IRIS Arts Community is a non-profit organization dedicated to the celebration and promotion of local and regional artists, writers and musicians by providing accessible spaces for them to showcase their work. Our current projects include IRIS Room and IRIS Magazine. 

IRIS Room is a bi-monthly event organized by IRIS Arts and hosted at Heartbreak Coffee on the square in Oxford, Mississippi. The event features live poetry, musical acts, and artwork displayed around the coffee shop on the tables and walls, but has also featured dancing, stand-up comedy, theatrical acts & more!  
The event is volunteer-run, and remains free for anyone to attend or to participate in. 

Alongside the IRIS Room event, we aim to relaunch our annual publication known as IRIS Magazine, which will feature artists and writers’ works together and be available purchase all over the South.

IRIS Room is a bi-monthly event organized by IRIS Arts and hosted at Heartbreak Coffee on the Square in Oxford, Mississippi. At each event, artists are invited to display and perform their works to the public for an evening, usually on the last Sunday of the month. The event features live poetry, musical acts, and artwork displayed around the coffee shop, but it has also featured dancing, drag performance, stand-up comedy, theatrical acts, & more!

The team behind IRIS Room and IRIS Mag is seeking new members to keep the community thriving! Responsibilities may include participating in monthly board/volunteer (online) meetings, helping to facilitate the bi-monthly pop-up arts & poetry events, photographing the events, and/or assisting in social media management.

As the board chair, I can say this experience has enriched my life and helped me form lasting connections to the community of Oxford. Through my time working on IRIS, I have also gained a hands-on education in non-profit management and events organizing.
