The rest of Zions

While we were in Zion we also had a beach day. It was SO FUN. We rented a boat and jet skis and just relaxed the day away.

Berit and I were in charge of taking out the skis. The other night we were looking at these pictures and I said I like this one because we look like twins. Then Berit says something along the lines of, "it my dream, Mary-Kate and Ashley on jet skis!" It was so funny!
ImageAnd away we go...
ImageNext step, getting everyone off the boat and the tube set up.
ImageLook how adorable Merms is... I think I am in love with this girl. (for those who dont know, her real name is not merms. Its Marie, but when Axel was little he couldnt say Marie, he said mermie, and it just evolved)
ImageThen we all went tubing. Ella had never gone before and she loved it. I think she stayed out the whole time while everyone switched off. I only went 2 times due to the massive reck in which Ella and Kendall landed on top of me and I got a knee to the nose. Oh the joys of tubing! Shalaine was ripping it up out there as well. We found out that weekend that tubing is in her top 3 talents.

ImageMarie again, I cant get over how cute she is.
ImageMarie and Alan (papa) on the jet ski. Marie loved going fast on it. I took out axel and he said we were going too fast the whole time (I wasnt even pressing on the gas).

ImageThe next day we decided to go on another hike. We decided to do part of the narrows.
ImageHere we are. This is the part just before you have to start hiking through the water.
ImageIt was somewhat sketchy, so Shalaine had some extra supports. We wouldnt want baby Coco to fall into that freezing cold water. It was like ice. Luckily we didnt get much farther than this. The water level was a bit too deep, so we headed back.
ImageWhile we were in Zion we ate at some amazing places. Here we are outside this Mexican place we went to. The whole family.

Alan's Big Birthday

In October (I know, I am still behind), Kendall's dad, Alan, had his 60th birthday. So, Kendall's mom put together a huge surprise weekend for him down in Zions. Alan thought they were just going down to use his new mountain bike (which he got for his birthday) and have a romantic weekend, but it turns out that all the kids were there! It involved a lot of sneaking around and for awhile we all thought he knew. Anyway, it was really fun. One of Alan's big goal was to hike angel's landing. Im sure you all know that I am NOT a hiker, so I was really nervous about this hike. I read online that it is an extremely stenuous uphill hike, and that 6 people had died doing it. Well it turns out I loved it. The best part is toward the end when you climb up the side of a cliff and hold on to these safety chains. I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone going to Zions, even though it may seem scary. The view was amazing and it was so much fun.

Here we are at the start of the hike, as you can see I dont look that tired yet.
ImageNext came a series of steep switch backs, I am not in this one because I was tired at this point. So, i was resting behind the last corner.
ImageAnother series of switch backs, everyone rounding the corner.
ImageAt the top, before the cliff with the chains, we saw this sweet falcon? on top of a tree.
ImageThis is where Shalaine and Cort decided to stop, due to to the fact that Shalaine carried Coco up the whole way!! I cant believe what a trooper she is. Anyway, it was too dangerous to keep going.
ImageWe took couple pictures at the top, so here are Alan and Berit.

ImageAnd on the hike back down ...
ImageWe were super sweaty on the way back down, so Kendall and Cort took a little dip in the river.

Still Catching up

Way back in October (i think) Landon was in town visiting, so we all headed up to Park City. We looked around a few fancy hotels. Then we decided to head up to the Alpine slides. I have to say it was SO MUCH FUN! I was really surprised how much I loved it. It is a little pricey so I wasnt all that into doing it but turns out it is totally worth it! First you get to ride the lift, which is fun in itself. Then you get to go on this thrilling ride down the mountain.

Here is Lex and Landon and Ken waiting for the lift.

Once you get to the top you wait in line for your turn. Lex and I were pretty excited at this point.
Image
Here we are before our turn. I was kind of scared because the operator was telling us that you have to control your speed and if you go too fast you can fall off the tracks.

Since Lexie and I went first I had time to run back and get some shots of Landon and Ken racing.
ImageNext time you are in Park City, go check out the slides...
