CEDA, established in 2017, is a small, volunteer-run charity driven by a profound passion for education and a commitment to transforming lives. Our primary focus is on providing quality education to children, believing it to be the key to breaking the cycle of poverty in Uganda. As a humble charity that began with a vision to make a difference, we've evolved over the years in how we support and educate children. Though small, our impact is substantial, fuelled by a genuine desire to give children the best chance for a brighter future. Education is not just a mission for us; it's a powerful tool for empowerment and change. We've witnessed the transformative effect education has on individual lives, families, and entire communities. CEDA stands as a testament to the belief that, regardless of their circumstances, every child deserves access to quality education.

Meet Dan, a spirited and inquisitive young boy filled with character and zest for life. He's a quick learner, mischievous, and loves exploring the world by climbing and dismantling things. CEDA's journey with Dan began in 2014 when co-founder Emilie volunteered at an orphanage. Dan, having lost his mother, faced health challenges due to early malnutrition. Fast forward to 2017, CEDA stepped in to support Dan's education, providing him with nutritious meals, medical care, and unwavering love. In March 2021, Dan faced a new challenge – a diagnosis of Lupus Nephritis after malaria treatment complications. His health deteriorated, requiring ICU stays, a kidney biopsy in Kenya, and ongoing treatments. Now, Dan needs sponsors to cover the costs of daily medicines, transport, and monthly consultations with his nephrologist. Dan's bravery throughout this journey is inspiring and he deserves a chance at a healthy, fulfilling life. We are currently supporting nine children and are committed to seeing them through their entire educational journey. All nine attend boarding schools, where they receive consistent care, stability, and access to education. Derick is now in Senior Three (S3) and continues to work hard and make good progress. John is in Senior Two (S2) at the same school as Derick and also studies agriculture as an extra subject, gaining practical skills alongside his academic work. Babirye and Waiswa are both in Senior Two (S2) at different boarding schools in Jinja, having secured places at well-regarded schools following their Primary Leaver Examination results. Kisakye is currently repeating Primary Seven (P7) by her own choice, with the aim of improving her results and progressing to a stronger secondary school. Bashir is in Primary Six (P6), Dan and Kenneth are in Primary Five (P5), and Rukia is in Primary Four (P4). In addition to our boarding students, we also support one child through day school fees while she remains living with her family. Diana is currently in Primary Five (P5). By joining our Sponsor a Child programme with a contribution of £15 or more per month, you help cover essential needs. On average, it costs £100 per month to support a child in primary school and £200 per month for a child in secondary school. Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty in Uganda. With consistent support, these children are able to remain in school, build skills, and work towards a more secure future. Sponsorship helps cover school fees, supplies, transport, and holiday support.
