Our Olivia is three months old!
We did not have a doctor's appointment this month,
but according to our unofficial way of weighing her
she is now 11 pounds or close to it.
Olivia is adjusting to Illinois very well!
Here she is helping her Dad unpack all of his books!
Unpacking and organizing a house is a lot of work with a newborn baby.
We still have some boxes around our house,
but we make progress every day.
Olivia loves to sit up like the big girl she is!
She has never really been a true newborn.
(Not that I have true experience on what a newborn is really like...)
Olivia never had the newborn cry.
She rarely liked to sleep...but is getting better, I hope!
She loves to stand up on her feet,
with Mom and Dad's help of course.
Olivia graduated from her pack'n'play this month.
Her long body did not fit comfortably in it anymore.
Olivia has good nights and bad nights.
She will either be fussy and want to be with Mom the whole night,
or she will be so sleepy a fighter jet could not wake her up,
Olivia loves to stretch out after she sleeps.
She is an expert at stretching.
She lifts her arms above her head, arches her back, and straightens out her legs.
Olivia loves to talk.
She especially loves to talk to her parents.
Olivia and Joe will have wonderfully long conversations together.
I often talk to her about her dreams from her naps or
I will share stories about adventures that she might take one day.
Her voice is so sweet and delicate.
I love hearing it go up and down.
Olivia is an explorer.
She has discovered her fingers.
She loves to shove as many fingers in her mouth as she can.
She is beginning to grab things.
So far she tries to grab some play colorful rings, our fingers and my hair.
Olivia loves tubby time.
What a relief this has been to us!
Olivia has not always loved tubby time.
She used to begin to cry almost immediately and
her crying would last the duration of her tub.
(She had some really quick tubbies!)
Olivia has grown to love the tub and now loves to soak and relax in one.
She gets a little nervous when we first place her in the water,
but then she kicks her feet and plays in the water and has a great time.
She loves to be in the warm water.
Olivia loves to share smiles with whoever is giving her a tubby.
Olivia has been battling cradle cap.
I have heard that babies with long hair often struggle with this.
So we scrub her head with oil and then soap each night.
Isn't she darling all wet and clean with the bubbles atop her head?
Olivia loves getting a tub so much she does not like to see it come to an end.
She still cries after her tub is over and when it is time to get into her jammies.
Hopefully by month 4 she will make improvements on that front.
Olivia has a toy we have named Mr. Owl.
He squeaks, and we are not sure if Olivia loves it or hates it.
With one look from Mr. Owl,
Olivia will stop her fussy mood and stare deep into his eyes!
When she begins to be fussy again
we break out the big guns and start squeaking him.
She just stares at him.
My hope is that she loves looking into his eyes
and is not intimidated by his strong voice.
Olivia has made some improvements when it comes to being in her car seat.
She does not really mind being in it,
for a short period of time,
as long as she is not moving.
Ha!
We are thinking we traumatized her when we drove out here.
And that she does not like to move backwards.
(Her car seat is rear facing.)
But sometimes she lets us put her in the stroller
and push her around.
It is a work in progress.
Olivia is three months old
and we can't believe how much she has grown and changed!
Olivia is our joy!
We love being a family of three.
