People whose jobs are to enforce the law band together to not enforce the law Unless it's against cops. They want to throw law enforcement officers into jail!

ImageWe reported on Wednesday how the Democrats in the Philadelphia city government apparently believe that illegal immigrants are above the law. Philadelphia’s George Soros-sponsored, criminal-loving and police-hating District Attorney Larry Krasner, who even got one of his office’s lawyers disbarred from the federal court system for deliberately lying in trying to get a convicted murderer off death row even though he’d never actually be executed.

Now the distinguished Mr Krasner wants to keep criminals from being arrested:

DA Larry Krasner forms coalition of progressive prosecutors committed to charging federal agents who commit crimes

Krasner was joined by eight other prosecutors from U.S. cities — including Minneapolis DA Mary Moriarty — to announce the initiative.

by Ellie Rushing and Anna Orso | Wednesday, January 28, 2026 | 10:00 AM EST | Updated: 4:07 PM EST

District Attorney Larry Krasner on Wednesday announced the formation of a new coalition of progressive prosecutors committed to charging federal agents who violate state laws.

Krasner joined eight other prosecutors from U.S. cities to create the Project for the Fight Against Federal Overreach, a legal fund that local prosecutors can tap if they pursue charges against federal agents.

The abbreviation for the group, FAFO, is a nod to what has become one of Krasner’s frequent slogans: “F— around and find out.”

The move places Krasner at the center of a growing national clash between Democrats and the Trump administration over federal immigration enforcement and whether local law enforcement can — or should — charge federal agents for actions they take while carrying out official duties.

Note that last sentence, which reporters Ellie Rushing and Anna Orso couldn’t ignore: Mr Krasner wants to find ways to charge federal officers for “carrying out their official duties”!

What are their official duties? The apprehension of people in the United States illegally. Mr Krasner does not want law enforcement to actually enforce the law. Then again, he never has.

The tactic is simple: Mr Krasner and his fellow travelers want to try to intimidate Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, agents from carrying out their duties. With the public resistance of the left, there has been considerable chaos as protester Eenee Good, who tried to run down an ICE agent with her vehicle, and Alex Pretti, an out-of-control rager looking for a fight and who attacked ICE agents were killed as they tried to interfere with legitimate arrests.

Mr Krasner and the rest don’t like that ICE has had to be aggressive in some apprehensions? The solution is simple: have the local police assist in keeping protesters back, and supporting the arrests. Have state and local authorities honor ICE detainers, so those illegals already arrested for another crime can be handed off to immigration rather than having ICE having to track them down and arrest them at their homes or on the streets.

But what about actual violent crime in the City of Brotherly Love?

Woman charged with pepper-spraying conservative influencer on SEPTA bus

A video allegedly showing the Jan. 19 altercation went viral on right-wing social media accounts. The case will be led by the state attorney general’s mass transit prosecutor.

By Michael Tanenbaum, PhillyVoice Staff | Thursday, January 29, 2026

A woman who was filmed pepper-spraying a right-wing influencer during an argument on a SEPTA bus earlier this month now faces charges after the clip went viral and garnered national attention from conservative groups on social media.

Paulina Reyes, 22, was charged Thursday with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and possession of an instrument of crime, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General said. The case will be prosecuted by the attorney general’s mass transit prosecutor, a role that was created in 2023 to oversee some crimes that occur on SEPTA property.

On Jan. 19, Reyes was riding a SEPTA bus when she got into a heated argument with Frank Scales, the conservative influencer who runs the website Surge Philly and frequently posts clips of himself interviewing people at protests in the city. Scales has been an especially outspoken critic of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, a Democrat now in his third term who’s been a steadfast opponent of the Trump administration.

My good Twitter friend, Philly Crime Update, said that the state had to charge the lovely Miss Reyes because Mr Krasner would not. The charges will be prosecuted by the special prosecutor position, created in 2023 to pursue crimes committed on SEPTA, a position Mr Krasner filed suit to challenge the law that created it, claiming that it was it was unconstitutional and stripped his office of authority, even though the prosecutor only rarely exercised his authority to protect decent people on SEPTA.

