DInner with the Girls

Tonight, we went out with the Linfords, Ashtons, Hudsons, and the Changs. It was so fun to go with the girls. It was the first time I had been able to meet Gwen's husband, Matt. He was so nice and I can tell what a good guy he is.

This was also the first time that I had ever brought a boy with me and my friends. I called 2 of them to find out if it was weird. I was kind of nervous because we had only been dating a week, and didn't want my friends to over react. I knew I wanted to spend more time with him, and I knew I liked him enough to want my friends to see him.

Dinner was fun because Becky and Ed told us they were pregnant! It was for my friends to see us together. I loved seeing Dan ask about everyone's lives, even though he had already asked me about them and their lives. After dinner, we all sat around and talked. I saw Dan intereacting with Ellen's kids and thought that we would make such a good dad! It was so fun to see the girls and have them meet Dan.

After that we went back to the house where Dan was house sitting and stayed for hours talking. As we were getting ready to leave, he gave me a kiss before we left. It was so sweet. He's a great guy!

Marathon Date

Dan was still house/dog sitting Max & Greta. On Christmas Day, he had called and asked if I wanted to go to his cabin to take the dogs up. I had a really good time the week before with our first date, and when we played pool so I wanted to go. We were having a really good time together and I liked being with him.

This was the day that I noticed what a gentleman Dan is. He opened every door. He always made sure I was ahead of him. He also treated me really well. We picked up some Subway sandwiches and drove up to the cabin and hiked in with the dogs. They were so excited to be outside. The whole to,e, I was constantly surprised with how much we had to talk about. Conversation was never an issue. We let the dogs loose once we got to the cabin. We got a fire started because it was FREEZING. Dan took me on a tour of the cabin and then we sat down right in front of the fire because it was so cold. We just sat there and talked for a few hours. Dan opened up more about his life and I told him some of the struggles I had been dealing with. We held hands. I was amazed at what kind of a person he had become, despite some of the challenges he'd faced in his life. I was able to learn more about him. After lunch and lots of shivering, we left the cabin and decided to head back down to Salt Lake.

We took the dogs back to feed them and get them home. We decided since neither of us had plans, we should do dinner and a movie. I finished up my sandwich at the house, but the dogs got Dan's sandwich. So we needed to get him some more food. As we were leaving, Dan slowly pulled me in for a kiss. Little did he know that I had made a rule in my head that I wasn't going to kiss him for two weeks. So sad for him, I ended up rejecting him. I felt bad, but wanted to stick to my rule. When we walked out of the house, he gave me a big hug and told me that he really liked me. I hugged him back and told him that I liked him too. We decided to see the new Sherlock Holmes. We had been together all day, not run out of things to talk about, and still wanted to hang out.

As we were driving back to my house, we were sitting on my couch talking when a car pulled into the driveway. It was 10:30 and none of my roommates had any clue who it would be. I check the peep hole to see who was at the door and to my complete shock and amazement, my mom was at the door. I had a million things going through my mind as I opened the door, wondering what in the world she was doing there! I opened the door and the first thing she said "Oh you're going to hate this." Apparently Dan's parents had been worried because they hadn't heard from us since we had come back from the cabin. She had called and text him a few times and was incredibly worried. Worried to the point that she busted out the Highland High School directory and looked up my house to call my parents. I about died laughing and poor Dan was so embarrassed. We both thought...."we are 28 years old." My mom asked me why I was answering my phone, to which I answered "I'm on a date!" When I saw my phone, my parents had exploded it with phone calls, messages, and texts. Dan called his mom, and sent my mom home and we just laughed. It was such a great story and we love to tell it!

I had so much fun with Dan that day and we were both amused that we were together for such a long time. We never ran out of things to talk about and we had so much fun!

First Date

Dan and I had been sitting next to each other at our ward white elephant Christmas party. Everyone were cleaning up and getting ready to go, when Dan asked me for my number. I gave it to him, wondering how this was going to turn out. I didn't get out of school until Wednesday of that week and Christmas was on Sunday. He called the next day. 2 times. Within 3 minutes of each other. He left a message the second time, and it was SUPER awkward, explaining why he called twice (way to go Pete!) and that he wanted to take me out.

We went out on Wednesday. Dan wanted to take me to Red Ginger for sushi. While I'm not a big fish fan, I am able to do sushi every once in a while. We ran into Kwousin and Jimmy while we were waiting for our table, and Dan had his first exposure to my family. When we finally were seated, I let Dan order the sushi for us. We could talk so easily. Dan opened up quickly about his past. I was a little surprised that he was talking about it on the first date, but it didn't bother me at all. The sushi was delicious, even the caviar topped one!

When we left dinner, Dan just started driving. I had no clue where he was taking me. We ended up going to the Gateway to pick up a Christmas present for Andrew. Then we headed back to where Dan was house/dog sitting. Dan let Max and Greta out, and I was introduced to the most needy dogs in the world! We ended up just talking for a long time.

It was so easy to talk to each other. Conversation just flowed. We tried to figure out if we had crossed paths at some point in our lives at Highland, the U, or anywhere else. But we didn't. At the end of the night, I knew that we'd be going out again. I was impressed with everything I had learned about Dan. I could tell immediately that he was a really good person, and I really liked that.
