B.O.O.T. Camp~ Buliding Our Own Testimonies

This was such a fun Activity Day Camp!!! I was the lucky one in charge of our Tri-Ward Camp with 80 girls ages 8-11!!! (It went from 10 am-3pm...we provided the snack but the girls brought their own sack lunch.) Our ward was in charge of pulling it off so I can't take all the credit...in fact Dana made this really cool jeep & Christy was my side kick the whole time...actually I'd have to say we were Co-Leaders because I completely recruited her to help me with ALL the planning & organizing. We spent many late nights bouncing ideas off each other & getting ready for the big event. Good thing we live next door to each other because we spent many late nights planning! I think we had more fun than the girls! Itt was great to work with such amazing ladies in all three wards & to see all the creativity & work they were willing to put in to make this camp a huge testimony builder! It was pretty much Girls Camp except we didn't spend the night! Image We tried to make our daily themes go along with the 4 Purposes of Activity Days. Are you Army Strong (Keeping Baptismal Covenants), Being Battle Ready (Preparing for Future Roles), Support Vehicles-Parents, Leaders, Good Friends ( Strenghtening Relationships), Wearing the Armor of God (Living the Gospel) and then Friday was our final kick off as soldiers....BE ALL THAT YOU CAN BE!!! Image The morning activities (crafts) we divided the girls into 4 groups--by ages (8, 9, 10 & 11) so they could get to know all the girls their age in the community (& so we didn't have an 8 year old comparing her craft to the experienced 11 year olds!) Then during the afternoon activities (team building/obstacle course) we mixed them up randomly so they could experience being with older & younger girls & bond that way...each of these groups had different colored bandanas! Image Every girl had a Dog Tag & had to Report For Duty every morning for our opening exercises. We taught them a cute stomp that Michelle Campbell choreographed. And throughout the day we would get their attention by doing it or blowing our drill sargent whistles! Every day we did a craft in the morning (magnet boards, friendship kits, service for the troops, skits, wood blocks w/ a monogram vinyl letter, and scrapbooks of the week) and in the afternoon we did an activity (obstacle course which of course included lots of water activities, a water balloon & candy launch, human battleship, team building games, swim day at the YMCA & a slideshow.) During lunch time they had mail call where they received letters from the Stake Pres, Stake Primary Pres, Heavenly Father, and then one from their parents!!!) We closed each day with a devotional! This was a week full of fun and a great time for all the girls to bond with girls from other wards that they will know in the community & in middle school & high school! I hope it taught them to love themselves for who they are and to not get caught up in the worldly apperances. It is scary to think these girls minds are filled with pictures in the media that tell them they need tolook a certain way. I hope they went away knowing that they are special & that they are beautiful daughters of God! We had so much fun!!! It was a TON of work but we LOVED every minute of it! ImageImage
Image This is the Mail Room. Girls each had their own cubby to keep their stuff in and a great place for their Secret Squad Buddy to leave them notes, treats, etc! Very cool & it kept all their junk from being all over the room.

Berry Picking

Oregon has the best berries ever! And they grow like weeds everywhere...so they walked around the corner to some empty house lots and walla...they had there own berry patch. (Don't you love Kiali's berry pickin' gloves...they are actually socks!) Grandma & Grandpa had a great time with the little ones while Makena was at Activity Day camp & Tanner was at scout camp ALL week long! The three little ones had alot of one on one with Gma & Gpa Raymond! It was so nice of them to come out so I could run the A.D. Camp....whew it took alot of stress off of me to just walk out the door each day...then to return in the evening to some yummy dinner my mom had made. I felt sospoiled by it. Thanks mom & dad for keeping my family happy all week!Image

It's GREAT to be 8!!!

8 years has flown by fast! This boy has been a joy to have in our family. He really is sweet. Always a gentleman! At family prayer he always brings me a pillow to kneel on or brings me a pillow & blanket to help me be cozy & warm, offers his seat during scripture time!!! Wow he is a good kid! We are so proud of him & his decsion to be baptised. This is an extra special day for Tanner because not only is it his Birthday but he also gets to get baptised onhis Birthday! How special is that! Both sets of his grandparents made the big trip to be here for this special day. Gma & Gpa Raymond came from Hawaii! And Gma & Gpa Wilkinson came from Utah! It is GREAT to be EIGHT! ImageImageHe got scriptures with a carrying case, church pants, shirt, tie, belt & socks & new shoes...he was looking pretty spiffy! (Oh ya...and a bike which might not fit him until next year!) ImageImageThese sweet girls (Tanner's sisters & cousins) sang a sweet baptism song "When I am baptised"ImageMy Good Looking Men

White Water Rafting....Wahooooooo!

(The girl in front of me could not keep her bum in the raft! She actually fell out going down one of the rapids...pretty scary...especially if you get your leg stuck under a rock!)

Last clue in the puzzle said "Something we did on our Honeymoon...other than the obvious!" After ruling out other options I quickly realized we were going WHITE WATER RAFTING! It was such a BLAST! It was an all day trip. They stopped to let us dive off the side of the cliffs 2 times. The scariest one was where a huge log had fallen over the gorge...it looked really high as we rafted under it...but it was scarier than heck when you got to the top!!! I wish I had a picture of it! It was so stinking HIGH...way higher then a HIGH dive. They also stop at lunch time & serve steak & chicken BBQ! I was way impressed! And our our guide was so awesome...he told stories & jokes that kept us entertained! I highly recommend this rafting trip & can't wait to doit again! What a BLAST! And such a surprise by such a creative husband. Thanks babe!