Translation: if the District Attorney had his way, Miss Reyes would not face any charges at all, because the special prosecutor’s office wouldn’t exist, despite the fact she was angered by the fact that Mr Scales did exactly the things Mr Krasner said ought to be protected for the demonstrators in Minneapolis!

Philly Dems say “Illegal immigrants are above the law!”

It is to the surprise of absolutely no one that Philadelphia’s George Soros-sponsored, criminal-loving and police-hating District Attorney Larry Krasner wants to “hunt down” Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, agents for daring to do something really radical like enforcing the law.

Wackjob Philly DA Vows To “Hunt Down” ICE Agents

By William Teach | Wednesday, January 28, 2026 | 7:00 AM EST

He’s really skirting the line of being a criminal threat to federal law enforcement. Maybe he should worry more about Philly’s crime rate, which is a 1 (100 is best), with violent and property crime rates over 3 times the Pennsylvania average and well over double the US average

Soros-backed Philadelphia DA vows to ‘hunt’ down ICE agents: ‘We will find you’

ImagePhiladelphia’s top prosecutor, a George Soros-backed district attorney, is facing scrutiny and backlash after vowing to “hunt” down federal immigration agents as city leaders move to curb ICE operations.

Speaking during a morning event outside City Hall tied to newly unveiled “ICE OUT” legislation, District Attorney Larry Krasner sharply criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

“This is a small bunch of wannabe Nazis. That’s what they are,” Krasner said. “In a country of 350 million, we outnumber them. If we have to hunt you down the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities. We will find you. We will achieve justice.”

I heard about this yesterday, but didn’t write about it. I expected our nation’s third-oldest, continuously-published daily newspaper, The Philadelphia Inquirer, to have more on this than they did, but this was all I could find in a search Wednesday morning:

On the other end is District Attorney Larry Krasner, Philadelphia’s most prominent progressive, who has on several occasions threatened to file criminal charges against ICE agents who commit crimes in the city.

“There will be accountability now. There will be accountability in the future. There will be accountability after [Trump] is out of office,” Krasner said Tuesday. “If we have to hunt you down the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities.”

The article concerns the responses of Democratic officials to enforcement of our immigration laws, and is about more than Mr Krasner.

As we have previously noted, the distinguished Mr Krasner has also threatened to file state charges against the January 6th Capitol Kerfufflers after they were pardoned by President Trump, even though most of them had already served their federal sentences, but hasn’t actually done anything, perhaps because there was nothing which he could find which occurred in his jurisdiction, which is limited to the City of Brotherly Love.

The Inquirer reported, on Inauguration Day, that there were about 47,000 illegal aliens living in the city, but the currently cited article uses a different source to guesstimate an “unauthorized population” of 76,000. With a July 1, 2024 estimated population of 1,573,916, that would put Philly’s illegals at 4.83% of the total. And the Democrats want more than to tone down the enforcement of immigration laws: they want to protect the illegals from everything:

Philadelphia officials said the best way they can prepare is by limiting the city’s cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

ImageCity Councilmember Kendra Brooks, of the progressive Working Families Party, and Councilmember Rue Landau, a Democrat, were joined by dozens of activists and other elected officials during a news conference Tuesday to unveil a package of legislation aimed at codifying into law the city’s existing “sanctuary city” practices.

Those policies, which are currently executive orders, bar city officials from holding undocumented immigrants in custody at ICE’s request without a judicial warrant.

So, the Democrats want to protect the illegals who are caught breaking other laws as well.

Landau and Brooks’ legislative package, expected to be introduced in Council on Thursday, goes further, preventing ICE agents from wearing masks, using city-owned property for staging raids, or accessing city databases.

Erika Guadalupe Núñez, executive director of immigrant advocacy organization Juntos, said the legislation “goes beyond just ‘We don’t collaborate.’”

