Arrival

Our precious baby arrived.....a tid bit early.
It all started on the evening of  December 26th at 6:15pm.  My family and I had just gotten home from Zoo Lights and picking up a little dessert at Chik-fil-a.  We had just walked in the door and I sat down my delicious vanilla milk shake when I felt it, my water was breaking.  Kelby just happened to be right behind me and I turned and said, "I think my water is breaking!" Kelby calmly said, "Should we go to the hospital?"  I said " Let me call the on-call nurse and see what she says."  I knew I more than likely would be going to the hospital at some point that night so I wasn't trying to rush things.  Kelby decided it was best to get a bag out for me to pack while I was on the phone.  After I got off the phone and decided we should take our time I hopped in the shower.  Once I was out I packed my bag, got in comfy clothes and then played some Apples to Apples with my niece and nephew.  After a little while of the game I went to throw some laundry in the dryer and then......there was water break #2.  This time I told Kelby we better head to the hospital. We told my family what was going on that once we were checked by a nurse that we would get in touch.

Kelby and I hopped in the car and headed to Germantown Methodist around 7:15.  We arrived around 7:30 and sat down to get admitted in.  I think we waited for maybe 10-15 minutes and then met our nurse Kim and headed to our delivery room #201. Our nurse checked to see if was actually my water breaking and sure enough it was.  After the confirmation and that we were 4cm dilated we informed my family and then informed all of Kelby's family.  I felt pretty good for most of the time and did not feel any contractions until I was dilated at 6cm (on PIT at this time).  At this point we decided to go ahead and get an epidural and little did we know was going to spiral downwards.

I will try and give the short story, so here we go......I received my epidural and it was really working great on one side.  The other side was tingling but not even close to numb.  So I tell my nurse she calls in the nurse anthesist and she gives me another shot of meds in the IV.  Well it worked just on the wrong side and wrong area.  My right arm was completely numb from elbow to fingers, it was literally a limp noodle I couldn't grasp anything.  I wasn't necessarily scared but was as little concerned.  I started feeling queasy (did this with Lincoln, so again not concerned) but didn't realize as Kelby would say looked like I was on my death bed.  Trying to keep spirits up I just kept saying, "I am okay," my nurse Kim knew I wasn't and I don't think I fooled my mom or Kelby either.  Kim and the anthesist rolled me over and checked me, I was at 8 1/2cm.  Then a specialist came in said I had Horner's Syndrome and that they needed to pull the epidural and start a new one.  Well.....that was out of the question so they pulled it out.  Luckily right after I felt pressure they checked me and I was 10cm and....

at 2:40 am this precious baby came into the world

Our little guy decided to take a little trip to the NICU.
He was only there 6 days but that seemed like an eternity.
I don't know how other parents can do a month or more.
It literally is an emotional and physical roller coaster.

Big Brother finally gets to hold baby brother.
He was dying! He asked everyday when his brother would come home.
Talk about tear jerker!!

Finally Home Sweet Home.

Edison at first look just like Lincoln but with sandy blonde hair.  Now, he reminds me of my sisters newborn pictures.  He has blue eyes and weighs over 7lbs 8.5oz (4wks).  He is surprising the doctor by how well he is doing considering how early he was.  I have a feeling he will continually surprise us throughout his lifetime.
He is now 6 weeks and it makes me sad already to think in just 6 more I am headed back to the office.

Baby Talk

As I was reading a friend's blog I realized I haven't really blogged about the little bean.  Our little bean is doing quite well as am I.

Here baby's stats so far:

7 weeks  - it's a baby! hearate 174 very lively.
15 weeks - heart rate 155
19 weeks - heart rate 156
21 weeks - heart rate 145
26 weeks - heart rate 150's, passed glucose, head down
28 weeks - heart rate 150"s, head down
30 weeks - hear rate 140's, head down

I have been able to feel our little bean move and groove since about 18 weeks.  At 19 weeks we had the Big ultrasound.  We aren't finding out again with this little one.   I know, I know annoying but fun!  Little Bean looked great he/she had a chubby little tummy and from the profile looks like Lincoln.  I think I look at these pictures every other day.  I am trying to figure out if it is a he or she but alas I have come to no conclusion. I have tried to be a lot healthier with this little one in ways of eating and excercise (which has fallen off the radar).  Lincoln loves to pat my belly and he can't seem to make up his mind whether boy or girl either.  I am starting to see the baby actually punch/kick my stomach. This is mainly in the mornings and evenings though baby is getting more active in the afternoons. This is one of my favorite parts of being preggo.  Unlike Lincoln this baby sits on my bladder and I am not a fan.  I feel like I have to run to the restroom every hour and I already feel like I waddle.  Baby is constantly on the right side of my belly in a little ball. Eating well.....I eat all the time always have preggo or not.  Cravings at first were salads, fruit etc. and still are but I am craving sweets a lot.  I love using Lincoln as an excuse to go get ice cream, he LOVES ice cream.  It usually becomes our after school snack at least once a week.

Lately  at my appointments the baby is always head down.  I have a lot of heartburn with this one too!  Anything that has tomato in it I know to make sure to take my tums before bed time.  Spicy food gets me too, so I try to not eat as much but it's SO Hard.

The nursery is slowly coming along.  Probably won't be completed until end of January.  So more to post on that because it is also our guest bedroom.  I hoping before Christmas so....cross your fingers.

one year...really just 6 months

Man, I have never been more anxious to write this post.  Things seem to be moving along at our house. I love it when we get to do things to our house.  It drives me bananas that I decorate/design people's living spaces and I can't do my own for various reasons.  However, with a lot of prayer my business is picking up which means more gets done on our house.

Kelby has really been working hard.  He has painted doors, fireplaces and has helped prep walls and he really hates to paint.  He always tells me that I am way better at painting.  So besides all the painting of items we are finally getting a mirror for our almost complete guest bathroom, yay! I am hoping to get it by the end of the week. Then the vanity is going to get a little faux paint job and then it will be complete.  Next, we ordered pendants for our den.  I wish I could get a picture but the company is not online. They are very simple clear glass pendants with round bulbs.

I have been working on completeing Lincoln's bedding.  I was super excited and sad that I found at Broomcorn's closing sale more fabric that matched his sham. With the extra fabric I found at Broomcorn I made Lincoln's bedskirt which was completed tonight.  I am thinking new storage for his toys that just hang out, new light fixture and possibly window treatments.  One day his bedroom will be complete.

And lastly Kelby ripped down all the paneling in our guest bedroom.  Our house is pretty noisy and paneling sure does not help, especially when guests want privacy. Of course rugs would help solve the problem as well but we decided sheet rock and some insulation would be great. The paneling is everywhere den, hallways, kitchen and guest bedroom (until now).  I have some paint colors in mind so hopefully I will be selecting one soon.  We are definitely still going to have to get a rug and since I do what I do selections are in the process.

 Nursery Room #2!

Yes, you read correctly there is another "bun in the oven."  We are very excited and obviously trying to get some things accomplished before the next little one arrives.  Baby #2 (the bean) will make his/her debut January 2014.
