Back to School

Image
Things seem to be rushing by very quickly. Jamie just started a new semester and Michelle is in the beginning throngs of high school (again).

Brigham Young University is littered with students who have no apparent fashion sense. There are those that really believe Yankee apparel, moon boats, and skinny jeans look good. There friends must be lying to them. I suppose in academia people are allowed to be weird. I won't even get started on the bizarre fashions in the art department. Who would ever marry an artist? I don't know. Anyways, it's funny to be back at school because it seems that when you are here you have never left, and you never had a summer vacation. So maybe that isn't really funny, its more of an awful sinking feeling. Anyways, classes seem to be good (probably because its just review) and seem to already require a multitude of homework. In fact Michelle is typing this while I am studying so that I can multi task. I hope it makes you laugh because she is laughing while she is writing it!

Payson High School is a fun place to work. Some of the coolest things is that there are more trucks than cars in the parking lot, students who are proud to be third generation farmers, and a plethora of Spanish students who think my last name is funny (they will be disappointed when it changes). One of the funImageniest moments was when a girl came to my 3D design class and told me that the counselors just put her in the class but she was sure she couldn't be in it because she can't see 3D. I almost laughed out loud. High school students are so weird. I can't even believe that they ever make it through that stage (and some never do). The good thing about all of this is that I am discovering that I love coming home from work and seeing jamie. Being in the same state is a whole lot easier. Anyways, the thing that makes Payson High the best is the other teachers and the administration that I work with. They are super nice, and support me when I have to send students to the office to shave (often) and when I have to kick the druggies out of the hallway. Pretty sweet, eh!

Oh well, that seems to be enough for now. We will post more latter when we aren't surrounded by other students in the Library.

We're back - and with pictures! This just happens to be a random assortment of the small collection of pictures we have taken recently (neither of us seems to be very good at remembering to take pictures, sorry). Although none of these are our engagement photos. Once those are edited we will post them so you may all see our silly faces. Awesome. Anyways, without further annoyance....

The new LaPierre family singers. Their first performance was on a double date. Cris and Jamie sang to each other all night long. I have one word for you... Harmony!

This was a random reception that we crashed.
It was for a good cause - long lost Boston friends are always worth it.

First BYU football game of the season. BYU vs. New
Mexico. We won. Sorry Katie and Micah. In your
defense there were some bad calls against you. Michelle thought it would be good to post this picture so that you can be introduced to some of her family members. Most of you will see them in December and I felt it good to warn you of there eccentricity. Lets just say in December you will find out what the term DeMartini really means. This is her dad and her littlest brother Simon.

Well, thats all for now folks. Peace!

The truth and nothing but...

Image

Well, this is long overdue as noted by the fact that the last entry was one year ago. A lot has happened since then. To recap.... last friday, July 25 th, was a most memorable occassion. Jamie took michelle on a picnic to the North Point Park (bless that beautiful park). It was a beautiful summer day full of sunshine. Jamie strategically timed this outing to occur just before sunset, as he knew that this was michelles favorite time of day. They found a spot on some grass over looking the mouth of the Charles River in Boston. Of course it was perfect for some frisbee throwing. Jamie practiced his special modes of catching, i.e. behind the back, under the leg, and on one finger. It was a beautiful thing to behold. After a brief interlude of frisbee throwing jamie and michelle sat down to feast on a meal prepared by jamie, which consisted of chicken salad over chips and cut up fruit. Michelle loved it! In fact jamie will be Imagerequired to prepare this meal later on at special occasions. Once the meal concluded jamie and michelle commenced with more frisbee tossing as they moved to an adjacent hill (aka a city on a hill cannot be hid) with the Boston Skyline encircling them. Walking around and conversing jamie strove to keep them within the departing sunlight, to no avail. After relocating three times jamie asked michelle if she remembered the first movie they watched together. As it was over a year ago michelle had to stop and think, but after only a moments hesitation michelle responded with a confirming 'yes' (michelle remembered it to be The Count of Monte Cristo). Jamie then asked if he could tell her his favorite part. Michelle said sure while thinking what does that got to do with the price of eggs. The next thing she realizes is that jamie is reaching inside his pocket and pulling out a piece of fabric (which happens to be from a homemade, Lynne DeMartini bar of soap) and tying it around her finger (THE ring finger). Knowing the significance of this move as demonstrated in this specific movie, michelle laughed, cried, and asked if he was serious. Jamie nodded his head in confirmation. As they walked back to their stuff michelle asked jamie 'Are you going to get on a kneImagee?'. Jamie haltingly said 'Not yet'. Confused but still dazed michelle and jamie walk on. As they reached their stuff jamie asked if he could explain somethings that had been going on lately and seemed to be starting to sit down on the blanket. Before michelle knew what was happening jamie had pulled a ring box from his backpack and was on bended knee. Jamie grabbed michelles hand and then asked with all of Boston watching (at least those on the duck tours) 'Will you marry me?'. With tears in her eyes michelle said 'YES!!' And thus we see the beginning of eternity, and a slightly more consistent blog.