Juntos gets regular calls about ICE staging operations at public locations in and around Philadelphia, and people have been worried, despite official assurances, whether personal information held by the city will be secure from government prying.

ImageWhat happened to “no one is above the law”? The Democrats proclaimed it, loudly and clearly, when they were trying to throw then-former President Trump in jail, and we’re hearing it — sort of — from Mr Krasner, as he wants to ‘hunt down’ ICE agents, for as many years as it takes, even if it takes ‘decades,’ because they are charged with enforcing our immigration laws.

When former Philadelphia Police Officer Eric Ruch, Jr, was tried, convicted, and sentenced for killing an unarmed suspect following a police chase, Mr Krasner filed an appeal to reconsider the 11½-to-23 month sentence as too lenient. Instead Mr Ruch was released after nine months, the same amount of time former state Attorney General Kathleen Kane spent locked up for her 10-to-23 month sentenced for perjury. If that angered Mr Krasner, so much the better.

In the meantime, we have documented how the city’s scumbag of a prosecutor has the criminals’ backs, while he hates the cops.

But is that really a surprise? The Democrats in city government are all supporting those who have broken our immigration laws, not only entering illegally or overstaying a visa, but who must commit felonies, must break our employment laws every day to live in the United States. But to the Democrats, illegals really are above the law.

Sometimes deportation is not enough Sometimes you have to lock them up for years, and then kick their sorry asses out!

Thanks to lax border enforcement under Democratic administrations, deportation of illegal aliens simply means that they have to put forth a little more effort to sneak back into the United States. From our nation’s second-oldest continuously published daily newspaper:

Twice-deported DUI driver who got off easy after killing 2 California teens gets sent back to slammer

By Nina Joudeh | Monday, January 26, 2026 | 5:19 PM EST

ImageA twice-deported Mexican national who was let off easy for killing two California teenagers in a drunken crash — sparking widespread outrage — has been sentenced to prison for being in the country illegally.

Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano walked free last year after serving three-and-a-half years of a 10-year sentence for causing the deaths of Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin on Interstate 405 in Seal Beach in November 2021.

He was released in July and immediately taken back into custody by federal officials, according to reports.

On Friday, US District Judge John Holcomb sentenced Ortega-Anguiano to three years and 10 months in federal prison for illegal re-entry into the US. . . . .

Ortega-Anguiano had already been sent back to Mexico twice and returned when, intoxicated and without a valid driver’s license, he collided with the 2000 Honda driven by Varfolomeev and Osokin just before midnight in Orange County on November 13, 2021.

So, Mr Ortega-Anguiano had sneaked in once, gotten caught and deported, then sneaked in again, got caught and deported, and now sneaked in a third time, and only got caught again because he killed two people while driving drunk. Clearly simply being deported had no deterrent impact on him.

There is something that could prove more of a deterrent, from The Mercury News:

In 2022, while Ortega-Anguiano was in state prison for the OC vehicular manslaughter conviction, federal prosecutors during the Biden administration had obtained an indictment charging Ortega-Anguiano with illegally being in the United States after being previously deported.

That indictment remained in effect as he was released from state prison, allowed federal law enforcement to take him into custody and held a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

Mr Ortega-Anguiano had already received a sweetheart deal, pleading guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence instead of second-degree murder. Now he’s got 3½ years in federal prison, where he could have been locked up for two decades. He’ll be deported after his 3½ years, after President Trump has completed his final term, and, if a Democrat is in the White House, he’ll try to sneak back in again.

Although he was born in Mexico and spent the first several years of his life there, Ortega-Anguiano said he was raised in the United States and is “American at heart.”

I would like to say that driving while drunk means that he’s not really an “American at heart,” but we have had too many real Americans do the same thing. But however he feels about it in his heart, we don’t want or need his sorry ass in our country.

We want and need good immigrants, immigrants who will work hard and be a credit to their families and their communities. Mr Ortega-Anguiano certainly doesn’t fit that description.

