Cancun

It's been a while since I last posted, but here are some of the pictures from our recent venture to Cancun. Sorry there aren't more words, but this photo journal has a strict, "no cute" policy (unless it occurs in a picture). I would like to add that all these were taken with the point and shoot, not my big camera, so any deficiencies in the picture (both qualitatively and aesthetically) can be attributed to that (that's a pretty powerful cop-out isn't it?).

Day 1 - Hanging out at the beach

This might be my favorite picture from the whole trip.Image

Day 2 - Xel-ha ecopark

This was Christine's first time out of the country and she was fascinated that they would have a Sam's Club in Mexico. She felt the need to take pictures of everything American in Mexico. For the sake of space I've omitted the others including, BurgerKing, Office Depot, Starbuck's and Converse store. If you'd like to see them, I'll send you a copy.

Christine and me "snuba-ing" at Xel-ha. Christine's eyes tell the story. The entire time we were underwater her eyes were this big. Nervous or excited, you be the judge?Image

Day 3 - Chichen Itza (not Chicken Pizza)

Everyone listening to Victor at Chichen Itza

The man of the trip. Thanks to him we were able to go on this amazing trip (not you Rob, but you're not too bad either).

Snorkeling off Cozumel, taken by our fearless guide Abram. He opened a bottle of beer with his eye! No joke, saw it myself.

Day 5 - Trip Home

Departing view from the front lobby of our hotel. Maybe the saddest day of my life.

How do you know when it's been a good trip?

When you just can't keep your eyes open any longer. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa.

August 2009

Before school started again, we needed one more last vacation, so we headed down to Lake Powell. Here are a couple of choice "extreme" shots.

ImageKaja and chauffeur were the only ones to get out on the tubes this trip.
Image
ImageI had to teach Christine how to skip a rock. What form!
Image
ImageOn our vacation Christine turned the big 24. We substituted a yum-yum bar for cake, and match for candles.
ImageWe took a scenic ride down to Hole in the Rock. Pioneers came down this crack with animals and wagons.
Image
ImageI tried to capture the wonderful night sky at Lake Powell. It's harder than it looks, but I got some okay shots.

July 2009 - Part 2

Our 4th of July festivities continued onto the 5th of July (rough yes, but someone has to do it). We had another barbecue at my parents with more fireworks.

ImageNote to the adventurous soul, don't wave a roman candle over your head...unless you get a cool picture out of it.
ImageDon't worry, they are merely cap guns.

ImageOn a recent trip to the cabin, my dad had the great idea of putting the slip n' slide down the hill at the cabin. Everyone enjoyed it, as you can tell by the looks on their faces. Some of them look more scared, but in the end everyone liked it.

ImageWe also went on a ward campout. I took the opportunity to practice a little bit of night photography.
Image
ImageBelieve it or not, this picture was taken at about 10:30 at night. I learned that you can do a long exposure and the picture looks as if it were taken during the day.
