A Snowy Surprise

ImageWhile hanging pictures around our new apartment, Joe looked out the window and saw some deer! According to him there were some really nice bucks out there with some doe. He ran outside in his pajamas to get a better look.
ImageThere were eight in total!
They were all huge!
I watched from our windows as they traveled
from place to place and eventually traveled
across the street and up into the mountains.

Tis the Season

ImageMerry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

December is here and so are the holidays.
Joe and I are so excited for all of exciting events of the season.

Our Blizzard

ImageAbout a week ago we were hit with a blizzard.
Joe and I were blessed to both be home by the time it began.
We had a lot fun looking out our window,
looking out at how far we could see.
ImageThese are some photos we took after the snow began to slow.
ImageThe wind was so strong every inch of the outside was covered.
You can see the build up of snow at our door step.
ImageSnow even made it in and around the stairwell.

And two days after the blizzard we got a foot of snow!
It was up over my boots!!

The Before

ImageWe are moving in a week to our new apartment.
Take a look:
Our kitchen has a wonderful pantry and a disposal!
Also it has a built in hot plate next the stove.
(Our stove currently does not have any numbers
on the knobs too)
ImageWe are spoiled with storage in our new place!
Here is one of the built ins we will enjoy.
ImageOur beautiful blue bathroom.
ImageThis is a whole room for storage!
It will never be this empty again.
ImageFinally I would like to mention the closet doors.
There was a time I thought we would have to go without them.
It was a very wonderful surprise!

All Hallows Eve

ImageJoe and I love Halloween!
It comes during our favorite time of year.
We love to eat treats, dress up, carve pumpkins and be with our family.
ImageLast year we were able to spend Halloween with our family.
We carved pumpkins, ate pizza and chocolate and went trick or treating.

This year however, we could not make it home.

I was still required to dress up though.
I dressed up as my Evil Twin. (Black hair and all)
(I think Halloween is the hardest day to get through as a teacher.)

Today we spend Halloween together.
Throughout the week we watched
Hocus Pocus,Corpse Bride and Young Frankenstein.
Our dinner consists of the Post Family Tradition of Chili and garlic bones.
Next year we will be closer to home
and we are ready with plenty of costume ideas.

First Day of School Questions

Do you have a dog?
Do you have any kids?
Do you have a backyard?
Do you have any babies?
Do you have a fence?
Do you have a cat?
Do you have a trampoline?

I love the way a 1st graders mind works.

The First Signs Of Snow

ImageWe have snow! (However minor it my be)

Why is it that the week of Halloween it always snows?
Growing up my costumes would always have to be big enough
so I could wear my coat underneath.

The first signs of snow each year always makes me think
of the song from White Christmas.
Snow Snow Snow Snow Snow
sung by the great Wallace and Davis with the Haynes Sisters!!

I love this time of year!
It is time to put the snow tires on
and grease up the saucer sled.

If only my husband would let me listen or watch Christmas movies.
Nope!
Not until after Thanksgiving!

Side note: I got my pumpkin roll! Thanks Joe!!!

Goodbye and Hello

ImageAll of my pumpkin students!
Thursday was my last day of my first block student teaching.
We created pumpkin glyphs to celebrate Halloween
and to have a little bit of fun before I said goodbye.
ImageI am sad to be leaving all 31 of my wonderful students
but I am excited to be one more step closer to graduating
and having my own classroom.
I had so much fun with all of my students
and my cooperating teacher was wonderful.

Monday I begin my second block in a first grade classroom!

Memory

ImageThis is a portrait of Joe and me drawn by my dear friend Logan.
She painted it for us as wedding gift.
I always wanted a hand painted picture of my spouse and I.
My parents have a hand drawn picture of the two of them hanging in their bedroom.
I always looked at it and studied their young faces.
Now my future children can do the same.
Thanks Logan!

AND yes we got a new printer/scanner all in one.
Look forward to seeing more than you ever have before.

Being Watched Over

ImageOne night this past week, as Joe and I were getting ready for bed
he shared with me the following story.
Every night in the early morning hours he will wake up.
After checking on me, his beautiful sleeping wife,
he looks behind me and stared at the plant on my nightstand.
In this plant he sees the face of various well known men.
Such as Mark Twain, Einstein, etc.
What do you see?

Unwelcome Visitors

ImageAt long last our house is free of carpenter ants!
After trying several methods to rid ourselves of these pesky pests,
an exterminator still had to be called.
I am so grateful to set foot in my kitchen again.
I am so grateful to be able to sleep
with my bedroom door open again.
I am so grateful to not have ants crawling on my face
(yes it happened ONCE)
I am so grateful to have no more dead ants scattered
on my floor and on the bottom of my foot.

Another Wonderful Performance

ImageAs an early birthday present for Joe, we went to see The Scarlet Pimpernel. We were so excited to see the play. Neither of us had ever seen this play before and sitting down before the curtain went up we realized we did not know any background info on this performance.
By the time our fifteen minute intermission came around, all we could do was share a treat and talk about how much we were enjoying ourselves.
The costumes were amazing and the play itself was hilarious. The audience was rolling with laughter and so were we. This play was a great endto our weekend.
And if I do say so myself a great birthday present.

Some New Artwork

ImageAfter 6 months of having this photo hanging in a studio,
it is finally in our home and all ours!
We are grateful for a little more color in our hallway.