The internet has not made the left smarter; it has really made them stupid

ImageRemember how people used to say that a lack of information was responsible for people doing or saying some not bright things? Remember how our good friends on the left have been claiming that it was only stupid and ignorant people who voted for Donald Trump? Paula on Bluesky told me that President Trump “was elected by uneducated, ignorant people,” and that “His core voters are not educable. They are the worst among us who feel unrestrained in their racism and sexism and other ugly beliefs. The ones who were just taken in by his lies have already turned against him.”

And so we come to Lexie Lawler:

Boca Raton nurse fired after viral video wishing birth complications on Trump press secretary

By Joel Lopez | Friday, January 23, 2026 | 7:17 PM EST

A nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital has been fired after posting a viral social media video wishing health complications on President Donald Trump’s press secretary during childbirth.

A woman identified as Lexie Lawler, who said she was a labor and delivery nurse in the 14-second video, recorded herself wishing Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt would suffer a fourth-degree tear during childbirth with long-term complications.

Lawler also used a derogatory term to describe Leavitt in the video. Leavitt announced her pregnancy on Instagram in December, saying she’s expecting a baby girl in May. A LinkedIn profile under the same name indicates Lawler worked at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

There’s more at the original.

ImageThe lovely Miss Lawler, who apparently did have access to all of the information she could ever want, given that she has a internet connection which enabled her to post on Tik Tok, went on a rant which Chaya Raichik, who started and operates the Twitter — I refuse to call it 𝕏 — site Libs of TikTok found, and tweeted it out, and made it viral.

Miss Lawler was fired by her now-former employer, saying “While we respect the right to personal opinions, there is no place in healthcare for language or behavior that calls into question a caregiver’s ability to provide compassionate, unbiased care.”

Then we saw the story of how security guards and emergency room personnel at NYU Langone Health in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn delayed and tried to deny treatment for a minor injury to a New York Police Department detective following a scuffle with a suspect because they mistook them for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, agents. Emergency room personnel are doctors and nurses, who are all college educated, yet some of them were stupid enough to break the long-standing medical ethic of not denying emergency treatment.

The famously childless Amanda Marcotte, who declared that if her birth control ever failed — something unlikely now, since she is 48 years old — she’d get an abortion, is all in on hating pregnancy even for other women:

Everyone’s heard of someone having a baby in a doomed bid to save a marriage. But to save a fascist ideological project is a new one. OK, OK — no one can prove that Second Lady Usha Vance, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and Katie Miller, the wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, all got pregnant as a concurrent MAGA propaganda project. No more, anyway, than we can say that it’s anything but a wild coincidence that nearly all the women vying for Donald Trump‘s favor seem to have undergone the same intensive cosmetic surgery regimen to achieve “Mar-a-Lago face.” But it sure is lucky timing that all these women got pregnant, right when the MAGA coalition is starting to feel forlorn, torn asunder by infighting and the growing sense that the president’s declining health does not bode well for their future.

Jokes aside, all these pregnancies would likely be unremarkable except for the fact that the MAGA movement is obsessed with making babies. Vice President JD Vance famously spent years denouncing childless women as “miserable,” “sociopaths” and claiming they “must be stopped” from having a role in public life. Billionaire Elon Musk frequently rails about the supposed dangers to humanity from slightly lower birth rates. Kevin Roberts, the architect of Project 2025 who heads the Heritage Foundation, even ranted in his book about the evils of dog parks on the unpersuasive grounds that well-to-do urban women were substituting pet ownership for their duty to have more children. The late Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, frequently scolded women to give up their careers to have “more kids than they can afford.” There’s even Natal Con, an annual right-wing conference attended mostly by men, who get together and hype the idea that American wombs are being under-utilized by the women who still have control over them.

Miss Marcotte referred to it as “the GOP’s mini-baby boom,” but perhaps it’s not so mini after all:

(T)hese authors looked at young adults ages 25 to 35 who self-identify as liberal or conservative. They found that young liberal women today are much less likely to have children than young conservative women, with a gap of more than 30 percentage points.

