Community Warning about AI Cornish

One thing that makes our language special and beautiful is the number of varities.

You can divide these varities, which differ slightly in spelling & grammar, into two main groups:

Traditional or Late Cornish: Based on the speech of working-class Cornish people in Penwith in the 17th & 18th Centuries. It preserves the latest developments in the Cornish language, particularly ones that simplify grammar and make speech more fluent, but also has more influence from English.

Middle Cornish: Based on religious plays written in the 13th-16th Century when Cornish was at its peak. The grammar is more complicated, but 

Suggestions have been made that Late Cornish functions as a colloquial variety, while Middle Cornish functions as a literary variety. 

There is a Standard Written Form (SWF) that represents both varieties. Most public communications, textbooks & classes, teach SWF. 
There are also other varieties such as Kernowek Bew, Nowedga, Kernewek Kemmyn (Middle) & Kernowek Standard. 

Diversity in Cornish

Cornish is a living language in Cornwall, South West Britain. Despite the myths, while it went dormant in the 19th Century, the language never fully died out. Depending on how you count, there are now between 500 and 2000 speakers.
