Our "Scrappy" Friends!

Welcome!

Hello fellow scrapbookers!!! Welcome to "Lasting Memories" which is all about LAYOUTS!! Yes, JUST layouts! There are no cards allowed here. We have weekly themed challenges, but you have the whole month to get in on the fun! Our challenges begin each Sunday at 8am EST and all 4 challenges will end on the date listed on the sidebar at 6pm EST. At month's end, we will choose a GDT to join us for a month! Only one entry per challenge, and no back-linking is allowed since we would love to know that we "challenged" you. We look forward to challenging you and helping you get your pages completed!

Specialized Hosting Sites

A lot of crafters use specialized hosting sites that not all of us have access to. We just wanted to let you know that if we don't comment, it's because we don't have access - but we see your work here at LM and appreciate your taking the time to link up and show off your style!!

LM #784 - The Power of Words: Quotes

Hello, and thanks for popping by Lasting Memories to check out our new challenge. Hopefully you will see something this month that inspires you to do some scrapbooking! We have a new theme starting today, so let's get right to it.

This is design team member Cheryl, your hostess this month. I just finished reading The Hobbit with my daughter as part of her home school English class, and one of the themes of the book is the power of words, which inspired me to see how we can use words to great effect on our layouts.

LM #784 - Use a quote on your layout.

Here are the sweet layouts from the design team, starting with our quest designer.

Introducing Our February Guest Designer

Greetings, everyone, and thanks for stopping by Lasting Memories Challenge Blog, where our focus is always on layouts. January is almost in the rear view mirror, so it's time to take a peek at what's ahead.  We have four new challenges in store this February, and we hope they inspire you to dig into your stash or go shopping for some new supplies so you can scrap the story of your life!

The new challenges start tomorrow, but today we want to introduce you to our February Guest Designer. She only recently started playing along with our challenges, but I have been a long time fan of her artwork. Please help us welcome Amanda.

My name is Amanda. I am a wife, mom to one son, one daughter and two doggies. I work part time as a physical therapist and spend the rest of my time chauffeuring my children to their many activities! I live in Canada and get most of my scrapbooking done during our cold winters! I started scrapbooking in 2006 and have grown more and more in love with the hobby every year. I love to make both layouts and cards. I keep all my scraps regardless how small and love to find ways to use them all! One of my favorite uses for them is journal strips – I include as much journaling as I can on my layouts to help preserve memories!

Amanda's artwork can be found in her gallery at Scrapbook.com, where she is known as Scrapanda.

Thanks for stopping by today. This is the final day to play along with our January challenges, so please check out the sketches and go get creative! Then be sure to come back tomorrow to discover our February theme.

LM #783 - Wendy's Sketch Challenges: Four Photos

Greetings, fellow scrappers. January is almost over already (doesn't it feel like the year just started?) so we are back with the final challenge for the month. Design team member Wendy has been treating us to some fun sketches, and we have certainly enjoyed playing with them. Hope you will, too!

This week, we are using a 4 photo sketch. Sketches are a great jumping off place for your layout design, but feel free to change them up a little to work with your photos. Rotate them, add an extra photo, used different shapes than the ones pictured, etc. And have fun with it!

LM #783 - be inspired by this 4 photo sketch.

LM #782 - Wendy's Sketch Challenges: Three Photos

It's a long weekend here in the United States, so hopefully you are taking advantage of that by either scrapbooking some past events or taking pictures of yourself doing something fun that you can later scrapbook! Design team member Wendy has been inspiring us to get crafty with some sketches she found, so let's get to her latest sketch.

This week, we are using a 3 photo sketch. Sketches are a great jumping off place for your layout design, but feel free to change them up a little to work with your photos. Rotate them, add an extra photo, used different shapes than the ones pictured, etc. And have fun with it!

I love sketches that let me use more than 1 photo, especially vacation pics - because I end up with hundreds! Sticking with my New Year resolution to use old stash: some really old Little Yellow Bicycle stash.

Love Sketches. I used Uniquely Creative Dec Collection "Written in the Stars." I am not a fan of yellow but not going to let the collection sit in a drawer!

