xs pieces over to my frame closet in our storage trailer and matched most of them up with frames. I’m just now getting in the framing mood and have an update. As always, thanks so much for taking time to check these out. 🙂

This one-color piece actually has a lot more to it. There is a beautiful huge mermaid, but I got tired of messing with it and thought this was a good stopping point. It’s on 16 ct. hand-dyed fabric that is just gorgeous in person.

This is from the Grand Canyon kit I got while on vacation there in 2007. Below this update is a closer picture of it.

This is Love Birds and San-Man Rose. I love these frames and knew they would come in handy one day! I buy them when I see them instead of wishing I had later LOL

Twas the night… by JBW. This is one of several adorable charts in this series. I decided to frame this instead of make into a tree ornie.

Latest finished XS and it’s about time LOL

In October, 2007, we went to the Grand Canyon. I got this kit there. We had the best vacation ever and went to many other place besides the Grand Canyon. This has been a UFO for quite awhile and recently I made myself finish it. It’s totally xs with many MANY color changes.

Can’t remember title of this piece, but it was fun to xs.

A Bride’s Tree Ornie, but I xs’d it because I love things with pinecones.

This is by JBW and comes with other charts, too.

This is a bd card I xs’ed for my best friend, Bobbie Sue, from Louisiana. We have been friends for 45 or so years. Thanks for looking 🙂 I couldn’t get the typing beside the right pictures. Just read down – ackkkkk

Estate sale finds and I’m going back tomorrow!

Went to a great estate sale today, but they didn’t have all the boxes emptied and will have everything out tomorrow. Here is what I got today: This is an original Clyde Gray painting on tiles. I thought the info on the back was interesting, too. Next is a beautiful (in person) framed picture of the Last Supper. I couldn’t get a better picture for some reason. Then there are two wonderful vintage brooches and tomorrow I’m going thru the jewelry a little better 🙂 I got this nice white plate to use later for a xs “frame”. Last is the Jonathan & David kids holding a 50th anniversary plate. We’re not there yet, but working toward it 🙂
