Downtown Manistee

Downtown Manistee. What great architecture in this small town. The town, like many in the Midwest and around the country, has suffered under hard times but there's a lot to appreciate in this place.

This is a shot from a storage facility at Stander Marine in Leland, MI which has been in business for 101 years.

Ducks

While going to get my eggs from my supplier I walked into the garage where they're kept and heard chirping. Expecting animals with a beak I was surprised to see animals with bills.

Sled Dogs

This was fun. I was taking photos of sled dogs and I was offered the chance to ride on the sled as they took a lap. There were ear-piercing barks aplenty as the dogs yelled at me to hurry and get in. Once the dog sled team driver took off, barking ceased as the dogs went into run mode and the only sound were the sled's runners glidung through the snow and the drivers commands. The dogs used are called Eurohounds which I found out is a cross between an Alaskan Husky and a Pointer. This is a dog that is fanatical about snow sports.

Here's to a great 2013

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. Some of my dearest family members made the trek north to Traverse City and for that I'm very thankful. It was a blast seeing them all and feeling the closeness of family. Here's my cousin Bryce rocking 3D glasses I bought when I went to go so "Avatar" way back when. The movie is in the past now but those 3D shades are timeless, especially when wore by this guy.

Monarch of brewing, King Gambrinus, stands, watching over the Pabst brewery in Milwaukee, WI. Even a beer un-appreciator could appreciate the tradition and beauty that the architecture and antiquity of this structure exudes.

Although it feels dated now since so much snow has fallen since, this picture was taken last Wednesday in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Art Museum

Although my trip through Milwaukee was, like my entire trip around Lake Michigan, all too brief, I was amazed by the variety that lie along the approximately 1,000 mile route. This was taken at the Milwaukee Art Museum, one of, if the the, most beautiful structures I've ever seen.
