I don't know why anyone would conceive of a sub-par sequel 11 years after the original. The Net in 1995 was a legitimate thriller because it was at the eve of the tech and dot com boom. It was a somewhat intelligent tech thriller that showed the good and malicious possibilities of what an always on-line world could be like.