Introducing our January Guest Designer

Happy New Year, everyone, and thanks for stopping by Lasting Memories Challenge Blog, where our focus is always on layouts. Christmas is over and we are into a new year, so we hope you decide to print some of those pictures you took and get them scrapped using our fun challenges!

The new challenges start tomorrow, but today we want to introduce you to our January Guest Designer. Her beautiful layouts are 8"x8"s, and it's so amazing how much eye candy she can pack into the smaller canvas. We know you are going to enjoy seeing her layouts this month! Please help us welcome Jael.

January GDT Jael
Image

My name is Jael. I am a wife and mother to four kids, and I have 12 grandkids, 9 girls and 3 boys. I got introduced to scrapping by my sister in around 1998 when my youngest child was one year old. The cool thing now is that both my sisters scrap, too! We get together in the summer to scrap a few times at my house, when school is out. As you can tell from my layouts, I love colors. I always say my favorite color is RAINBOW! Now my grandkids say that, too. Last year my youngest daughter took up scrapping too, and she now has her own scrap room, so I give her lots of my supplies that I no longer want (I never throw anything away). My granddaughter Emma also scraps and does junk journaling, and I love to scrapbook with her when she spends the night at my house.

Jael's artwork can be found in her gallery at A Cherry on Top.

Thanks for stopping by today. This is the final day to play along with our December challenge, so please check it out and go get creative! Then be sure to come back tomorrow to discover our January theme.

LM #779 - Favorite Challenges from 2025 - Design Team Inspiration Part 2

Good morning, and welcome back to Lasting Memories Challenge blog. We need to start this post with some sad news: our long time design team member Sandy is stepping down, and so this will be the last layout she is sharing as a design team member. We will definitely miss you, Sandy, but wish you all the best in wherever your crafty adventures take you.

Our design team is taking a break this month to spend time with family and to enjoy the season, so we will have just one challenge for December. Unlike other challenges, you may play along with this one up to three times!

LM #779 - Create a layout using a favorite challenge from 2025 or a challenge you wanted to play along with but missed the deadline.

Here is our fabulous design team inspiration, starting with our December guest designer. Margaret once again chose to combine two challenges on her layout.

And here is the layout she created.

I chose LM 739 Back to Basics - Band Design from February 23.

I chose LM 757 - Jill's Favorite Things: Tools from June 29. My favorite go-to tool is my die cutter.  I have been building my collection of dies and my favorites are flowers and clouds.

I chose LM 760 - Jill's Favorite Things: Brands. My favorite designer is Vicki Boutin.

I re-visited LM 757 - Jill's Favorite Things: Tools. I love using my Cricut on almost every layout.

Introducing our December Guest Designer

Hello, everyone, and thanks for stopping by Lasting Memories Challenge Blog, where our focus is always on layouts. We know it's a busy time of year, but we hope you can take some time out to enjoy this fun hobby and get those memories scrapped!

The new month will be starting in just two more days, and we are all ready with our December challenge, but today we want to introduce you to our December Guest Designer. Her layout caught our eye when she participated recently, and we know she will inspire you with her beautiful work! Please help us welcome Margaret.

December GDT Margaret
Image

My name is Margaret. I am very honored to be asked to be a Guest Designer for December. I live in Ontario, Canada and am a wife of 21 years to a history-loving veteran, a stepmother to two wonderful grown children, and a grandmother to one amazing little soul. I have been creative in one way or another my entire life and find that it has amazing benefits for maintaining a healthy mind and spirit. When life gets too noisy, I retreat to my craft room to sooth the soul. I was introduced to cardmaking in 2004 when I relocated to London and was looking for ways to meet new people in the community. I plucked up the courage and attended a local small craft supply store that offered card making and other art classes in the evenings. I met a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator there who introduced me to the wonderful benefits of scrapbooking, so have been doing both every since. I tend to focus on doing double layouts for scrapbooking. One in the 12x12 traditional style and the other a coordinating pocket page. I love being a part of the paper crafting community and enjoy not only engaging in challenges through blogging but also attending in person ‘crop and create’ events. There is something extra energizing about being in a room full of people who are all about connecting and creating!

Margaret's artwork can be found on her blog or her YouTube channel.

And here is a fun sneak peek of her layout for tomorrow!