USA Today columnist Ingrid Jacques reported:

Families have also been moving to red states that better reflect their values. In states where Trump won the popular vote, the aggregate child population increased by 7.3% since 2000. The opposite was true in states where Harris won the popular vote – the child population decreased by 7.1%.

No wonder Miss Marcotte is slamming pregnancies among Trump Administration families! She hates everything about President Trump, and his supporters reproducing? Heaven forfend! She concluded:

If readers are skeptical that the Millers will convince anyone that Mr. Miller is besting Ocasio-Cortez in the attractiveness category — well, let’s just say equally unpersuasive is the entire effort to sell the MAGA mini-baby boom as a meaningful shift in the broader American culture toward having bigger families. Despite all the right-wing media hype around these pregnancies, the response of the general public has cut against their hopes that this would lead to a Great Fertility Awakening among young women, who suddenly realize they need to quit their jobs to spend the next 20 years of their life staying constantly pregnant. Usha Vance’s pregnancy was mostly met with jokes about how she’s trying to steal her husband back from Erika Kirk. The Millers were greeted with speculation that the real father of the their child is Elon Musk. Leavitt’s announcement inspired cracks about how pregnant women aren’t supposed to use fillers, along with jokes about the 32-year age gap that exists between her and her 60-year-old husband: “Closer in age to the baby than her husband btw,” one Instagram user noted.

Apparently the writer hasn’t heard about the real surge in pregnancies among conservative women, or, perhaps it’s simply a dearth of them among her ideological fellow travelers. With plenty of access to that internet thingy Al Gore invented, she still does not seem to have heard about it. Perhaps, just perhaps, it isn’t the “uneducated” and “ignorant” who are the conservatives, but our oh-so-haughty friends on the left.

How wealthy blue staters fight #ClimateChange

We have had four separate articles in our series “How wealthy New Englanders fight #ClimateChange,” noting how our blue state brethren, the ones who gave so many of their votes to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Emhoff in the 2020 election. We take the assumption that those who voted for the Democrats agreed at least in part with the Democrats’ plans on fighting global warming climate change, and looked at how New Englanders with money, at least enough money to afford a major remodeling job featured on the long running PBS series This Old House.

In season 46, the program selected a project house in Ridgewood, New Jersey, not New England, but still among the bluest of blue states. In the 2020 election, Garden State voters gave 2,608,400 votes, 57.33%, to former Vice President Biden and Senator Emhoff, and 1,883,313 votes, only 41.40%, to President Donald trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Thats a landslide margin. Four years later, the election was closer in New Jersey, but Vice President Emhoff and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, received 2,220,713 votes, 51.97%, to 1,968,215, 46.06% for former President Trump and Senator J D Vance. While closer, the outcome in the state was never in doubt.

Bergen County, a sort-of suburb of New York City, was carried by the Democrats, 232,660, 50.68%, to 217,096, 47.29%.

So, how did the wealthy couple from Ridgewood heat their home?

In the basement, Richard Trethewey meets with plumbing and heating expert Kordian Rak, who explains the benefits of the home’s new combination boiler, capable of powering both the radiator heating and water heating systems. Together, they review the new piping system that runs from the basement to the attic and back, including a specialized setup that generates heat beneath the new kitchen floor slab.

It’s a brand new, very efficient boiler, and it’s a natural gas boiler. An original fireplace from the 1920s was retained. The kitchen range is not mentioned, but it is electric, where their older range was gas.

The Garden State does not have any mandate to ban gas heating in new construction, and even if such existed, this was a remodel, not a new build, so a gas heating system would have been grandfathered. But an extensive remodel, in a home in which the old gas-fired boiler had just failed, could have gone with an all-electric heating plan, but did not. If solar panels were to be added to this home, they were never mentioned.

As I write this, it is 17.2º F outside, and we’re in the early stages of the dreaded Snowpocalypse. It started snowing five hours ago, but there’s still only ¾ inch of snow on the ground. Our propane fireplace has occasionally supplemented our heat pump based HVAC system, to keep the house nice and warm. I can see how people in further north than me would want a steadier, more reliable gas heating system, but in very blue state New Jersey?

