I’m Not Dead…

.just busy.

I wanted to chime in on the Supreme Court madness last week but didn’t have the time and now it’s a little late to really add anything worthwhile to the debate other than to say “what they said”. In that, man, SCOTUS is on some messed up crack.

Well, and I’ll share this:

Supreme Court Decision Sparks Proposal To Seize Souter’s Home

Following a Supreme Court ruling last week that gave local governments power to seize private property, someone has suggested taking over Justice David Souter’s New Hampshire farmhouse and turning it into a hotel.

“The justification for such an eminent domain action is that our hotel will better serve the public interest as it will bring in economic development and higher tax revenue to Weare,” Logan Darrow Clements of California wrote in a letter faxed to town officials in Weare on Tuesday.

Souter, a longtime Weare resident, joined in the 5-4 court decision allowing governments to seize private property from one owner and turn it over to another if doing so would benefit a community.

Clements is the chief executive officer of Los Angeles-based Freestar Media that fights “abusive” government through a Web site and cable show. He plans to move to New Hampshire soon as part of the Free State Project, a group that supports limiting government powers, the Concord Monitor reported.

Mwa ha ha ha.

What the article fails to point out is that the Free State Project is a Libertarian brainchild that seeks to flood New Hampshire with so many Libertarians that the state will descend into anarchy they will finally have some clout somewhere and be able to take over. Not a horrible idea, really, and if they can pull it off they might finally be loud enough for folks to take notice.

Alright, off to finish packing for a weekend getaway to Cape Cod that should take my mind off of a lot of stuff that’s been going on here. Hopefully I’ll come back all refreshed and get back on this blogging horse.

Hello? Can everyone hear me? Anyone?

Check, check. Check, one two.

Is this thing on?

Not the microphone—I mean my Electronic Larynx Implant device. Is it working? Hit the “Reboot” button, and see if that ook ook-ook ook.

Ook? Ook? Ook-ook.

Ook!

Ook-ook-oo—why does it seem like it always takes an eternity for the eli to reboot? I mean, isn’t this something we should have ironed out a long time ago?

Oh. O.K. We’re back online now? Good. You can all hear me out there? Great.

Fantastic bit of writing from this week’s NEW YORKER. A must read.
