What is This?
Interlibrary Exchange (ILE) is a multifandom fiction novel gift exchange. Gifts will be be in written, podfic, or fanart form. The community account for this exchange can be found here, this year's exchange can be found here, and this year's tagset can be found here. What Counts as a Viable Fandom?
Anything that is a fiction novel. Poetry, autobiographies, script novels, non-fiction, graphic novels, and (web) comics are not allowed. However, CNovels, novellas, and short stories are allowed. Original Work is also not a part of this exchange. If you have a question about if your fandom is viable, leave a comment. Anon commenting will be left on.

How Many Nominations Can I Make? How Do They Work?
You may make 10 fandom nominations, with 10 character or relationship nominations each (in the relationship field on AO3). On Tagset Bonus Day, one extra nomination may be made.

Requests for solo characters should be formatted as follows: 'Solo: Bob'.

Romantic or sexual relationships should be denoted with a slash (a/b) and platonic relationships should be denoted with an ampersand (a&b).

If the characters are from different fandoms, nominate them in 'Crossover Fandom' with each fandom in parentheses. For example: Hermione Granger (Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling)/Susan Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis)

Tagset Clean Up & Tagset Bonus Day:

What is Tagset Clean Up?
Deleting duplicates and otherwise fine tuning the tagset.

What is Tagset Bonus Day?
On Tagset Bonus Day, one extra nomination may be made in any viable fandom by visiting the community account and commenting on the applicable post. The nomination can be a fandom already in the Tagset or a new fandom. Have an itch for something you forgot to add or just ran out of slots? This day is for you!

Sign Ups:

When do These Run: May 16th - May 29th (Current as of 2021)

How do Requests work?
You may have between 3-15 fandom requests, with 20 characters or relationships. Remember the distinction between a/b and a&b.You may repeat a fandom as long as you request at least 3 different fandoms first. You may request 'any', but make sure you're really okay with all the possibilities within the Tagset first. DNWs (Do Not Wants) must be listed on the sign up form to be enforced. There will be an optional line in the Sign Up to link a letter, as well as a letter post on the community account.

How do Offers Work?
You may have between 3-15 fandom offers, with 20 characters or relationships. Remember the distinction between a/b and a&b. You may repeat a fandom as long as you offer at least 3 different fandoms first. You may offer 'any', but make sure you're really okay with all the possibilities within the Tagset first. DNWs (Do Not Wants) must be taken into account and followed. Any gift seen to be in bad faith will be removed and the gift giver will be banned from the exchange forthwith.

Are Socks Allowed to Sign Up?
Yes, provided they are well behaved.

Matching Day & 24 Hour Wait for Non-Matchers:

How does Matching Work?
Matching will be based on 1 fandom + 1 media type + 1 character or relationship. If your requests don’t match any offers, they’ll become pinch-hits to be claimed by other creators.

What Happens if My Offers Don't Match any Requests?
The Archivist will try to contact you to add to your sign-up. If you linger for 24 hours without replying, your Sign Up will be deleted.


Assignments Out:
When Does This Run: May 30th (Current as of 2021)

What are the Minimums?
Fanfiction of at least 1,000 words or Podfic of 500 words (if providing something new, both in both text and in a recording) or Podfic of 1,000 words (if using a preexisting work with permission or signing up as a group) or at least 1 piece of original hand-drawn or digital fanart. Manips, collages, and similar graphics may not be used to complete a Fanart assignment. All works should be complete and at least briefly checked for errors. Treats don't have to fit the minimum size requirements. If you feel at any time you can not fulfill your assignment, you may default.

Can We Sign Up as a Podfic/Writer Duo?
If you are offering podfic as part of a team, where one person writes and the other records, please submit only one sign-up for your team. You will only be able to enter one AO3 name per form. When one of you signs up, please email me with the AO3 name and a contact detail for the other person on your team. Your team will receive one gift as part of the challenge. Please contact me if you have any questions about signing up or submitting your work.

How do I Default?
If you won’t be able to complete your assigned gift in time, you will need to default, you can do this by pressing the Default button on your assignment on AO3. I will also auto-default anyone who does not have a work posted at the deadline.

What are Pinch Hits?
A pinch hit is an assignment that has been defaulted on, where a new creator needs to be found. Pinch hits will be posted to community account. You will be able to claim them (meaning you must create a work for that assignment) by submitting a screened comment. Pinch hitters are held to the same requirements as ordinary creators, though they may be given a later deadline to submit their work. All works must be complete before reveals.

Can I Treat?
Yes! Treats don't have to fit the minimum size requirements.

How will This Work?
All works and creators will be revealed at the same time. This is the time to read, listen, view, and comment.You are encouraged to thank your creator for their effort.

I Got Something With a DNW!
If the gift you receive is unpleasant to you, please contact libraryarchivistmod@gmail.com, and I will look into the problem. If the DNW is listed on your Sign Up box on AO3, you will go out as an emergency pinch hit. Any gift seen to be in bad faith will be removed and the gift giver will be banned from the exchange forthwith.