Well, who knows? Perhaps the homeowners were among the 47.29% of Bergen Countians who cast their votes more sensibly that the majority of residents in the state.

Is this really what he wants? Revolutions so rarely turn out the way people expect

ImageWill Bunch, the far-left columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer, perhaps sees himself as a noble, freedom fighter, a brave partisan fighting the evil forces of fascism. In a skeet on Thursday, he told us that, “The only story w/ value is the revolution, like the MLPS general strike.”

My mind went to the scene in Dr Zhivago, in which Tom Courtenay, playing Pavel “Pasha” Antipov, meets Rod Steiger, playing Viktor Komarovsky, in a restaurant, and Pasha tells Viktor that he is committed to the Revolution. After the Soviet Revolution, Pasha becomes Strelnikov, a murderous Bolshevik Red Guard leader, galivanting around on his private train burning villages in the civil war against the Whites. Then, as the civil war is ending, he has abandoned his role there and was struggling — off camera — to where his estranged wife, Lara Antipova, has been living, pursued by the Bolsheviks who no longer had any use for him.

It’s all very Josef Stalin/Leon Trotsky in a way, and the novel by Boris Pasternak was published in 1957, long after Comrade Stalin had Comrade Trotsky murdered in Mexico City.

I am also reminded of the anti-fascist song Bella Ciao, in a video below the fold: Continue reading

Are you tired of winning yet?

ImageOur good friends on the left have been telling us how much foreigners hate President Donald Trump, how the United States is the laughing stock of the world, yada, yada, yada . . . until we come to a story like this. From the Associated Press:

Mexico’s president says it was ‘sovereign decision’ to send cartel members to US

By Megan Janetsky | Wednesday, January 21, 2026 | 4:47 PM EST

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico sent 37 cartel members to the United States at the request of the U.S. Justice Department, with President Claudia Sheinbaum saying Wednesday that it was a “sovereign decision” by her government.

Sheinbaum responded to criticism from analysts and opponents who said that the transfers on Tuesday were the result of mounting pressure from Washington. U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to take military action on cartels.

Sheinbaum said that although the transfers were made at the request of the U.S. government, the decision was taken by the National Security Council after analyzing what was “convenient for Mexico” and in terms of its “national security.”

“Mexico is put first above all else, even if they ask for whatever they have to ask for. It is a sovereign decision,” she said at her regular morning news briefing.

We do not begrudge President Sheinbaum trying to save face, and it certainly is a benefit to our south of the border neighbor to be rid of the 92 criminals sent to American custody during President Trump’s second term. But who would think that Mexico would have taken this action at all had President Trump not asked for it? And who would have believed we’d have even asked if Kamala Harris Emhoff had won the 2024 election?

Sheinbaum, who has been praised for her level-headed management of relations with Trump, has been forced to walk a fine line between making concessions to the Trump administration and projecting strength both domestically and internationally.

Observers say that the Mexican government has used the transfers as a sort of pressure valve to offset demands by Trump and show authorities are cracking down on criminal groups. Tension has only mounted since the U.S. carried out a military operation in Venezuela to capture then President Nicolás Maduro to face charges in the United States in an extraordinary use of force that set leaders across Latin America on edge.

There was also the blowing out of the water speedboats trying to ship narcotics from Venezuela to the United States. It seems that President Trump is serious about trying to defend us from drug traffickers.

The American left, of course, seem to think that this is a bad thing!

Those sent to the U.S. on Tuesday were alleged members of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel, known by its Spanish acronym CJNG, and the Sinaloa Cartel, which Washington has designated as terrorist organizations, and a number of other groups. It’s the third such transfer of capos over the past year. Mexico’s government said it has sent 92 people in total to the U.S. in total.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Wednesday said that the transfer was a “landmark achievement in the Trump administration’s mission to destroy the cartels.”

