Our Thanksgiving

ImageI am really loving Thanksgiving these last couple of years. I love that my girls love to help decorate the table and bake in the kitchen. I especially love that Darin loves making the pies with the girls. This year he took a pie making class at Williams Sonoma. He and Paris apparently learned a lot, because our pies rocked!
Image
ImageParis and Papa playing the piano
ImageParis and Savvy trying to talk "uncle Jimmy" into coming back or staying longer...
ImageThe baby table. Should there really be such a thing?
ImageThe napkins all the kids folded (thank you, you tube) complete with the chocolates Paris designed for each guest...

ImageOur table, quite possibly the best part
ImageMore pictures of people, because they are more important than the food, right? Yep, especially when for two years in a row, the Turkey Bombed. Yep, worked so hard on it and then somehow the thermometer was in the wrong part of the Turkey and it said it was done, and it wasn't. Soooo, we had Turkey soup. The soup was great for the next four days, cause that's when I felt like cooking again!

Big Brother Comes to Town

ImageBecause when this guy comes to town, he gets his own Post. Please come back for Christmas!
ImageEverything is always fun and funny when Jimmy is with us. I think here is politely insulting the picture taker. If there is such a thing, he's doing it!

Thank You

ImageFor the Children's Museum where you can get paint everywhere and we all think it's Art
ImageFor Madeline who couldn't wait for Nanna and Pappa to arrive so we could go back to the Museum
ImageFor Paris who genuinely loves taking care of a seeing her siblings happy. She is crafting with Madeline here.
ImageThey have a big fire engine on display complete with the Dalmation. Thank you Children's Museum.
ImageThank you Shauna for moving here, so these cousins can grow up as "best friends."

ImageThank You to the seamstress who sewed these so I didn't have to.
ImageAnd who obviously has a sense of humor. I don't know why she's crying the outfit was her idea...
ImageThank you to Papa for helping Easton make a tractor the entire time we were there. Easton loves being with you!
ImageArt looks better at the museum!

Never Say This

Hey Darin, "I really don't think the flu shots work, because we never get them and we never get sick." I should note here: he doesn't agree with me.

Image
You get kids that have to stay home from church...
Image
Somehow they still manage to cook...
Image
Image
This is a good indicator of how she felt
Image
Popcorn will never taste good in this bowl again. It's been an entire week of the FLU. Yep, a bummer, wiped through the whole family. Flu shot next year? NOPE

Impromptu Photo Shoot

Image

This is the look she makes when she's either 1. in my makeup (she likes my bronzer, which is the bomb btw) 2. in fingernail polish or 3. running away from me with no diaper on.
Image

ImageI can't resist a kid with a hat on. Ava put this on to play with Easton in the cul de sac, rather than eat her up, I decided to snap some pictures, and practice my editing skills. Never have I had more respect for a real photographer, but hey I'm what we've got.

Image
ImageI think she looks way too old here. She is standing like a teenager. I think she looks scrumptious!

Darin and Savvy

Image

Science back in the Schools

ImageLike I always say how can you resist a guy that can put an animal back together?
ImageSavvy asked if he would donate it to a museum. Noooo, it's going in Easton's room!
Image
The home scientist has been putting this little guy together for weeks now. Weeks because these things take time when you have five kids leaning over you wanting an explanation for everything... The kids have loved doing this with Darin. It's a racoon found dead on his parents front porch. Yes the guy did have skin and fur to begin with. It was a lot of work getting to this point. I am positive he had more fun than the kids, but they loved it too. Tomorrow the racoon is going to school to two classrooms. Not sure who is more excited Darin or the kids. Hopefully he'll make it back home in one piece, because Easton wants to decorate his room with him.

