Jeremy turned 40 this month so of course we needed to celebrate.
Proudly wearing his bday present from me.
He took his birthday off of work and we went to lunch with Nana and Gpa R at Joe's BBQ (sadly, the girls were at school and missed out). Mr. O would only eat the bread and baked beans. Apparently we haven't stressed the importance of bbq to him; we will get right on that.
Saturday night we had a Movie in the Backyard night with some friends including a few he hadn't seen in a while.
His movie of choice was "The Man Who Knew Too Little". It was cold enough to need jackets, which we enjoyed. The kids watched movies upstairs and enjoyed staying up late. Thanks to a friend we had a legitimate movie popcorn popper. The entire time (before his bedtime) Mr. O would get a scoop of popcorn and promptly dump it on the patio or grass. You're welcome birds.
We finally made it to the Ostrich Ranch in Picacho Peak. I've only been wanting to go for the last 8 years.
There was a sign that said to feed the ostriches by the food shoot and if you did it by hand, you did so at your own risk. I risked and they were surprisingly not as bitey as I thought they'd be.
The lorakeets were my favorite part of the ranch. They would wiz overhead and land anywhere on your body that they wanted to. The girls took a few minutes to warm up to being covered in birds but did great.
Mr. O felt more comfortable being held and definitely did not like them on his head. He was content to just watch the madness. So glad Gma T and N could come with us (in the background).
Right after this lovely shot the birds got in a yelling match with flapping feathers over who would get the nectar.
E embracing the birds with literal arms wide open.
Bonfire Time
We borrowed a fire pit, made hobo dinners and smores
one night.
Mr. O wanted to warm his hands but wouldn't get any closer. I thought it looked like he was using his Jedi force toflame the fire. The girls wanted to try too.
Do you see this boy? His shirt and face are covered in hot chocolate, dinner and marshmallow. Happy boy!
E loves to set her marshmallows on fire and then blow them out.
Curb your pyro ways, pumpkin; I like my house uncharred.
The only picture of Thanksgiving at Gma T's house. This little man loved the sweet potatoes and kept asking for more.
