Alexandra Rush, Ph.D., is a developmental scientist and Assistant Professor of Psychology and Human Development at Empire State University. Her research explores how families and individuals construct meaningful lives after surviving war and collective trauma. She focuses on intergenerational transmission of trauma, pathways to resilience, and posttraumatic growth. She also examines youth identity and purpose, employing qualitative and mixed methods. She completed her doctorate in Family Science and Human Development at Montclair State University, building on earlier training at Rutgers University and Long Island University. Her academic path has been guided by a commitment to understanding how trauma influences family narratives, adaptation, and resilience across generations. She has dedicated her work to documenting both the vulnerabilities that stem from war trauma and the strengths that allow survivors and descendants to rebuild with resilience and a sense of purpose.
