The first of April was of course Chris's birthday. It was also Easter Sunday as well as the beginning of our spring break road trip. This year we decided to drive out to Las Vegas, spend a couple of nights, and then head to Utah for some National Park hiking.
While in Las Vegas we had a nice time visiting with our family, celebrated Chris's birthday, and spent time out on the dry lake bed. We shot off rockets, rode in the Razr, and even did some target and skeet shooting.
After Zion's we drove to Bryce Canyon and met up with my sister Keara and her family. We really enjoyed Bryce. It was much less crowded and the views were amazing!
After Bryce we drove back to Las Vegas for a night before continuing on our vacation. We headed to Death Valley National Park. It was pretty dry and hot out there. We did just a couple of small hikes and saw the visitors center. We also stopped on the Native American Reservation and had navajo tacos for lunch. They were delish! We had planned to stay the night out there, but when we arrived at the motel, it did not meet my expectations. Instead, we continued our drive home. We made it around 2am, but it was worth it to be home.
Also in April, Neil achieved his AR certificate for reading at least 25 points, and Grace received her 50 point medal. So proud of my kiddos!
April was also prime season for spring ball. Here's Grace and Neil both playing a bit of catcher.
Neil was given several game balls over the course of his season. He did a really great job this year and had tons of fun!
May:
May was a whirlwind! There was a ton more ball to be played. Here are a few more of Neil in action.
The elementary school had their annual fun run. This year was really fun because we had t-shirts, music, and people motivating everyone to run.
I pretty much drove on every field trip. This one was to Sunol and it was a really fun place to explore. We hiked and learned about the stream. The hills were still green too.
Towards the end of May my sister Bree and her family stopped at our house on their way to Arizona. We spent a couple of nights hanging out and having fun. The cousins always enjoy being together.
Neil was recognized as a student of the month for May. The category was Trustworthiness. Good job Neil!
Memorial Day weekend was a lot of fun. My parents came to town and we went to watch Grace's summer Smoke team play in their first series of games. It was hot out in Lodi, but we had a good time.
The kids also had their end of the year Hoedown, and Neil performed his Jack and the Beanstalk play. It was nice that Grandma was able to see it.
