One of my New Year's resolutions is to be better (like I used to) about documenting things that are happening in our lives. It's been a few years since I made a family book and I miss it so much, so instead of trying to go back and make up for lost time I will just start fresh. Starting with our December and Christmas. Honestly, since we moved into our home and have been fixing it up most of our time has been focused on that.. so we haven't done too many exciting things outside of the house, but we did have the best Christmas. It gets better every year with the kids. They make it so much fun.
We went on a little ice skating date at the Gallivan Center and to dinner at the Copper Onion.
Santa dropped off a little present on our doorstep at the beginning of the month for these two. They were so excited. It was a big play house that they could color.
Letter to Santa
Trixie was a busy little elf!
Maelee's Christmas program!
They both loved Santa. Hudson walked right in there like he owned the place and sat on Santa's lap. Santa asked him what he wanted and he said presents. Maelee asked for a momma and a baby toy horses and a stuffed animal dolphin. She is crazy about animals.
On Christmas Eve morning Trixie wrapped herself in a present to the kids and left them a sweet note. She said she didn't need her magic anymore because she would be riding home with Santa in his sleigh that night so they could touch her and carry her around for the day. They loved it! We also had to document the last day of "chocolate Santa" as Hudson calls it. He still to this day asks for his daily chocolate. I don't blame him.
We just loved Christmas with our little family. We are so blessed.
This December felt a little different then others. Our house has been so torn apart that it didn't really have that cozy Christmas feeling.. but right before Christmas Jesse got the fireplace primed and we moved our tree into our family room so we could have Christmas morning in there. Even though the fireplace isn't done and the walls aren't painted and we still have a to do list a million miles long.. it was perfect.
Christmas break was a TOTAL bust. We had so many fun plans and couldn't do any of them. A couple weeks before Christmas the kids caught a cold and on Christmas day it seemed like that would be their last day coughing. For a few days after Christmas they were fine, just had their last little coughs you have when you're sick and then they got really sick. So ALL of Christmas break we didn't get out of jammies or bed. It was Netflix all day. We had a really hard time getting them to break their fevers, but finally after about 7 days they started to get better.
Maelee got a lot of art stuff for Christmas so when she felt well enough she did get to do a few fun projects.
Merry merry Christmas to my beautiful kiddos. I hope it was magical. It was sure special watching you all day. We love you so much.
