Adams First Wrestling Tournament

Wrestling has not been an easy thing for me to let Adam do.  It is a HUGE time commitment (practice 4 days a week and 2 days of tournaments is 6 days a week of wrestling!), I know nothing about wrestling, and it is wrestling, what Mom wants to watch their kid get pinned to the ground?  However Richard comes from a family of wrestlers, he wrestled and his brother was a state champion wrestler so here we are.  Adam has really been practicing hard, and learning a lot.  Today he was nervous, but he used everything that he learned and won all 4 of his matches and took first place over all in his weight group.  Which not only was exciting in itself for his first tournament, but he was the smallest in his group. He said afterward that he had fun too!  Image

Halloween 2012

I usually make the kids costumes, but this year had no energy to do so.  Adam borrowed one from a friend and I bought one for Kenzie.  I planned on doing the same for Andrew, but he was very specific about being Lightening McQueen with a car, and he would put his hands in front of his body.  So everyday this week I did a little bit to a cardboard box, so he could have his Lightening McQueen.  Then of course it would rain and cardboard does not hold up well in the rain.  After about 30 minutes, the side split-I joked and said his door opened!  Luckily we were on our way home so it wasn't to upsetting.  I'm glad I got some pictures before hand, I almost didn't though as you can tell by the rain drops on McQueens face.
Andrew loved it!

Adam was an Ape-at school he was a yard duty ape, he borrowed the yard duty vest and whistle, I forgot to ask if he gave out any citations!  Kenzie was a Disco Girl-but you can't really tell here!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

I really thought that I has all my pictures on my laptop, and that I had them all uploaded onto my Picassa albums online, as a back-up.  Now that my laptop is broken, I was looking at my pictures on my desktop and realized I had way more on here that aren't backed up on-line.  It is so fun to look at old pictures!  Anyone know any good deals on getting pictures printed?

1 Down 1 To Go

So our laptop and our desktop both went out of commission at the same time, of course this was also the time that I had out of control morning sickness, so I really didn't care!  Our desktop got a virus that wouldn't let me open anything, even the virus protector thingy, the laptop fell off the couch one to many times and the screen wont work. We got the desktop fixed, but the laptop is probably toast, so I just have to wait until we can get a new one.

So just a few quick updates-I'm now 16 weeks pregnant, still nauseous especially if I try and do to much and I found out Tuesday I have gestational diabetes.  I'm trying not to be to upset about it and just take care of myself, but it just adds stress to my already stressful pregnancy. I'm glad that only nutrients get passed to my baby and not all my emotions!  I already met with a nurse and dietitian and have my blood tester thingy, and just keep telling myself to deal with it!

Kenzie and Adam started school back in August-Kenzie is in 5th grade and Adam in 1st.  They both have the same teacher that they did last year so that has been nice that they are already adjusted to their teacher and helped me not to feel guilty for not going to back to school night!  They are just having to adjust to the workload, Kenzie doesn't have as much homework, but is needing to do more studying which is hard.  Adam is now there all day, but his homework isn't much, in fact he asks for more difficult homework.  They are both playing soccer and really enjoying it which is fun.  Adam started wrestling this year. There is a lot more to learn, but Adam is a good listener and I think he will get the hang of it soon, but he isn't to sure about it yet.  Andrew is thankfully so content to go with the flow!  I really wanted to start him in gymnastics or something this fall, but that isn't happening.  He is happy to go hang out at others peoples homes when I am to sick, or just lay next to me on the couch and watch TV.  I can't believe he will be 4 next month! He is going to be a great big brother!

Richard is just as busy as ever.  Between work and his church responsibilities he is always on the move.  Then there is always the random stuff like this week he helped a friend replace the brakes on his car, did the same on our truck, had to check on some bees, help a friend move a TV, and deal with an overly emotional wife!  Since my last post was about him getting his motorcycle permit, I should post he got his motorcycle license last week, have you seen the new drivers licenses they are so crazy different, but cool.  I was fine with it till I had to follow him somewhere the other day and it made me nervous, but he hardly rides it so it will be ok.

I wish I had some pictures to share, but I haven't taken any since the first day of school,  maybe now that I am starting to feel better I will start to post some, and maybe take some new ones!   Happy Fall!   I love fall!

Like Father Like Son

Richards Dad has ridden motorcycles pretty much his whole life, except for when he was raising his kids.  He rode them all growing up, and tells funny stories about riding them in High School and you could always tell what girls had ridden with him that day because they would have a streak of dirt up the back of their sweater from the back tire!  Anyway he stopped riding when Richard was born.  His Dad bought him an old Honda motorcycle in February of 2003, and that fall Richards sister Jessica got married and on the way home from dropping off the last bridesmaid at the airport he stopped at the HarleyDavidson dealership and bought himself a Harley.  Well, Richard has always wanted to ride motorcycles, he has gotten his permit twice but never his license.  Well the other day he was talking to his Dad about wanting to buy a motorcycle and I think his Dad thought it was cool that Richard wanted to do something like him, so he told Richard he could ride the old Honda to get his license.  The day he said we could pick it up we went over there and Harvey had filled up the tires, filled it with gas, and had it out and all ready for Richard.  So they both went out for a ride.                                                                            Image

Richard rides it a few times a week, to meetings and to feed the chickens and little runs to the store.  I wonder when Adam will want one?!

