yes it happened again
She was begging me to play while we were doing yard work. So I kicked her tennis ball so she could fetch it. But she got in the way and the ball (not my foot) hit her in the eye. She yelped and now her eye is swollen...again. The drama never ends with this pup!

a great day
Last week I had my first interview since graduating college. It went really well because Friday I found out that I had a job!! Even though I had no experience, they said they were impressed with me and that I can start part time and build into it as I feel comfortable. I was SOOOO excited! It was such a blessing too because in an economy like this- I was expecting it to take longer than 2 weeks, more than one resume and more than one interview. But things really worked out great! And on top of the excitement from that- we went up to Is. Park for the weekend and for my first time out on Henry's Lake I caught the biggest fish of my life (so far)!! Although I have no idea what it weighed, or how long it was- but I do know it was a cutthroat hybrid and it was heavy and tasted delicious :) A job and a huge fish- I love days like last Friday!

boating
We went boating last saturday to Blacktail! It was cloudy most of the day- but still warm enough. We went with our friends Tyler & Erin, and Abra, Jake & Trin. I only took the elph to shoot and then the batteries died on me so we didn't get the shots of the girls wakeboarding or tubing :( Next time I will be better prepared!!

Bee sting
We are eating lunch yesterday when suddenly we look down at the beggar dog to see that her eye is puffy and swollen! (again!) We had no idea what happened to her- but it looked like it was getting worse right before our eyes. So I rush her to the vet of course fearing that my dog will lose her vision if I neglect it. But when I get there the receptionist tells me the veterinarians are all out to lunch and to come back at 2:00. "Umm...ok. Will she be ok until then? I don't need to do anything?" Apparently not. So I go home and the swelling starts to go down. I get online and google "dog+bee+sting+eye" and find that it is kind of a serious condition. I need to get her to a vet to get the stinger out and yadda yadda. 2:00 rolls around and I take her in to get this stinger removed. Seriously- I'm in the exam room 3 minutes, the Doc comes in, mumbles something about a bee sting, feels Roxy's throat, looks at her gums and runs her thumb over the swelling. "Well, looks like a bee sting. I don't feel a stinger though. I'll just give her a shot of antihistamine and she'll be fine." Before I can even protest that I have my own Benadryl at home, she's got a syringe all ready and it's over and I'm out the door to pay my bill. I'm thinking maybe under $30 because it was so quick and not a big deal. I about CHOKED when the bill was $61.00!!!!! What a CROOK. That's $41 for my 3 minute exam of throat and gums and stinger swipe and $20 for the shot of Benadryl!!!! I was just kicking myself all the way home. It amazes me that in an economy like this she can sleep at night and do that to people who are just trying to treat their animals well and be cautious. Sick and wrong. I learned an expensive lesson- just wait and see what happens next time. Of course Roxy is fully recovered today. Probably even better off than she was before the sting due to the extra attention and love:) But if your dogs eye was this freaky wouldn't you have done the same thing?

Independence Day
This year we decided to wake up at 3:30 a.m. and drive to Driggs and watch the hot air balloons take off. We had never done this before so it was a NEW adventure. I couldn't believe how beautiful the tetons were with the sunrise. There were only about 14 balloons, but it was well worth the early drive. The launch was over by 7:00 a.m. and we were left with the entire day ahead of us so we drove up to Jackson Hole and watched their parade. Little did we know, a celebrity was sitting right across the street from us...Dick Cheney. So we paparazzied him. Jackson's parade was more of a glorified car show and we missed seeing the high school floats that were going on in Idaho Falls. But it was low key and not too crowded. Roxy was with us- she was pretty popular as you can imagine. A ton of people had to stop by and ask us how old, why she is so skinny and tell us about their boxer that died. It was like the same conversation over and over... After the parade we headed to Palisades to walk around on the shore. But when we got there- there wasn't a shore at all! The reservoir is so FULL there is barely room to get a boat in. It's been so long since we have seen it that full. We drove right by the landslide area and saw the buildings that basically lost their foundations from it. Getting up so early made for a long day. We drove back home by 2:00 and slept until the fireworks. My only regret was not getting a reservation to ride in one of those balloons...maybe next year!

my garden
We have been doing a lot of work in the back yard this year. We finally got the fence last fall so it was time to do more than grass back there. We put in some raised vegetable gardens, a few flower beds and some trees. Everything is so small right now. I want a mature garden like...NOW. But patience will pay off I hope. So here are the before and afters. The hopefullys are my photoshopped idea of spreading and growth. And one day living in the country again and having a view that's worth looking at. (No offense neighbors! You know you don't like looking at the back of my house either!) This photoshopped garden is in my top five favorite photoshop projects! Haha- gave me a sense of the "instant gratification" of what the mature garden might look like. If you click on the pictures you can see them larger in a different window. Please ignore that Abe needs to mow our yard for like 2 weeks now! It's a jungle out there...

Ode to Roxy
Hi this is Roxy, the Campbell's dog. My mom said that since it's my birthday I could post a blog of my very own! I am 3 years old today in doggie years and my mom says in people years that would be 21 and finally LEGAL! I guess that means this birthday is a BIG one and my mom really spoiled me of course.
The day started late due to sleeping in. So first thing this morning I got a bath. Yuck! I hate baths but after they are done I am very excited to be clean!! I wanted to be soft and pretty for my big day out.
After my bath, we met up with daddy for lunch at one of my favorite places...Artic Circle! I had the usual: cheeseburger and fries. Yum yum! If only I could eat one everyday- maybe I would not be so skinny...
Then mom took me for a car ride to the coolest store in the world- PetSmart. I got a lot of loves there. The employees are so sweet and like to scratch my head and give me treats! Mom let me pick out a birthday present and she even bought me a package of rawhides to keep me busy. My new toys are awesome! We found a bengal for ISU! We also got an orange frisbee for a dollar! That was a good deal. Hope this frisbee lasts longer than my last one of 10 minutes. Then we had to stop by my auntie Kristi's house to visit and get some birthday hugs. Mom tested out the hammock and Kristi shared some strawberries with me! I took a little nap in the car while it rained and mom was shopping at Home Depot for more plants. She is spending too much money on those things! She could be spending that money on me! Oh well, I'll get her back later when I chew them up...
Later we went to a softball game to watch daddy play with our friends the Wasia's. I could hardly stand watching the little kids play with softballs while I was tied up! But mom finally got our ball back and I chewed and chased it for a while with my friend, Duke. When we got home I opened my birthday toys and chewed, tossed, squeaked and chased them all until I fell asleep! Tomorrow mom says we get to go try out the new frisbee! My birthday was awesome! I'm such a lucky girl :)
