Grateful

We are all so grateful that Reese is home and is doing well. Uncle Patrick came in town for Thanksgiving, so he got to be one of the first to see little Reese when she came home.

Blakey loves to hold Reese. He will try to calm her down and patiently hold her while he is watching TV. Such a great big brother.

Going home

One nice thing that happened while Reese was in ICU, was they put me up in a suite, so I could be closer to Reese for the last night.  It was really nice to not have to leave and go to another part of the hospital. Grandma Ali hung out with us.  While I was watching the Thanksgiving parade on TV, I got the news that we could take Reese home. I was hugging all the doctor and nurses and so happy to take her home so we could be all together again!

Going for her first ride. Reese had to sit in her car seat for 60 minutes before they would let her leave ICU. When she only had 5 minutes left, she blew out her diaper and pooped all through everything including the base to the car seat!

Well kind of..Reese is our only baby that didn't go to our house right after the hospital. Because it was Thanksgiving, we surprised everyone at Keet and Tk's with this cute little turkey.

Newborn Intensive Care

So Reese had to stay in NICU for 5 days. It was 5 long, lonely days of trying to get this little girl to jump through all the hoops so she could come home. The kids could not see her at all. I had to feed her or pump every 3 hours. So a couple times I left the hospital to spend time with Kris and the kids. I even came home and made pie with Peyton. These 5 days were a roller coaster. We were given false hope of Reese coming home so many times. It was exhausting.

We finally got a picture of Daddy and his little girl.

So the nurses told me that she only slept a couple hours in a full 24 hours. I should have know then that sleeping was not going to be one of her strong suits!

Even though she was a big baby, newborn clothes were still huge on her

Every time I walked in to see her, I was over come with emotion. It was so hard to see her with all the wires and machines hooked up to her. She still looked like a healthy little baby!

Whirl wind

We didn't get to take a lot of pictures, because within minutes of me having Reese, they took her back to run tests on her. Then after hours they finally brought her to me to let me say good bye so they could admit her to the NICU. That was super tough. They kids had such a hard time because they only got to see her for maybe 10 minutes.

This is one of my favorite pictures. These 3 were just so excited to meet their little sister. She is going to be spoiled to death!

Reese's first bath

So after they took Reese away to run tests on her, they drew her blood an found a weird infection in her blood. This infection, would require her to be on antibiotic for at least 48 hours. After several attempts to find a vein to put her IV in, they finally put one in her head. It was very difficult to see her like this. But she was a tough chick!

Our sweet girl

Reese Joy Kilpatrick

On Sunday November 18, 2012 at 3:39pm our sweet baby girl Reese Joy was born. She was born at Timpanogoos hospital in Orem, Utah. She weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. We went to the hospital in around 7 am and took it took the entire day for this little girl to make her entrance into our lives. When Reese was born, she was having a hard time breathing, she was taken away from me and rushed to NICU to run more tests on her.

I can't explain the extreme emotions that I have when I see my babies for the first time. It's amazing to me the love I can have for someone that I have only know for seconds.

Welcome to our family Reese! We have been waiting for the day for a very long time!