This is winning, this is the President of the United States doing everything he possibly can to use American strength to defend the United States against foreign threats. The left don’t like it, the left see us using strength as bullying, because the weak wimps of the left have only known bullying from the perspective of being bullied by stronger people.

So, if our own leftists are foaming at the mouth in hatred of Mr Trump, if the rest of the world hates our President, a whole lot of Americans don’t care as long as he’s getting good things done for our country.

Yet another immigration sob story

We have noted, many times, that the Lexington Herald-Leader is out-of-touch with its potential audience. I say potential audience because what used to be the newspaper for much of central and eastern Kentucky is barely a shadow of its former self, publishing only thrice a week, and a day early so it can be delivered not in the morning, but by the United States Postal Service, at whatever time the mailman gets to your house.

What my best friend used to call the Herald-Liberal has been all-in on the Democrats, but in 2024, Kentuckians gave 64.47% of their votes to Donald Trump, not just a landslide margin, but Mr Trump’s highest percentage total in three campaigns. When Mr Trump ran on deporting illegal immigrants, Kentuckians said, “Yes!”

As a witness, I can say our immigration reform is the ‘worst of the worst’ | Opinion

By Mary Cobb | Monday, January 19, 2026 | 5:30 AM EST

In the fluorescent haze of the ICE office lobby, an agent hands the plane ticket back to me. Outside in the rain, a man peers in through the glass door, watching his son with an ankle monitor do a check-in with officers. A gnome dressed as Santa dangles from the metal detector, and laughter from “The Price is Right” studio audience bounces from the lobby TV. I try not to get distracted by the mix of frivolity and stress around me.

“But, the judge’s written order says to deliver this ticket to you….” I can feel right away that my words don’t matter. Neither, apparently, does the court order.

I am there on a cruel errand: deliver someone’s passport and plane ticket to ICE, so that they can deport him. It is a favor to a friend, because the deportee’s family finds the thought of the ICE office too intimidating, and they wanted someone else to go. I said yes.

The “criminal” to be deported — I’ll call him Cesar — is an average guy in our part of the world. Early 20s, loves his family, grew up in Appalachia attending church and public schools and playing sports, eventually married a young woman he had met in high school. His “crime?” Being brought across the border from Mexico when he was 3 years old. Like the majority of ICE detainees, Cesar has no criminal record. What he does have is a decent job, a loving family, and a baby due in April.

Really? He has no prior criminal record, we are told, but how can he have “a decent job” when it is illegal for non-citizens without a green card to work in the United States? Every employer — not every employer beyond a certain size, but every employer — must complete an Immigration Form I-9 on every employee, which demonstrates his legal ability to work in the US, whether by being a citizen or by having a valid work permit, generally known as a green card. How is it that “Cesar” has that “good job” if he doesn’t have those documents? How is it that “Cesar’s” employer, who is obligated under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 to discharge any employee he discovers is an illegal immigrant, let him stay employed?

Under the Handbook for Employers M-274, Section 11.8, it is specified that:

Unlawful Employment Criminal Penalties
Engaging in a Pattern or Practice of Knowingly Hiring or Continuing to Employ Unauthorized Aliens

If you or your business are convicted of having engaged in a pattern or practice of knowingly hiring unauthorized aliens (or continuing to employ aliens knowing they are or have become unauthorized to work in the United States) after Nov. 6, 1986, you may face fines and/or six months imprisonment.

Engaging in Fraud or False Statements, or Otherwise Misusing Visas, Immigration Permits, and Identity Documents

You may be fined and/or imprisoned for up to five years if you:

  • Make a false statement or attestation to satisfy the employment eligibility verification requirements;
  • Use fraudulent identification or employment authorization documents; or
  • Use documents that were lawfully issued to another person.

Other federal criminal statutes may provide higher penalties in certain fraud cases.

