You’ll need a free Leonardo account to get started. Once you’re logged in, select API from the toolbar to set up your API access and receive $5 in free API credit to try your first generations.

Yes. Every new API account starts with $5 in free API credit, allowing you to test the API, explore features, and validate your integration before spending anything.

You can use the Leonardo API for a wide range of media generation workflows, including image generation, text-to-image, image-to-image, and image-to-video use cases. The API also supports image and video editing workflows through visual-first design and exportable production code.

Leonardo offers two API options:

  • Pay as you go – no commitments, pay only for what you use
  • Custom plans – for higher concurrency, volume discounts, and dedicated support

You can start self-serve and move to a custom plan when your usage grows.

If you require higher monthly usage, increased concurrency, or dedicated support, you can contact our team to discuss a custom API plan tailored to your needs.

Yes. Your input images are private and accessible only to you.

Yes. You can delete your input images using the Delete Init Image API endpoint.

No. Your input images are never used for training. They are only used to extract parameters that influence your specific generation request.

Yes. You can control the visibility of generated images by setting the public parameter to false when creating a generation via the API.

No. Images generated through the Leonardo API are not used for training.

You retain ownership of all inputs you provide. Leonardo assigns to you all rights, titles, and interests in the outputs generated based on your inputs, in accordance with Section 3 of our Terms of Service.

Yes. Leonardo offers API access for training custom fine-tuned models, allowing you to tailor generation to your specific use case.

Yes. Once your custom model is trained, you can generate images with it by specifying the model ID in your API request.

Default limits for usage and concurrency are published on our API Limits page. These limits can be increased with a custom plan if needed.

Yes. Higher concurrency limits are available through custom API plans. Contact our team to discuss your requirements.

Yes. Images generated using the Leonardo platform and API can be used for commercial purposes, subject to our Terms of Service.
