Life has finally started to settle down into a routine and pattern for our family! We had my folks stay with us for 2 weeks after Cooper was born and then Andy’s mom stayed for several days, then Andy was home for Spring Break. So it took a full solid month before we got to experience life as a family of four. Routine and schedule has proved to be beneficial for all of us! Drew had some adjustment periods but has loved being a big brother. He is such a big help and wants to hold Cooper all the time! He is really very sweet. He has enjoyed going back to KDO two days a week and I am dreading May because we LOVE his teachers. I do not want to leave them!
Cooper is doing wonderful! He is by far one of the easiest babies I have ever seen. Cooper has already showed signs of wanting to be just like his big brother! We had a rocky start because he got jaundice so bad we had to have a billi-light and home health care come to our house daily. By the way, Drew did the exact same thing (I was going to post pictures of both of them laying in their little beds but Andy has the camera that has Cooper’s pics and his first bath and I’ve been waiting to upload those for weeks now- so I finally gave up and decided to go ahead and update!) Anyway, Cooper dropped a lot of weight due to the jaundice and wasn’t thriving on nursing alone so the pediatrician gave us no choice but to supplement with formula (once again, just like Drew). Once we got that solved Cooper has been gaining weight steadily and is doing terrific both nursing and taking a bottle. Here are his stats from the last month (not that you probably want to know all of them but because I want record of it myself!)
Birth Weight- 8 pounds 3 ounces
Weight and Color Check at 6 days old: 6 pounds 14 ounces- supplementation was suggested but Cooper didn’t really take it
Home Health Care at 1 week: 6 pounds 10 ounces
2 week check-up: 7 pounds- supplementation was forced by pedi
3 week- 8 pounds 4 ounces- (finally weight gain!!!)
4 week- 8 pounds 12 ounces
5 week- 9 pounds 4 ounces
6 week- 9 pounds 10 ounces
We go to weight clinic every Monday at the hospital to check on Cooper and make sure what we are doing is still working. It’s crazy- but I really look forward to those days!
I’ve also heard that 10 pounds is the magic number for sleeping more during the night. I’m guess we just might have a 10-pounder now (I’ll find out today) because he has gone 5 ½ and 4 ½ hour stretches at night and goes right back to sleep. He goes to bed at 8:30ish and wakes up around 1:30 or 2:00 and again around 6:00ish and again around 8:30 or 9:00. I can’t complain- especially since he goes right back to sleep after a feeding!
Anyway, we love our new family and are finally starting to get settled in our new home. We are super close to getting both cars parked in the garage and have office furniture coming this week or next. A yard is on the agenda as well. When we get those things checked off I think we will finally start feeling like we are living in a home! Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks (minus a few I hope to add at a later date)

Making Resurrection rolls
Time to Enjoy Easter Egg hunting on a glorious Easter Sunday!

And just for kicks…
Drew
Cooper
They are spitting images (in my opinion) Just a little side note- Cooper was born with a head full of hair and has lost almost every single bit of it. I thought Drew was my baldy and Cooper was my baby with hair, now looking at these pictures, I can’t believe that Drew had more hair than Coop!)
Well that wraps up life in the Penney household for the last few weeks! We hope all is going well with you. By the way- Comments rock if you actually read the blog!
