Brothers Grimm – Cycle 1 Play – Feb 19 & 20
Join us for our annual Cycle 1 play - The Brothers Grimm - The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride as two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories ranging from classics like Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel to more bizarre, obscure stories like The Devil’s Grandmother and The Girl Without Hands. A wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.

Julianne | Golf Québec x Aléo Foundation
On the 18th of January our very own student, Julianne Yuck attended the Aléo Foundation Scholarship award ceremony. There, 30 other student-athletes including herself received a 2,000$ bursary. Julianne is a 16 year old Grade 11 Sport-Études student here at John Rennie. She's been playing golf since she was six years old and through encouragement and managing to get into the Sport-Études program she started to take it more seriously.

Paul Simoneau: The story of a soldier
Over the last term, our Grade 10 History students have stepped into the shoes of investigative historians. They have painstakingly pieced together the life and sacrifice of Signalman Paul Simoneau. Signalman Simoneau wasn’t just a random name; he was the great-uncle of our very own Mr. McKoy. Students discovered that Paul and his brother Olivar (Mr. McKoy’s grandfather) were among the first 5,000 Canadians to storm Juno Beach on D-Day.

We've only been back for four days this week, but things have started with a bang! We have so many events upcoming, along with our midyear exams. Our sports teams were busy again this week, and we saw some minor renovations during the holidays. Snowball, our Grad Semi-Formal tickets are going on sale, and we're welcoming Mr Ferreira our new Grade 11 and Sport-Études Vice-Principal.

From the amazing efforts to support families in our school community with food baskets, to the performances from our Actors' Studio and Music Students to our whole school activities for the 12 days of Chrismukkah, rounding everything off with sporting success, it's been a week to remember!