Kenzies Piano Recital

Kenzie is still taking piano, and even though practicing can be difficult, she really loves it, and wants to keep taking.  She performed 3 pieces at her recital last week.  The first was a duet with her teacher and the second is a song they are learning in Primary, and the third is one she just likes and tried to play it as fast as she can!

Computer Overload...

So as you may have noticed or has only Diane noticed?  Anyway I have been blogging quite a bit lately-I don't know what it was summer vacation, looking at pics, and wanting to share them, or just a thought that I was gonna see if I could keep up with Diane!  Well anyway I hit a speedbump so to say last Sunday.  We had just gotten home from our friends the Guymons and I wanted to blog about their sons going away party before Diane did (so ya I guess I was blogging to see if I could keep up with Diane!) anyway I was downloading the pics off of Richards camera when all of a sudden my computer starts flashing messages to me about how my hard drive is full, and there is not enough memory to run the programs etc, etc!  WHAT!!  How in the world did I fill up a whole computer!  So I have spent this week deleting old programs and cleaning it up.  I haven't been able to free up to much space, and found that the amount of pictures that I have stored on my computer is about half of the hard drive!  I have about 90% saved on an on line site, but I still have a hard time taking them off my computer.  Although I keep telling myself what good are they doing on my computer anyway where no one really sees them.  Didn't I blog about this before?  I think that was my goal this year to do something cool with all my pictures-whoops, totally missed that one.  Although I do still have half the year left!  I better get on that one.  Well I got my computer cleaned enough to run stuff again, so now I can blog again-and with that very long winded into here are the pics we took at Williams farewell party.  My boys love love William, he is the cool older brother they don't have, that takes them for rides in his Jeep, plays hide and seek with them, and listens to the radio with them (they even know his favorite song!) I am so grateful for William and the example he has set for them and I am so excited for William, now Elder Guymon to be serving the people of France on his mission!

The Weekend

Hmmm.....what to blog about today?  It is Memorial Day Weekend and while everyone is out camping we are home cleaning,  No fun, but the house needs it.  It has been a super crazy last 6 weeks.  Richard was gone for 3 weeks, during that time I started my performances with my singing group One Accord.  We performed for about 3 weeks, then it was the last week of school with field trips, parties, etc. Well now it is summer vacation and the kids probably wish they were back in school because we haven't done anything fun the last two days. Sometimes life is just that way isn't it.
When Richard was gone the kids had a Friday off school, so I told them at the beginning of the week if they cleaned their rooms then on Friday we would have a surprise.  I was amazed how hard they worked.  I think Adam spent most of Thursday in his room cleaning, but he got it clean and they earned their surprise.  I took them to Sacramento to a little amusement park called Funderland.  It is for kids about 3-10, so it fit just perfect.  They had about 10 rides and since it was a weekday we could buy an unlimited pass-so they rode rids for about 4 hours. I forgot the camera, so here are some grainy pics from my cell phone.  They really had fun!                                                                      Image

Kindergarten Celebration

Adams last day of Kindergarten sure was exciting!  They got to go bowling-it was pretty cute to watch 40+ Kindergarteners throw heavy balls down the lanes.  All the lanes had bumpers, so the balls would bump, bump all the way down and then knock over the pins.  A lot of the kids only lasted about 4 or 5 turns.  Adam had no problem filling in for the kids that didn't want to take their turn, he bowled a 74!Image

Image
Adams teacher Stacy took one of the kids turns-she has been an amazing teacher for Adam.  She has been teaching for 10 years, but this is her first year teaching Kindergarten and she was awesome, you would have thought that it was her 10th year teaching Kindergarten.  Adams school is trying something called looping where the kids get the same teachers for 2 years in a row, so Stacy will be moving with the kids to 1st grade.
Image
Carla got one of the kids turns too.  Carla was Adams teacher while Stacy was on maternity leave.  She has a totally different style than Stacy, but the kids totally flowed with it!  They loved her and where so excited to have her come today to their bowling party.

Image
Adam and his friend Drew-they were the die hards that bowled all the other kids turns that where too tired.
Image
One of the moms in the class made this owl cake for the end of the year celebration-their class was the owl class.
Image
I made Carla a little tote bag and had all the kids sign it, they were so excited to make something for her and she her open it at their celebration!
Image
Here is Adam getting his Kindergarten certificate.  Stacy was so sweet and had a word that described each of the kids.  Adams word was eager, because he was always eager to do his work, his homework, to listen, and to help out.
Image
She had a balance beam and after she presented them with their certificate they would walk across it and be 1st graders!

Wow!  That year went by so fast!  Adam is a 1st grader!
