Food pictures

Image

We had a great thanksgiving with lots of yummy food. These are the pumpkin pies that the kids helped me make. We had so much fun. D decided that we could do a lot more cooking if we had more kids, because they are such a big help in the kitchen. We did have fun with all our friends, missed our family and ate more then we needed too.

My challenge

Her favorite outfit is the tutu. It goes with everything and you can wear while doing about anything and she looks so cute in it. The wings accompany it on occassion along with a wand that she waves and says bippity boppity boo. In case you didn't notice she is a hard one to capture on film--or digital camera...I guess maybe if we upgraded to one of those really fancy ones I could get a shot every now and again, probably not. We love her she is a bundle of fun.

Sorry I will try harder to actually get the front of her next time.

Okay well it is no remodel on HGTV's Divine Design, but I do think that it is an improvement. We are glad to be done for now. It may be a few more months before I can get Joe to paint again, it is a pretty big room.

Still here

We have been busy doing things inside and outside on the house. Of course there is always the regular cleaning which I find myself slipping further behind on--when you don't use the bathroom it is hard to remember to go in and clean it.

I have also been working on projects - painting and making curtains for S's room. This took a lot more time then I was thinking. I am glad that Joe was motivated because I wouldn't have finished it.

We painted and got new shelves in the pantry. I am sure I did a few more projects, but I can't really think of them right now. We are really excited for the upcoming week. A few days off of school for everybody. Hanging out with some old friends. And the Friday morning shopping blitz - well - maybe not.

It was so fun to have our cousins here to trick or treat with us.

Aren't they so cute. It is hard to get a picture of all those kids at the same time. It was the best weather that we have experienced for halloween in a while maybe the mid sixties, it was so fun to be outside. I have to go enjoy more of this great weather we are having.

All dressed up

I only wish that I had this years costume's ready. I wish I had a scanner for some of the earlier costumes that I made with my sister when A was a baby. They were so cute. Isn't dressing up so much fun.

Thanks to all my sisters for coming to visit me. We had a whirlwind trip to Nauvoo. It was fun to just spend time together and amazing that everyone made it. My kids keep talking about random facts they learn from that one aunt, there are so many it is hard to keep them straight. Thanks for sharing your photos, I managed to go the whole weekend and not take one.

Great times in St. Louis

St. Louis has been really great lately. First, the weather has been perfect the last 3 weeks. Lots of sunshine and nice temperatures. Second, we have been out on some really fun outings the last few weeks.

We had a great time at Busch stadium checking out the Cardinals. The kids love baseball. We went early and watched some batting practice up close. The kids favorite part was staying up late and watching fireworks when they hit a homerun.

Image

We also went down to this ranch south of St. Louis with a big private lake. It was beautiful to get out of town and into the country. Plus the fishing was great. The kids caught a bunch of fish, but the catch of the day was the cat fish. We baited him with powerbait, hooked and let him run for a while and slowly brought it in. Nothing like a big slimy fish.

Image

There was a 'light up the night' balloon show at Forest Park, which was really cool. These hot air balloons would simultaneously light up at the sound of the horn. It was really quite a sight.

Image

A and D had a great time at 'Arthur at the Park'. They got to meet a lot of the pbs characters. But as you can see S was not as thrilled about the whole experience.

Image

Last, but not least, the zoo is always a good outing. We had great time with the baby giraffe and tigers, plus the carousel and train ride.

Happy First Day of Autumn

The middle of August D started asking when it would be fall. Today is the day, at least on the calendar. Now the question is "is my birthday today?", Luckily we will only have a little over a week of that question. Some leaves are starting to change and soon they will be falling so he can jump in them--his favorite thing to do in the fall.

Rainy Day

It has been raining all day today. The perfect day to cuddle up on the couch and read your favorite book. Well maybe not my favorite book, but one I have been waiting to read "Breaking Dawn". The perfect thing to go with my book of course is 5 movies from the library and a bag of cookies so there will be no disruptions.

So that is how I wish my day went. Unfortunately the guilt gets to me and I still have to do the dishes, cook lunch and take kids to and from school. School has started for D, this was his first week.

Other exciting news, oh there isn't. Life is good. Joe is busy with school. A is enjoying her new school and making new friends. S is asserting her independence and opinion when ever possible. I finished my Michigan quilt and started making a bed skirt for A bed.

Something funny

My visiting teachers came over today and when they were wrapping up they asked if they could do anything for me. S was sitting next to me and immediately responded with a "yes" and grumbled something about a booger while putting her finger up her nose. She has had a little cold lately and has had a lot of them so they are in luck. She is so cute.

It is amazing how fast August is flying by. We enjoyed the last few days of the summer in Nashville, TN playing with cousins. It was so fun to see them. I had a birthday. School started. It is crazy how early it started, but A was excited to go and is loving it. We have been enjoying the cooler days in here at the many parks around.
