First time watching the Theatrical Cut with the new 4k remaster. I was told this cut was way worse than the director’s cut but I still really like it. I could tell the opening was really trimmed down, so maybe I was filling in some of the blanks from what I remember from that longer version. The movie still has really weird pacing, but it paints a really cool world and the effects/designs are amazing.
Watched the theatrical cut on the Shout 4k. I will say visually this movie looks pretty damn good. The characters just suck and it’s trying to be so coy about its bullshit retcons by not actually explaining anything. There was ZERO satisfaction from that ending.
Rewatched through Arrow's recent 4k remaster, which really had me appreciating the colors and cinematography of the film a lot more than before. At the same time, I didn't remember some CGI being so noticeably dated (the ant on the train lmao). Still, that's a minor drawback to such a well-crafted film. So many callbacks and frequent use of foreshadowing that can only really be appreciated on a rewatch, which both tie into the themes of time and memory throughout…
