Since the advent of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) methods have become increasingly refined. [1] While the current standard-of-care for PSQA programs still includes pre-treatment measurements, exact implementations vary across clinics worldwide. [2] Modern treatment planning system (TPS) dose modeling and calculation algorithms have become more sophisticated alongside delivery accuracy improvements. With common inverse optimization strategies, it is not uncommon to arrive at a radiation treatment plan with a level of complexity that could exceed the accuracy limitations of the TPS calculation model and/or the precision of the delivery machine.
