When are your meetings usually held?

We conduct our club meetings every 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of the month from 7:50pm to 9:50pm. If the meeting dates clash with public holidays or special events, we will provide prior notice to inform you the replacement date.

Where is the meeting venue?

Our club meetings are held at Sylvia Wong Academy. The Address is 20A, Persiaran Greentown 10, Greentown Business Centre, 30450 Ipoh, Perak. (Click on our Google Maps direct link at the main page)

Are there any dress codes?

Yes. We recommend that you come in smart casual or business attire. The gentlemen normally come in suit and tie. Due to the no-shoe policy in the venue, you will be requested to leave your shoes at the entrance cabinet.

What should I expect in a club meeting?

A typical Ipoh Toastmasters Club Meeting would consist of four segments, namely Prepared Speeches, Impromptu Speeches, Humour Session, and General Evaluation. Paid members will deliver their project speeches in the first segment. This is followed by Impromptu Speeches (also know as Table Topics Session), where members and guests are invited to attempt random topics for 1 to 2 minutes long (guests are welcome to try). We would then take a break and continue with fun and games during Humour Session. And finally we would provide Evaluations to all the speeches done for the day.

In what way can joining Toastmasters benefit me?

Our members join Ipoh Toastmasters to build confidence and overcome stage fright. Some would want to further improve their public speaking skills which could help them with their professional and social lives. By working and helping each other to grow, we also learn leadership skills by practising effective communication, active listening, and organisational teamwork. Lastly, the club is a safe place for members to better themselves and build strong fellowship.

How much is the fee to become a member?

Our club is a non-profit organisation, so the majority of the fee collected is for the education subscription fee payable to Toastmasters International, and the venue rental. As a first-time member, we will collect a one-time members registration fee of RM100, then followed by membership fee of RM50 per month. (but we collect 6 months at one go, every twice a year).

Can my children join?

Toastmasters Club meetings in general are catered for adults from 18 year-olds and above. However, we have a Gavel Club for youths aged between 13 to 17. For more details, do reach out to us.
