Owen Scott Forsyth, born July 23, 2011 at 2:13pm, weighing 8 lbs 10 oz, and 20 inches long
He made his arrival 8 days past his EDD, and we are so happy he is finally here.
I had several false alarms with his little man, so when I woke up Saturday morning with contractions, I was expecting them to just go away. They were pretty irregular, but quite strong. After a couple hours we decided we better head down to the Tri Cities, because I did not want to labor in the car with back to back contractions like last time. That was NOT fun! So we packed up the boys, dropped them off with some good friends, and headed off. Of course, the second we get on the road, the contractions slowed way down. So, I am getting more convinced this is just another round of false labor. We got into town around 11am, and decided to make a quick little trip to MyFroYo, (because who doesn’t love frozen yogurt?) and then head down to Howard Amon Park and go walking. So we walked nice and slowly along the river while the contractions picked back up. They still seemed pretty irregular but they were defiantly some good contractions. We walked for about an hour to hour and half, and then headed over to my moms for a bit. Of course the second we get into the car, the contractions slow down again. We were only at my mom’s house for maybe about 20 minutes, when I got a really good contraction that came with a very slight urge to push. I looked at Scott, and said, “call the hospital, we are going in!” He questioned me at first, thinking there was no way it was time, and honestly, I would have never have thought it was time if I hadn’t gotten that slight urge. I was still able to walk, I was calm, still joking around and my pain levels were nowhere near last time.
So we get the Birth Center, and are sent off to a room to change into a gown and get checked. The whole time I am praying in my head “please be over 5cm, please be over 5 cm”. She checks me and says I’m complete!
Scott and I were both extremely surprised by this. How on earth could I be 10 cm dilated!! The only thing that was keeping this baby in me was the fact that my water still hadn’t broken.
So they send us off into a room, and call the Dr.
My OB was out of town that weekend, which sucked, because he is awesome. So I got the Dr who I was seeing while pregnant with Andrew, who is not, what so ever comfortable with me attempting a VBA2C. Good thing I showed up ready to go!:)
He came in, and broke my water, and brought me a VBAC consent form, and jokingly (yet not so jokingly) said I could still sign on the line for a c-section…ha!
After he broke my water, the contractions slowed down. He leaves the room, and while he’s gone the nurses have me stand up to see if that will get things going. I am up for about two minutes, when my body starts pushing for me, and the next thing I know, I can feel his head coming. I look at the nurses, and tell them I am pretty sure he’s coming out! Sure enough his whole head is out. She grabs his head so he doesn’t fall, and has me somehow roll back onto the bed the deliver the rest of him. Because he came so quick, she pressed the emergency button to get the Dr into room. I am pretty sure it probably gave him a heart attack thinking something may have possibly gone wrong! He came in the room just in time to pretty much do nothing lol! The amazing nurses did all the hard work and I am grateful for it. With my past experience with him, I don’t have a lot of trust in him, although he is a very nice guy, just not a good Dr for me.
I am truly so grateful for the way everything turned out that day. It was amazing! Heavenly Father was defiantly watching over us, and added another wonderful blessing into our lives!
Today Owen is now 9 days old and is such a sweet baby. He’s an awesome sleeper and eater, and is just so stinkin cute!! Being a mother of 4 isn’t really much different than 3. I was so scared of how things were going to be with him and Andrew being so close, but so far, things have been great. Andrew loves his little brother. I just have to keep on eye on him because he doesn’t quite understand what the word “gentle” means.
We have had so many wonderful families here in Connell that have helped us out, brought us dinners, and watched the older boys so I could get some rest! It has been awesome and I am so grateful for all of them.