ImageThis is what the author, Mary Cobb, “a ninth-generation Kentuckian, and . . . the Director of Kentucky Refugee Ministries/Lexington,” fails to address. Rather, her OpEd tells us what a good person, what a great guy, “Cesar” is, and how he’s an asset to the community. While I have no doubt that he’s everything she said about him, he’s still here illegally, and was apparently working here illegally as well. The IRCA does not have any particular “great guy” exceptions.

“Cesar’s” wife is expecting their baby in April, we are told. Well, good for them, but if she is due in April of 2026, that means she became pregnant around August of 2025, seven months after Donald Trump became President again, and months after he showed that his intention to deport all of the illegals, “anchor babies” notwithstanding. Surely “Cesar” and his wife knew about that, but they decided to reproduce anyway.

“No one is above the law” our good friends on the left, including then-President Joe Biden, several state governors, senators and congressmen, constantly told us, when they were trying to throw Donald Trump in jail. Well, “Cesar” is not above the law either, he was here illegally, and he had to go.

I check Bluesky so you don’t have to! The left love cosplaying revolutionaries!

ImageOf course federal law enforcement is aggressive, and of course [insert slang term for the anus here] things happen; every arrest is an [insert slang term for the anus here] action, the taking of a suspected malefactor against his will, and if the suspect has a family, of course they’re going to be upset. Oddly enough, the American left weren’t too terribly upset when then-former President Trump was arrested as both state and federal persecutors prosecutors tried to throw him in jail, even though he had a son who was a minor at the time.

The very lovely Rachel Maddow linked this story in her skeet on Bluesky:

N.J. Girl, 6, Found Alone by Neighbors Crying ‘Where’s Papi?’ After Dad Was Detained by ICE While Picking Up Food, Mom Claims

ImageThe mother of a 6-year-old girl in New Jersey says her daughter was found walking alone outside their apartment crying and asking for her father over the weekend after he was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while picking up food for himself and the child.

Gabby Rosa told NJ.com that her partner, Adonay Mancia Rodríguez, had been watching their daughter, Annabella, in their apartment in Morristown while she was at work at a nearby Walmart on Sunday, Jan. 11. According to Rosa, Rodríguez had left their apartment to pick up food from a nearby restaurant when he was detained by ICE agents.

Rosa recalled receiving phone calls from a concerned neighbor, whom she said had seen the girl wandering the streets looking for her father.

“She told me she’d seen my daughter, walking by herself on the street, crying, crying out for her dad, asking, ‘Where’s Papi? Where’s Papi?’ ” Rosa told the outlet.

She said she rushed home to care for Annabella and later that day, saw video on social media of Rodríguez and others being detained as part of an ICE raid.

I was careful to screen capture the blurb from the original to note that Mr Rodríguez had left his 6-year-old daughter alone in their home, not that she was out with him when he was picked up.

There’s more at the original, and you can follow the link if you are interested. What I found more interesting were the cosplaying revolutionaries on Bluesky. Captain West skeeted:

They don’t fucking care! These ICE agents are just animals on the prowl for victims. At what point do State and Local law enforcement start protecting the people they supposedly serve?

The left were overjoyed when the Supreme Court let stand the decision in Lozano v City of Hazleton, which held that the federal government held sole authority over immigration law. In that case, Hazleton PA was trying to restrict housing and employment of illegal immigrants in the city. The American Civil Liberties Union sued and won. Since the Bush Administration was not taking serious enforcement immigration law enforcement, the left were happy, and cities and states could do nothing. Now the Feds are enforcing immigration law, and it’s coming back to bite states helping the #illegals.

Harbinger of biscuits skeeted:

Nobody will save us. Americans with guns need to step up.

Of course, Americans with guns were much of President Trump’s base. Rural residents and hunters are the ones with the most guns, the ones who actually use their guns, know what they are doing with guns better than the spray-and-pray gangbangers of Philadelphia, and they are the ones who gave huge percentages of their votes to Mr Trump.

The left want to fight, fight, fight, but they’re cosplaying revolutionaries. As G Gordon Liddy used to say, they wouldn’t know out of which end the bullet comes if they had to fight!
