3 Days Into Snow/Ice-pocalypse
Well, we've made it this far and actually saw some sun today. About 2-3" of ice and snow on the ground and temps staying in the teens during the day and single digits at night. We haven't lost power or had any pipes freeze. Church was cancelled today, which surprised no one, but we wouldn't have tried to get out anyway. It's a 40 minute drive for us on a good day! Schools are cancelled for tomorrow, but Tuesday will see our high temps get up into the 40's. Guess we'll get back to business as usual then. I'm happy to sit and enjoy a little more "hibernation" until then! A few more winter weather funnies:

A Change Is Coming!
As is often the case in Texas, winter weather doesn't really get going until mid to late January. Looks like we are in for some snow, ice and arctic temperatures here over the weekend. My husband asked if we needed anything before the bad weather hits and I assured him we had plenty of bread, milk and toilet paper! Lol!
It sounds strange, but I am kind of looking forward to hunkering down for a few days-provided we don't have frozen pipes or power outages! Our temps are supposed to get down in the single digits for Saturday and Sunday. It will warm back up next week, which is what I like about bad winter weather where we live. It doesn't last long!

The Day After
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with all of our children and grandchildren! Our son and his crew were here the 23rd and 24th and then had to leave early Christmas morning. We spent Christmas Day with our daughter and her family. I don't think I took a single picture, but it's ok-it's all right here in my heart, and it was all wonderful! Today it is quiet and my husband and I are vegging and nibbling on Christmas goodies.
Good grief, it has been a strange autumn and first few days of winter weather-wise. It's supposed to be 85 F today. We will finally cool down on Monday with a high in the 40's and a low in the 20's which is more like normal for us this time of year. All of the trees have lost their leaves, so at least it looks like winter! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

That's how I always feel on September 1st. Maybe it comes from living most of my life in places where summers could be pretty brutal. (...
