Cowboy P

Grandpa and Grandma came home from town with a pair of Wranglers for Porter's first county fair. Paired with a hat, button-up shirt and belt Porter was ready!

Love this little boy!

Image

a few of my favorite things

I love so many things we do as a family from August to January. I love picking corn, making apple juice and the annual pumpkin carving party. This last year I was especially sad to miss Black Friday shopping and candy making with Grandma Shaffer and all the girl cousins.

I was so excited when I got to Utah and saw that Grandma saved me some candy. Porter and I even got to spend a day with Grandma, Whit and Kimber making candy and enjoying lunch at Firehouse, our favorite Logan restaurant!

Grandma thought she had taught us enough about candy making that she could sit and enjoy Porter while we destroyed her kitchen; she might think twice next time!

firsts

Since Christmas break, we've experienced a lot of "firsts" with Porter. We love him more and more everyday and enjoy seeing his little personality develop.

Porter loves bath time, especially in the big tub so he can kick his chubby legs.

We must have had a serious case of cabin fever this sunny day; although the sun was shining it was still pretty cold. However, Porter stayed warm and enjoyed our walk to Tim's for a hazelnut hot chocolate!

Porter loves his bath so we thought he'd really like swimming. He was indifferent about the whole experience.

up, up

and bonk!

Jordan thought it would be fun for Porter to sit on his shoulders. Porter liked it on the way up until his little head hit the beam on the ceiling.

It's safe to say Jordan felt just as bad (or worse) as Porter.

blessed

Porter was blessed on January 1, 2012. Jordan gave Porter his blessing; Porter was so lucky to have all his uncles and grandpas there for his special day.

We were so glad both our families could be there for Porter's blessing. It was such a special day.

twenty dozen

We rang in the new year with the Shaffer cousins; a holiday tradition Grandpa and Grandma Shaffer hosted every New Year's Eve growing up. The evening included: a fondue dinner, the number game, wii, games of zonk and fireworks at midnight. I'd like to say I made it to midnight, but, as in year's past, I fell asleep well before! I can blame that on being a new mom and the time difference, right?!?

We missed Bailey this year; we did enjoy the stash of fireworks he left in his room though!