Where's Easton and Halloween

ImageSavvy:  Sleepy Head  Paris:  Penelope (she did have the penelope nose)  Madeline:  tiger in a tutu.  Easton not pictured here on anywhere, because he couldn't get out of the house fast enough.
ImageA shout out to my good friend Kathi for helping me sew the tutus.  Seriously that is a good skill, somehow I missed out on it.  I just bought my first sewing machine.  Watch out if I or any of my kids drew you for Christmas.  I can almost guarantee you we are going to sew it.  You are going to LOVE it.
ImageA shout out to YOU TUBE for the instructions on how to paint these faces.  If you look far away, they are adorable.  Sorry about the close up picture, but you can imagine.
ImageI should note here.  Madeline was very unhappy with the shape of her Tiger Teeth.  What can I say I have limited talents...  Ava was actually afraid of herself when she looked in the mirror, but she loved me putting the make up on her.  She loves make up almost as much as she loves shoes.  I couldn't begin to guess where she gets that.
This year for Halloween my two oldest kids were actually gone for our family festivities.  Next we are steppin up, and the older kids are coming to our house.  It's not right to have your kids gone on Halloween night.  Problem is I have some stiff competition.  One of our friends did a beautiful, spooky, sit down dinner for 50.  Seriously, I am welcoming all ideas here!

Cancun in Pictures

Image
Isn't this what a "family vacation" is all about.  Ava never falls asleep in our Arms, what a treat.  You can tell by the look on his face, Darin sees is as much.
Image

One of Easton's signature looks
ImageEaston loved dancing with us the first night, then he discovered his own private retreat away from the dancing.
Image
ImageWe danced almost every night after dinner.  There is nothing like dancing with your baby.  I must say Easton's a pretty good dancer.

ImageWe drove to Chichen Itza, okay someone drove us to Chichen Itza.  It was phenomenal, and I couldn't believe how much the "bigs" got into it.  They already knew so much about the Mayan Culture, and the even the games they played.  I was impressed with their level of understanding and interest.  We spent longer than we planned.  It's amazing what knowledge this people had.  I found it so inspiring, and faith building. Also, since it rained every day at the beach it was a welcome relief to be here with no rain.
ImageWe ventured into Playa Del Carmen one day to get a bit of culture.  We got more than we ordered seeing 3 men arrested outside this fabulous local restaurante.  We got to watch the chef's make all the food.  This dessert was made at our table.
Image
We also listened to fine music on a wooden zylophone (who knew).  It was our only dinner outside the resort, besides the amazing tacos we ate on the side of the road on the way to Chichen Itza.  I know SCARY, but we ony got a little sick and they were good!
ImageOne of the very few times we actually got to play on the beach, since we were in a torrential downpour for most of the trip.
Image
ImageMadeline couldn't figure out why the water was so Salty.
ImageThis picture is so typical of Savvy.  She was trying to clean up the beach by ridding it of the Seaweed.  A big job!
ImageLast time we were in Mexico, Ava tried to devour all the sand.  Not this time, she's a quick learner.
ImagePossibly the best thing about the trip.  The happy hour, when drinks are two for one.  The kids had earned their own money and loved spending it on these jewels at the swim up bar.  The are know well versed in virgin drinks:)
ImageIt was exciting when the rain quit, so we could swim.
Image
Seriously, that hat should have never come off my head.  My hair was so insanely crazy underneath it.  I didn't even want to take it off to sleep.
ImageCould we ever have too many "mom, take a picture of my muscles" shots?
ImageNope!
Image
Image
Image
ImageSince it wasn't raining after dinner we let all the kids who so desired jump in the pool in their clothes.  It's so much fun while you are in, it was getting out with no towel that was a bummer.
ImageBaby at the buffet, watching the shows.  This could have been one of the 5 nights we celebrated her birthday.  More on sweet baby's birthday later.
ImageSergio, the resort celebrity entertaining us all.  He is a professional dancer and absolutely drunk and hilarious at all times.
ImageSergio imparting words of wisdom to Easton.  Mom and Dad cringing in the background.  Wish I had a picture of that.
Image
Image
More dancing.
Image
Still dancing!
Image
Darin and Ava on our snorkeling trip.
ImageMads and Easton took a little break after the first excursion.  They loved it, it was just a little too long.
ImageI am doubting very many babies go snorkeling.  This baby has got no choice, and she was a sport almost the entire time.  I had her in a tube, and she was pretty happy.
ImagePre-Snorkel
ImageDarin had so much fun with Madeline on our snorkeling trip.  She was super timid in the water, you know with the whole salty thing and all.  She wanted to get back in the boat until she looked down in utter amazement at what was beneath her.  She was in AWE.
ImageSee the face Savvy's making.  This is how the whole family feels about Ava.  There is a reverence for her that no one else has the honor of receiving in quite the same way.  We all adore her!
Image
Image
This is Easton's "cool guy" face.  Isn't it cool?
