Toddler Talk

There is something so sweet about listening to my little (almost) 21 month old babble to himself in his crib when he should be falling asleep.

(In a cute-childish voice)
"Miss daddy."
"Miss daddy."
(In a serious-mother tone)
"I know."
"I know."
(This is a conversation we have often: when he's tired or upset about anything. But it's much funnier when he's having it with himself.)

Or his own version of Goodnight Moon.

"Goodnight cars."
"Goodnight moon."
"Goodnight piano."
"Goodnight train."
"Goodnight Daddy."
"Goodnight Mommy"
"Goodnight Pooh Pooh." (His beloved stuffed Winnie the Pooh)

And then there is just the indecipherable conversations I can't understand from the bottom of the stairs but I love listening.

Goodnight B!

Catch Up

Let's see, things I haven't posted about:

We celebrated Jared's birthday at the end of March with pupusas and homemade Lemon Curd Cheesecake.

We celebrated Easter also at the end of March (it sneaks up on you with it comes in March and not April by the way). We had friends over for dinner and an Easter egg hunt in our front yard. We had such a great time with our friends and B had an awesome time running around the front yard.

Let's see, April came and went in a blink of an eye. How does that happen? Our days are just normal. B continues to learn so much every day. He's constantly learning new words and he's gotten so tall (which is a big inconvenience-we have to keep finding taller places to put things). He is still so darn cute and makes us laugh every day. He loves his book corner still and building blocks. He never gets tired of going outside and he is definitely entering toddler-hood. He's still very good natured but has definitely taken to tantrums when he doesn't get his way or we don't understand what he wants. Fortunately he can say "cup" clearly so we at least know when he needs a drink.

He happily eats most things we give him:

He likes to "wrock":

He says "chee" for cheese whenever he sees a camera:

And we adore him!

We also had the chance to take a family fun day and go up to Seattle. We took Bradley to the aquarium since we had a Groupon for it and he liked seeing the fish, birds, seals and other animals. We finally gave in and bought one of those doggie-backpack-leashes. I feel guilty about it and yet it kept us from losing him so many times that I'm grateful we did it. We had such a great day at the aquarium and then we headed to our most favorite place in Seattle-Bakery Nouveau.  Their twice baked almond croissant is melt-in-your-mouth, to die for! We try to stop at the bakery if we're ever up in Seattle. We also were able to make a stop at Trader Joe's. Awesome! I love getting out as a family.

Jared went on a twenty-four hour camping trip with the Scouts. He admitted it's not as fun being an adult and  just being the chaperone instead of getting to participate in all the activities but he still had a great time and they had good weather, which was a blessing. April came and went in a whirl and we're still doing well.  I'm sorry this got so long but B is napping and I had to take advantage of it and record a month and half's worth quickly.

Crafty Time

So I try really really hard not to get onto my Pinterest account too often.  It can be fun but addicting (which can turn into a lot of time wasted-at least for me). But every once in a while I need a project, an idea, or help. This time I needed to find something to replace my Valentine's Day wreath, so I thought something for St.Patrick's Day would be fun. It won't be up very long because Easter is coming in March this year but I can enjoy it for a little bit.

Last night B went to bed by eight and Jared needed to do some work in the den, so I vegged out on the couch watching Harry Potter and crafting. I was able to put this baby together in an hour and a half. I was thrilled to start and finish a project so quickly, watch on of my favorite movies, and just have me time. It was glorious. AND I love how it turned out.

I got the idea from Pinterest which lead me to this gem. The tutorial says to use a wire hanger...to save myself the grief of taking one apart (which I did once), I just purchased a foam wreath from JoAnns.
This is now in my entry way and I'm in love. The cute subway art I found for free and printed at Costco. Thanks to the lovely ladies who were so willing to share!

Being able to just sit and craft was so relaxing. I think I will need to take time for it more often!

Random Updates

Life just keeps going as we know it. I wouldn't say we live exciting lives but we're happy. February came and went in a blink of an eye. We did celebrate Valentine's Day. We were also able to make it back to the park a few times...it's tricky here in Seattle with the rain. We've discovered B's favorite activity at the park is the tower of rope on a merry-go-round.

B still loves story time in his book corner....

We have had some crazy bed-head around here. The minute I got him out of his crib I thought of Syndrome from The Incredibles...Am I the only one to see the resemblance (of the hair)?

A couple of weeks ago B and I both came down with a really nasty week-long cold. I learned to prop him up on the floor with a pillow for nap time so he could breathe.

And we've been practicing with real sippy cups (not the ones with the straw that he's been using) and utensils:

He's also learned to climb in the last few days. (Ask me how excited I am about this.)

But with all the crazies of a one year old, he's still SO cute-

I think we'll keep him.
